And TheAdmiester told in Twitter that if you complete 20% of the game in Spec II, "you can bypass the restrictions (besides tires) of any event you've already beaten by pressing R1 on the regulations screen". Not bad...

as someone who prefers the rigidity of GT3's career i'm actually quite happy with the progression changes but i guess it comes down to preferences. maybe having a separate package with just QOL improvements would've been the best-of-both-worlds but i know that's asking for a lot given this is the first ever time we have seen something like this for any gran turismo.

The one thing that annoys me the most in both vanilla and spec 2 is the over abundance of group c cars in the extreme events, which makes a lot of cars like the fantasy LM’s being relegated to a single event. The synthesizer is a good addition at least, which lets me bring out my fav cars that don’t fit in the event list for being too fast for most events while too slow to compete against group c lemans cars.
@AzulliaАй бұрын
Honestly, it'dve been nice to have like an interim between Professional Events and GTWC that makes you interact / race on the level of the fantasy LMs, as like an "in-between" of difficulty between that league and GTWC, and having lap counts that make you think on whether to use a softer compound and stop, or to use a harder compound and nostop at the cost of raw pace. GT All Stars is close, but there's still LMPs and Group Cs in there.

I have recently started playing both Vanilla GT4 and Spec-II since now i have hardware that can actually do PS2 emulation, and i must say, i disagree with almost all of Yellowbird's points: (Of course, these are all my opinions) -GTWC not being locked behind Beginner Events and Professional Events smoothes out gameplay and fixes a big annoyance i have with Vanilla. Imo, GT2 did the way to the GTWC best, since it made sense going through the Nationals and Leagues. Was still a roadblock, but it made sense and set it all up nicely -Normal Road tyres by default are a great change from the Sport Mediums. The heavier, less responsive handling, with higher odds of sliding or understeering makes it a fun challenge to keep the car on the edge of grip. -The prize cars for both the licenses and different events being changed are great, they feel much more balanced, even if some progression skips still exist (Altezza Race for example, still giving the Altezza Touring Car). -The more restrictive events are very welcome to me, as someone who has always loved the 360 Forza titles, i enjoy being a little more restricted on what i can drive to an event. I think the Tuning Car GP being only for Tuning Cars was a great idea, shame it was changed in 1.7. -The grinding changes are fair to me, tho to be fair, i am not a collector in Gran Turismo. If a car becomes no longer useful or i have driven it for too long, i sell it, making me always have plenty of money and not need to grind. -The rally car changes are a complete non issue to me, specially to the Subie Spec C. You get two Lancer Evos for fairly easy events, on Evo Meeting and Japan 90s Festival. -The new Endurance events are a very welcome addition, and i agree with the Trial Mountain 30 Laps issues, i do think that all long events should've stayed if it was possible, specially as a PC player, cause i can just do save states, i enjoy long races. -Cannot opinate on the new driving missions, haven't done them yet lol To me, while i understand where all the "challenge run" ideas come from, as someone that doesn't like to play challenge runs, only view them as yt content, i find those complaints pointless, even if i understand where you come from. Credit where credit is due tho, your views on how this mod is a mod and not a replacement is a very important thing to emphasize. While i have found Spec II MUCH more enjoyable than the already phenomenal Vanilla game, it cannot and will not replace the Vanilla release. Great video however, even if i disagree heavily! *edit: fixed a couple spelling mistakes

Spec II has always been a strange case to me... oh wait wrong game community. The QoL changes (e.g. the Quick Menu, cheaper rigidity refresh) and some of the (completely) new features such as car repainting are welcome changes, but they're also steeped in some choices that can only really be described as "Huh???". It's such an emotional rollercoaster at times. P.S. That Jimmy Broadbent clip never gets old. P.P.S. 24:27 -- To put this nerf into perspective, the newest Legacy, the Legacy B4 2.0GT Spec B, has *higher* grip modifiers than the post-nerf Impreza Spec C (102 / 102 for the Legacy in question).

