I'm glad they pointed out that the Texan management failed to build an OL to protect Carr. The guy might have been a legit great QB. The rare times the OL was able to do their job Carr looked good. Dude could win games when he wasn't getting rocked. But that kind of damage adds up quickly. Damn shame. Also major props to Alex Smith. 49's total failure at the coaching level was clear to anyone who wasn't the GM. What a waste of talent and heart. Dude could have easy helped build a powerhouse for SF but they pissed it away. Glad he got the credit he deserved at KC. Dude has plenty of haters from a time and situation that was completely out of his control.

Palmer was a really talented player, it's just that he was playing for the Bengals. The Bengals usually screw up the development of a player especially quarterback, and to make sure a quarterback becomes a franchise player (as well as healthy) that takes good coaching and a good front office. The Bengals kept signing players who were cheap or had off field problems and didn't fit in their offensive system like Cedric Benson. The front office of the Bengals was one of worst in the league at that time, it's better now though. During the Andy Dalton era, Marvin Lewis had complete control over the personel.

@Bozbaby103

If you think deep on this one, a LOT would have changed (or not depending on perspective). Had Rodgers gone to SF, aside from what may or may not have happened to his career and the Niners, if we go on the premise that he had a relatively similar career as he's had in GB or even a somewhat lesser one (c'mon, it's Rodgers!), would Kaepernick come to the Niners in 2011 and ultimately start a long-overdue social revolution? (Yes, it could be argued that Kaep would've done it on any team, but that's not the point of this comment.)

@@ced3797 thats true, but the main problem is that draft stock is only based on physical attributes. How big or strong or fast a guy is. No matter what scouts or GMs would like to think, you can't look inside a guys mind and see what motivates him, how driven he is, etc. Thats why the greatest football player of all time was drafted 199th overall. There are plenty of guys that had natural talent and athletic ability their entire lives, so they get scholarships and find success in college effortlessly. Then they go to the NFL, where everyone is a freak athlete and they have to actually put in effort, in practice, in film study, etc. Analysts act like the draft is a science, where higher picks equals better players, but that's not true. Its much more about luck and finding hidden value, there's no such thing as guaranteed success.

Once Alex got a good O-Line and a competent coach (Harbaugh) he blossomed; Rodgers was able to learn and adjust to the NFL as Farve's backup so a few years after he became the starter, he won MVP and the SB.
