The QB who was "not supposed to step on the field" ending up leading UGA to the National Championship. In his 3rd try and 12 quarters vs Bama he came through in the last quarter with 2 TD passes and along with a good blocking, running, play calling & generational D, broke the drought. He is returning to UGA in fall 2022. Will be interesting to see if he starts again, or Brock Vandergriff or newcomer Gunner Stockton.

It's so different from the Mike Bobo era. From 2001 to 2014. UGA had hit after hit almost. David Greene, DJ Shockley, Matthew Stafford, Joe Cox, Aaron Murray, Hutson Mason. And yes I know UGA fans will say Cox sucked, but if your worst QB in a 13 year span is Joe freaking Cox, you've had it fucking good. This was the era where the SEC had brutal defenses. Tennessee was great for a while, Florida was in the Urban Meyer era, South Carolina and Mizzu were top 10 teams on the tail end of that era, Auburn was way better (sorry Auburn fans, but y'all haven't been that good since 2013), playing LSU's Nick Saban, Bama's Nick Saban, Les Miles in LSU's golden era. To tell you the truth, on another note, the SEC has been down for their standards since 2014. No consistency from anybody but Bama and UGA.

As a UW fan, I believe Easton would have committed to Washington if Jake Browning wasn't there. Easton's sr year of hs was browning's freshman year at uw, which he was the starter from day one and was a 4 year starter. I could see if he wanted to play right away that he wouldn't go to uw because of that scenario. As you stated Easton transferred to uw but had to sit out a year, which worked in UW's favor because he sat out during browning's SR year and became the starter after that.

What if Mark Richt and Brian Shottenheimer (UGA's Offensive coordinator) had recruited Trevor Lawrence earlier and treated him as a top recruiting target over Bailey Hockman and Jacob Eason? What if Mark Richt had recruited DeShaun Watson harder instead of other recruits like Jacob Park? Two Georgia kids going to Clemson was pretty devastating. Of the 4 and 5 stars QB recruits, only Jacob Eason and Justin Fields have signed with the Dawgs. They missed out on so many offers since 2010 (based on your video). So sad that both Eason and Fields transferred was because of Jake Frohm (high 3 stars, low 4 stars QB). If Frohm didn't start in his frosh yr, would Trevor Lawrence ever considered UGA? Sure Pickens is out but UGA still has some great WR's, including Arik Gilbert, and UGA has a TE room to write home about. And we've got JTD who by all accounts is a football savant. I don’t really get why Fromm gets so much hate from UGA fans. Yeah his junior year was rough but he took the team farther than anyone expected his freshman and sophomore years. It wasn’t his fault that the coaching staff chose him (who was a proven talent at the college level) over Fields who had not proven himself yet. IMO you can’t sit the QB that just took you to the Natty for an incoming freshman. It’s a shame Fields got away but they probably made the right choice by starting Fromm Field’s freshman year. If Fromm had struggled, which he did not his sophomore year, Fields was right there to get rolling as QB1. I definitely think Fromm should have stayed his senior year but honestly I can understand why he would want to get the hell away from Athens with so much heat on his back.

How many of those QB's outside of Stafford even got a chance? David Greene was overdrafted even in the 3rd but wasn't even given the light of day by Holmgren. Shockley was always buried on the depth chart and the one year he might've gotten a look, 2007 Michael Vick, he tore his knee in the Preseason. Besides Stafford, and the two QB's before him, the other guys just simply aren't Pro QB's. While most have been decent or better in college, they lack the skill set or athletic ability to last in the pros.

@RustCole013 жыл бұрын
@@garrettcoleman3200 I'm not really convinced any school is a QB bust factory. Except maybe, Ohio State. Outside of OSU, I don't think many schools produce enough high expectation QB's for them to even be considered a bust. There are over 120 D-1 teams, but on an average year, there are only about 7 QB's taken in the top 3 rounds. Even that is being generous but I think a QB would have to be taken in the first 3 rounds to be considered a bust (First 2 rounds is probably more accurate). The thing about these powerhouse SEC schools is, every other position player on the field is so frikan good.... those players pump up QB stats, which is what makes the QB play seem so unpredictable. Joe Burrow is an excellent QB but if you watch his LSU highlights, he is very often standing in a clean pocket and is throwing to open receivers. At the pro level, you are not really throwing to an open receiver. One WR route that get's run the most often in the NFL and results in the most completed passes is the stick route (Just a short 5-8 yard, undefined route that requires the WR to find a soft spot to hang out in and box out a defender for the catch). This route is very rarely "OPEN -"open" ". A skilled QB who has experience passing under pressure will usually find a way to flick a quick pass off to a WR running that route, even if it is well defended. It's like an inbound pass in basketball. I think SEC quarterbacks from schools like GA are not faced with situations like this as often as a QB from less dominant schools. SEC offensive lines allow their QB's to get 3+ seconds in the pocket on 7 step drop-backs... they can stand in, read the defense and find one of their 1st-round-pick receivers who are capable of getting unusual separation. I think GA gets solid QB recruits and have had plenty of talent come through the program but the success of the team is something that might actually hurt a QB's development. I think one reason Russell Wilson became so freakishly good was because he played 3 years at NC State. He had a mediocre team to work with and that forced him to up his game as a dual-threat QB. He had to fine-tune his decision making and that includes learning when to throw the ball away, which is the type of thing you can only improve at when you are constantly under pressure. SEC QB's just seem to have too good of a team around them and it makes it a little more difficult to adjust to the stifling defenses that exist in the NFL.