I get what ur points tbh and some of it I agree, like Tuner Cars and RUF, this would be less of a glitch but more of an oversight (plus its still a mod, they havent changed THAT much over the actual base game mechanics and overall content) But I liked some of the changes like the tyres and more restrictions on entry as forcing content most players (and I) overlooked when I was younger, Tuner Cars and road tyres for example Similar with the more restricted JGTC entries makes me feel more uhhh, immersive? I guess its the best word here cuz I like to have a slightly underpowercar but still on the relative level and from the same "type" The new prize cars seem ok but not amazing but I just prefer less concept cars available and concept cars actually being worth a sale price is a very much needed feature I to get ur point with challenge series, anyways overall Im happy with it but at the end of the day is still a fan made mod for a PS2 ISO most people will play on an emulator In a way Im just glad the exists and it will/can be continous worked on and gives a breath of fresh air of GT4 and just GT "on PC" as close as u can Edit: Cuz I wrote this comment while listening to the vid, the endurance 20% game completion change was most likely due the higher amount of events so technically *it wasnt changed* but I havent done the actual math to know for sure Edit2: This one I find it weirder, complaining about the lack of the classic grind event is kinda moot, grinding on this game never been that hard in the first place. You can easily use B-Spec on some events with good prize cars and just grind those and to me the grind itself was never a positive of the game and how GT (more so overtime with newer entries) has a real distorted view of ingame economics and car prices

I love this mod and prefer the changes. I like the road tires, class restrictions and the prize cars (not random) have been decent. I've used cars I'd never touched. Didn't even know there was a Mitsubishi Evo engine sport wagon.
@dylansanАй бұрын
Man, I wrote out a long comment but youtube ate it... Anyway, I think maybe part of the issue is that Spec II is partly a refinement of vanilla GT4, and partly a remix. Some changes, like to the lineups for Endurance races, are meant to add variety. Many of the vanilla enduros used the same or very similar lineups, and while they were fun, the idea was to give underutilized cars more opportunities to be used, e.g. rally cars. But it does seem like some tweaking is needed especially for races where there are rabbits, or where certain cars just fall way behind. I don't think Admeister has done much tweaking of AI car tuning/performance yet. When I eventually play this, even if I do beat it, I will not feel like I have beaten GT4. It's has such a different progression and so many replaced or modified events that I doesn't really count as a GT4 playthrough. Ideally it should be a challenge for skilled players, but it seems it still needs work due to how poor the AI is when racing against players in similar cars. I appreciate the added restrictions to events, which encourage players to try different vehicles. But it highlights the difficulty in balancing a game for a wide range of player skill levels. I think vanilla GT4 (and other games in the series) are so free with car selection that most players don't bother trying to use the type of car the events are designed/named for. And it's always been easy to use domething overpowered to dominate the AI for a boring race. The added restrictions help with that, but also prevent skilled players from using underperforming cars to get a fun challenge. There's no easy solution there. The poor AI really make balancing difficult. One possible solution is to buff the AI cars, maybe not to Speedster levels, but enough that an unmodified car can't win easily without a lot of skill. Another option is to loosen restrictions after players beat an event once (not sure it's even possible). This wouldn't help challenge runs much, but would at least allow players to experiment and challenge themselves. To me it's clear at least that GT4 itself is the biggest obstacle here, with its physics and AI really limiting the possibilities for fun, competitive racing. The rally car Enduro should be a no-brainer interesting race, but if it's not, then it would need a lot of work or a complete rethink.

Yeh, the really crux of the issues at the end of the day is still just basic GT4 limitations of being a PS2 game and this is all modding on top of it
@YellowbirdYTАй бұрын
As I said, GT4 itself isn't the issue as many of the changes prove there is access to the data, and tools required to steer the game into a good direction. It is not a matter of resources, but personal choices which defy the goal of delivering a better gameplay experience.
@dylansanАй бұрын
@@YellowbirdYT I think most of these choices do steer the game in a better direction. Most of the changes are there to avoid cheese. In vanilla GT4 it's trivial to get overpowered prize cars and use them in events with few restrictions. Now at least you have to try different things. If you compare to other racing games it's actually kind of crazy how much freedom GT4 gives to use whatever car you want and just dominate. Sure, challenge runs won't be the same, but I don't think they were ever a priority. I'm sure there are still some fun ideas to try. Also, not sure if you know, but after 20% completion you can use R1 to ignore restrictions on any race you've completed, so you can still challenge yourself to beat races with unusual cars, just maybe not as part of a run (unless you're grinding credits or something). Also on the subject of grinding, I much prefer there not be a few events that are vastly more rewarding than others. I like that there's now reason to redo different races instead of just repeating a single one endlessly.
@YellowbirdYTАй бұрын
"Most of the changes are there to avoid cheese" They fail at doing so, as events can still be overpowered with ease, and GT4's imbalanced grids become more obvious. Some events are made worse in this regard (JGTC split being a good example) - My problem with this logic is the fact the new restrictions don't provide any advantages over vanilla GT4, as you could still choose whichever cars you wanted and try different things, as you said. Now you can't. From a functional standpoint, it's a net negative. "challenge runs won't be the same, but I don't think they were ever a priority" Quote straight out of Spec II's website: Spec II primarily aims to improve on the game in ways that I feel Polyphony Digital themselves would, while also adding a few modernised features and *challenge run-friendly options.* It is an advertised feature. Introducing a mechanic which behaves as a New Game+ mode doesn't fix the issue, if anything it's more of a curiosity. Also, as a disclaimer, the option to bypass restrictions was never mentioned on Spec II's website, or listed under its cheats. It took until this video before it got mentioned publically, go figure.
@blobbemАй бұрын
I'm actually looking forward to playing this myself in the future, and hopefully by then they'll work out any kinks that may be present, as I'm pretty interested in the new events and differing progression and car rewards from the original. It looks like it will force me to use cars I never bothered with before, and at least tries to restrict me from taking in an overpowered monster into most events. If you are someone who doesn't care for challenge runs, this mod seems like it will be pretty fun.
@Skarfar90Ай бұрын
Having sunk some hours into Spec II now, and I can totally see the appeal. Now, there ARE some flaws, like Yellowbird addressed in the video, but those could be fixed in a future update. Here are my takes on the good and the bad: The good stuff: + The new engine sounds are amazing compared to the original, especially when you add a racing exhaust. + Giving concept cars a selling price. + More flexibility in the upgrades department (i.e. AWD swaps and turbo conversions). + Well rounded prize car selection in the early game. + Better event prize money in the early game. + Addition of a realistic transmission sound when installing the racing gearbox. + Fixing issues with certain cars having incorrect values in terms of power and weight. The not so good stuff: - Unnecessary nerfs to certain cars, like the Impreza Spec C mentioned in this video. - Mediocre prize cars for some tougher events. - Re-paint price is a little high. - Road tires, but I understand the gist of why it was changed. - Full restoration does not restore the engine to factory new power output. - Grip modifiers feels a little off - many cars feels a lot more prone to sliding around, compared to vanilla. Things to improve upon: ~ Like the Volvo 240 as an example. In vanilla GT4, this car incorrectly weighs almost 1900 kilos, compared to the 1400 kilos in real life. Granted, in Spec II it still comes with the wrong engine for its model year (listed with a B23 engine, which went out of production in 1984, instead of the B230E, which was the higher performing naturally aspirated engine offered in 1988), but I guess that could be rectified too in a future update. And being a European car, it would be best to give it the Euro-spec too, not the US-spec. 131 HP, 188 N-m, or 182 HP, 255 N-m for the B230ET (could be the stage 1 turbo upgrade). Also, the engine upgrades really does not justify reality. In real life, a turbo-converted B230E will often produce between 250-300 HP with that upgrade alone (would be like Stage 2 in the game). Big turbos (like the stage 4 kits) are also commonly used with these engines, pushing the power output to well over 700 HP for the single-cam engine. In short: turbo upgrades needs to provide a greater power output in certain cars. ~ More tuning/upgrade options for more cars. ~ Tuner Village needs to be accessible for more cars, not just JDM machines and certain VW's. ~ Better downforce properties for adding aero kits (i.e. wings). ~ Could collab with the creator of the upcoming GT4 Re-Tuned mod for this. ~ Maybe add some new cars later down the line (or engine swaps of current models), especially diesel models, as they are very under-represented. - Like a 7.3 Powerstroke-powered variant of the F150 pickup, a Cummins HighPower version of the RAM, or the TDI versions of the VW Golf and Audi A3. AFAIK, the only diesel model in GT4 is the BMW 120d. In real life, diesel engines are pretty popular, and very cool when it comes to tuning. And of course, I can't mention diesel engines without mentioning the Mercedes OM606 engine (a.k.a. the diesel equivalent of the 2JZ)