Georgia fan here. I'd argue Eason was a bust. He was ok his freshman year but it was clear he wasn't quite the player he was supposed to be. As soon as Fromm got in there they never looked back. Hutson Mason was actually pretty good. Not much was expected out of him and he filled in for a season after Aaron Murray left and they didn't really miss much. I think he was very under appreciated. Bauta never really was a QB. he played a little but he was more of a multi position guy who was forced to fill in due to injury. I think Bryce Ramsey was the biggest bust on the list. Guy couldn't even play 3rd string. They basically relegated him to note pad duty by his Jr year. It was depressing to watch. I had NCAA '14 at the time and kept having to decrease his OVR rating in order to keep the roster accurate. Eventually I completely replaced him. He was just not a D1 player.

Believe the perspective is wrong...question is: when has UGA had an offesive coordinator that was or is considered elite or even on the top of college football. The answer is and I'm 44 years of age not in my lifetime. We've never had a offense coordinator like: Kiffin, Freeze, Sark, tony elliot, kevin wilson, bill o'brien etc. Monken in his day worked under some great guys, but he isn't going to outscheme anyone. He is a match up and concept guy. Until Kirby or any UGA head coach keeps the program on the forefront of offensive systems UGA will be playing second fiddle. Just in the past 2-3 years the game has changed dramatically offensively and UGA is behind the Clemsons, Bamas, Oh States..and even Ole Miss and teams that have innovative coordinators. Its easy, you can't defened what you can't read and identify. There is nothing Monken does that a D coordinator says, this is going to be hard to read. No, maybe defend but not read and identify during a game. Big difference. When you get hard to read, identify and defend on mulitiple spots on a field = bama/clemson offense.

Stafford and Murray were good, and quite frankly as an Alabama fan Fromm wasn't all that fun. And just in case ya'll missed it, did better than Justin. Stafford can't help he went to Lions

As a Gators fan, our QBs aren’t much better. Wuerful, Grossman, Leak, Tebow. All great in college, only to implode in the NFL.

Hey here’s an idea for another video: “Why has Clemson gotten their asses whipped in their last 2 playoff games?”

@Pen Island that doesn’t seem to add up with their SEC is overrated or “Clemson is Ohio State’s Daddy” fuckery.

@@danielmoore411 not even a clemson fan but they own ohio st. Ohio may have beat them in 2020 but clemson still owns them. And clemson has won 2 titles in the last 5 years. I think they are doing all right lol

Georgia has three of the all-time passers in SEC history, with the #1 overall. Christian LeMay? Really? You’re reaching man. Let’s be honest, this is all coming up only because of the Fields transfer and our subsequent struggles in 2019 and most of 2020. The majority of the guys you mentioned were all back-ups and were really recruited as depth guys. Georgia’s 2019 and 2020 were products of the Fields transfer combined with a poor hire at OC with James Coley which was quickly rectified when Smart hired Todd Monken. We’ll see how much of “a bust factory” UGA is this year when JT Daniels lights it up. Fromm was not “the best QB for UGA this decade” either. That title easily goes to Aaron Murray who played from 2010-2014 and is the current leading passer in SEC history. The only reason Mathis ended up at Georgia was due to Fields’ transfer and he committed without even taking an official visit. He was a project guy that wasn’t ideal for UGA’s system, but they had to sign someone with the Fields’ transfer. We’ve had a two year dip in offensive production which started to turn around by the end of last year. This is due to three or four reasons in my opinion. 1. The transition in OC from Jim Chaney a more conservative, run to set up the pass kind of guy, to James Coley who recruited great and talked a good game, but when Saturday rolled around his play calling was predictable and literally stagnated our offense. 2. Fields didn’t want to compete with Fromm and came into UGA with an entitled attitude thinking he should start day one despite the fact that Fromm had just led us to the National title as a freshman. I believe had he stayed, he would’ve eventually beaten out Fromm in 2019, but he had no patience and bolted for Ohio State. 3. Fromm leaving early to go pro, largely because he knew Kirby was going a different direction at OC. Fromm’s numbers dipped his junior year largely because of Coley’s inept play calling and I don’t think Fromm wanted to risk another dip in production with the uncertainty of who would be the next OC. 4. And finally, Jamie Newman completely screwed us. The guy opted out literally two weeks before the season started after splitting first team reps the entire off-season with JT Daniels. With no Spring practice last season, those reps were integral to player development and were the main reason both Mathis and Beck looked so underprepared last season. Beck looks lights out this year in spring and will easily be our number two if JT goes down. Our offense is locked and loaded this season and has truly transitioned from the run first approach that Kirby had in place his first three seasons. Not gonna say we’ll be 2019 LSU or 2020 Alabama good, but we’re definitely gonna sling it around the yard to some very talented skill players. We’re still gonna run it too. We’re five deep at RB and that’s no exaggeration. This will be a record breaking year offensively for UGA with Todd Monken as OC.