"No one with a right mindset would take normal tires to a race event." Heh... But to comment on the mod, I like what it has done, thus far. I'm considering Spec-II as a challenge replay of the vanilla game, because I've played the vanilla one too much to need a bit more of a challenge, but there are things that I really find a bit off-putting for what the mod is. All in all, the sound alone for the cars made me overlook them, besides some cars sounding "more realistic" but worse than before. The I6 BMW M3 suffered a lot, because the racing exhaust was pretty close to the actual car sound, and they used a more generic sound as replacement, which kinda miffed the experience of driving the cars, for me.

Starting a new playthrough I almost always get all the licenses first and I play with pricecar Randomizer on which probably breaks classic GT4 progression in a few ways :) But I like getting random cars that usually open new unexpected paths through GT4. Like you said I find the tire situation bizarre, having to buy proper tires for each new car first to make them handle better. But Spec" also comes with alot of QOL improvements many dont want to miss anymore.

Game design isn't just a skill, its an artform. It requires deep knowledge not only of your internal systems but how players will interact with them. I'm not gonna act like this is a perfect mod but to say absolutely moronic bullshit like calling restrictions a publicity stunt is absolutely unhinged. I think Admiester tried implementing classic game design ideas into the game, and it worked out okay. He's the designer of the mod, so no shit things are affected by personal choice. Every game is affected by the designers' personal choice(s), because it's not entirely an exact science that can be applied to every circumstance. However, I think you are looking at this through the lens of a challenge run way too much without thinking that the game tries to go out of it's way to be a better *GAME* and not just a better challenge run video generator. Things have to change so the core of the *game* is better, so certain things won't be perfect for challenge runs. That's just how you make a game. Restrictions are *good* if done right, cause that's where strategy gives way to creativity. Tuning Car GP is honestly fine because the game is challenging me as a player to scrounge up the credits to buy a car from a section I probably haven't bought a car from yet, leading to decisions like "do I sell X car" or "do I do X race first for cash", not to mention that you'll need to shop around for your cars and determine which one fits you better (and I think you should realize not everyone wants a car with uberoptimized stats that are invisible to the player, cause they might just want to buy and drive something cool or interesting) as opposed to me picking a random car to tune, which just leads to me picking the fastest one I have because why should I give a shit? The only time people don't do that is when they self impose... restrictions. Now imagine, what if a designer picked the restriction out for you, so that you're actually challenged by someone rather than a forced idea in your head that you can go back on? That's game design! Yes, there's very bad decisions here (Clubman League is a great idea on paper but as you said functionally it forces you to use one of 2 half a million credit cars and it leaves a lot to be desired) but you shouldn't look down on the concept of restrictions *as a whole* by saying it's a restriction of "creativity". It's shit like this that killed Forza Horizon; there's no more premade challenges carefully crafted by a designer, just pick a car and track and have "fun". Also the game keeping you from being rich is a good thing. Again, it forces you to strategize, and strategy breeds creativity. Just because you can't optimize your gameplan anymore to the nth degree doesn't make the game's design bad. I am still glad this video exists as this might just bring nothing but improvements to the mod (particularly when it comes to certain issues from vanilla that are still not fixed, or stats and drivability of certain cars, as it's inexcusable that rally cars are bad at... rally) but I feel like some of your points are just clouded by the idea that the games design should live entirely in service to challenge runs and not people that want to play a real game. I think a compromise between your knowledge and the game's core design ideals would end up creating a near perfect mod.

There's a couple things to consider that Yellowbird couldn't really raise in this video that add much-needed context. The main relevant thing is, the mod creator TheAdmiester is oddly judgmental of people like me, Yellowbird and others telling people in our guides how they should be playing the game, when he's basically doing the same thing by moving around prize cars, licence requirements and implementing restrictions to existing vanilla events that weren't there before? He is on the record multiple times in his Racing Game Café server disparaging us and our guides and saying things like we have "an attitude of "the way I play/tune is the only way to play and you will do badly if you don't follow what I say"", which is quite ironic when he's forcing his own subjective progression changes onto the player, with no way to turn them off without disabling the mod outright. At least with our guides, it is purely up to the viewer/reader to pick and choose what they pull from it, it's a resource of information first and foremost, and I for one always try to remind the viewer that what I say is subjective and it might not work for them. I feel this was a big reason why event restrictions were such a primary focus of the video, since it questions whether TheAdmiester was really building upon PD's vision as he claims on the Spec II website, or if he's scratching and re-building stuff he doesn't personally agree with so he can impose his own playstyle upon everyone else, while simultaneously mocking us because he believes we're imposing our own playstyles upon our viewers. Also worth mentioning that he is a "strong believer in stock tunes feeling the best", and is quite mocking of people tuning their cars, saying we're "bashing random sliders about for shits and giggles". Despite the fact that tuning is quite an integral part of the challenge runs that the website claims to be friendly towards, both on Yellowbird's and mrxbas's channels especially, and a lot of the raised issues in this video are due to poor stock setups and the removed ability to tune up road cars for Tuning Car GP / GT500 / endurances due to restrictions. Hope that clears things up.

At the moment I’m of mixed feelings of some of the changes, like how a good number of prize car rewards have been nerfed and reduced the amount of new events they open up (like the Sunday and K-Car Cup rewards). I liked the stock change to comfort tires at first, at the low speeds of the earlygame I think they’re controllable enough while still requiring a bit of extra care, but if I understand from the video that most AI opponents are using sports tires for these events then it’s really not a balanced decision. Better tire compounds objectively change lap times, lower grip cars physically cannot take corners as fast. I think it’d be interesting if there was a tradeoff in the beginner league where there’s a choice between spending credits to get an edge on tire compounds or toughing it out to save money, but that would require the events to be balanced and doable with comfort tires in the first place, plus the extra cost it incurs to entering intermediate events might be more trouble than the change is worth. And if they’re gonna drop the cost of sport tires to pocket change then it ultimately just becomes the same kind of busywork as manually disabling TCS on every new car, which I’m under the impression this mod is trying to do away with seeing all the new QOL additions. Besides that most of the big issues with this mod seem like oversights, and unless stuff like low rally car grip turns out to be important to the mod’s vision I’m optimistic that community feedback will put it on their radar. Game balance is hard and requires a lot of testing and feedback, something that even companies as large as Polyphony struggle with. Being a constantly-updating mod taking in player feedback makes it a lot easier to understand and update the balance, but good solutions are far easier said than done.

I've been playing spec II prize cars only over the last number of weeks and while it definitely has its issues and sticking points, viewing it as a remix of the vanilla game instead of an attempt at a definitive upgrade helps my experience immensely. 200 Miles of El Capitan has been an enormous weight on my shoulders until I beat it last night with the Impreza Rally Car '99, pitting every 7 laps and brute forcing a win through sheer pace. One issue I have with the mod that irks me significantly is the increased emphasis on the super license which I always viewed as the entryway into post-game in gt4 where now in spec II it's required for hard rally events? why? Overall I think spec II (no offense to the mod creator) just has a really unfun sense of "balance" where you're just not allowed to have interesting prize cars outside of the handful of events like DTM or Miata endurance that give LMPs
@delvechiocavalhieri210516 күн бұрын
Coming back to this video a second time, now to add my 2 cents: - they should lower the event synthetizer prize pool by a lot. You can get any car with your first 10k, hop in (after IB license) in easy difficulty, and win 20k in a blink of an eye. Randomized a big difficult map? No problem, just quit and do it again. 20k is not that much mid to late game, but winning a competition with a basic car just to gain up to 3x its price (or even more with cheap used ones) is kinda broken early game.

For my experience, I enjoyed it, I think some changes are fantastic but some others are silly, I also don't exactly enjoy the new sounds on every single car (I think the RX-7 FD and specially the Honda NSXes for example sound much worse here than on vanilla, but the RX-7 got slightly better, still worse than original, sounds in 1.06) but overall it is a "net positive" improvement of the original game, it's also cool to see all the content from all versions of GT4 into a single game. I will say I personally disagree with the restrictions on JGTC being a bad thing, I always disliked how the original game lets you use any car in a race that's supposed to be for *JGTC cars only*, so this is a change I'm onboard with it, specially when the DTM championship restricts you to also use DTM cars there; It's thematic and makes sense for it to be there, that said... some other restrictions like the price cap in Clubman Cup or restricting Tuner car races to only cars classed as such are silly and I fully agree they shouldn't be there. That said... *hard agree* with the tires being Normal by default as an atrocious decision, it just makes the game either more awful to play or makes you spend more money when you buy a random car, and yeah the rally cars *really* need to be buffed, they aren't as fun to drive here as they were in the original game. And yes, I was also particularly upset about the GT-R Concept price nerf, and you *know* it was done because people were grinding it, I particularly don't see the reason to do that other than to piss people off.
@YellowbirdYTАй бұрын
Engine sounds are hit and miss, absolutely, but they fall under quality of life changes. As explained the problem with event restrictions is the fact they create a contradiction based off Spec II's advertised goals. There's also evidence of the changes to grinding being intentional, past the devaluation of prize cars.

@@YellowbirdYT Yeah, this is why it's important to not take advertisement to heart I suppose hah. Still, really fantastic and honest video, I really think you did some great points there. What the mod doesn't fix for me, and this is more a criticism of GT4 I guess, is the terrible handling of cars when using a controller / pad. The behavior of vehicles feels impossible to master when you're not using a wheel. Yes, a wheel should make things easier, and I agree you should be faster with a wheel, but using a controller should not be as frustrating as it is in GT4. I compare it to the modern F1 games where mastering the control of cars with a pad is very difficult but possible. I have been able to match players who use a wheel by putting in many hours in to the F1 games and changing the way I use the controller. But its possible because the F1 cars behave in a consistent way that you can carefully understand and master. In GT4 I feel like this isnt the case and there seems to be some element of a dice roll in the outcome when you take a corner. It makes some of the harder challenges like getting gold in licenses more of a pain than it is worth.

Every time a game has a "big" mod like this, it's always the same thing. A few things I like mixed with a BUNCH of things that I feel ruin the experience. I'd rather there be several "small" mods that I can pick and choose to have and cater my experience to the way I'd like to play it. This is more like a mod pack of randomly chosen mods that would otherwise be many smaller mods, except you have to decide whether you'd rather have the whole lot or completely vanilla. Unless some big things change, I'm not downloading it
@CMDRSweeperАй бұрын
The BIGGEST flaw with GT4 was event restrictions, always has and always will be. Often it meant buying the one car I dislike, getting it set up to run decently, do the event, then leave it to collect dust in the garage afterwards. Gran Turismo 2 however, you only had horsepower to play with, and a lot of "Hmmm, I wonder how this AE86 would work against muscle cars" ideas came from and a lot of fun came from building a machine you were interested in to make it competitive. THAT is the reason I hold Gran Turismo 2 as the best GT of all time, and Gran Turismo 4 came really close if you got a version where you could use cheats to remove the event restrictions. Only problem was the lack of diversity in the events, compared to GT2, probably due to some tracks ending up being nation themed.

Street tires are not the default tires on GT4 cars for a reason I learned from playing this mod: they make the cars unstable and difficult to correct the slightest rear end slip. GT4 has a physics problem where things happen the opposite way they do in reality. It is easier to correct a rear end slip in this game with slick tires than with street tires, and in reality it is exactly the opposite. Also, I would prefer faster opponents than having these tires. The races become slower and more boring.

With this Spec II mod one of my favourite cars of all time the RUF CTR2 had a change of its physics as stated in the release. It’s now undrivable. As soon as I hit the breaks when going quick it spins almost immediately. (I only play with ASM and TCS off) Maybe it’s because I’m not very good at driving it but for example the RUF Yellowbird is a lot more fun and easier to control even tho it’s only rear wheel drive while the CTR2 is all wheel drive.

Something I hate about Spec 2: Why did they remove 8-9 hour endurance races. Those races alongside the 24 hour and 1000km races are what make GT4 endurance races special and now that they're gone, it feels quite downgraded compared to base GT4. Don't get me wrong, the new endurance races are great, but they shouldn't remove the longer endurance races. I'm also aware that not everyone likes to do long endurance races but for the endurance strategists like us, this doesn't sit right at all. B-Spec also solved the issue of most players not wanting to do long endurance races by letting you speed up the race by x3. This is a really confusing change for GT4 endurance races.
@markusTegelaneАй бұрын
They would have probably kept these endurances in if it was possible, however due to technical limitations, GT4 modding requires the total number of events to stay the same, so you can add events, but you also have to delete previous events to avoid going over the limit.

Counterpoint to B-spec: The second B spec Bob needs to go in to pit, your 3x speedup gets removed. Wanna go to sleep and let your bot finish that 24 hour race you got a big lead in? Nope! Have fun waking up and finding out you still have 2/3rds of a race to go, frying your PS2 in the process!

@frylucasАй бұрын
3x on these races are still 3 hours of gameplay (not counting pitstops), most people simply don't have the patience to do these events. I understand the "diversity", but they add nothing to the game, even Super GT IRL sees it's drivers sitting their asses on their cars for at max roughly 2 hours of driving before they are obliged to pass the car to the other driver of that particular car. This is because the peak of driving at the limit is roughly 2 hours or less, and that's the ideal spot you want your endurances to be so it doesn't becomes a snooze fest or fatigue starts getting the best of you. There's a reason why Gran Turismo 6 got rid altogether of endurance races, though that was an *extreme* measure for these issues when they could've simply had done more 2 hours races....

Aside from some minor tweaks here and there, I mostly felt that you're not very impressed with the mod because it limits you from trying random challenges that the only thing they can essentially provide as a bonus is content ideas for people like you and a dozen of other creators, a.k.a. not challenges that may interest a lot of people like the creator of the mod himself or the seasoned players in the first place. And personally, I don't believe that's a bad thing at all. The vanilla GT4 still remains more than a solid game that can satisfy any of these ideas - and it truly has done so already in the years, honestly. So, if you or someone else has the technical know-how to tweak the game the way he truly thinks it should be utilized by all of us, you're more than welcome. Until then, appreciate what's already been done voluntarily, and FOR FREE. 🤷♂️

Worst part is... This isn't even mentioning all the batshit insane takes admie has about the game, & especially about things like tuning mechanics. There were so many complaints I saw about him from both Azullia & TK as well. The man himself who worked on the mod is just a completely different can of worms entirely
@YellowbirdYTАй бұрын
Different can of worms, as you said, while it might seem like missing context it does explain many of the design choices, which have become flaws.

@@YellowbirdYT Indeed, I actually should've mentioned as well that his whole attitude surrounding the game does indeed seem to explain a lot about the design choices he made with this mod, if nothing else.

@@Blueflag04 Tbf, from what I know about Ryno, he also does like to play different things at his own pace. Remember, even tho he owned GT7 25th anniv. edition back when it came out, he still decided to hold that off. I imagine it's party that, alongside admie being the way he is (Additionally, I should also mention admie got into a lot of drama with fellow modder nenkai over FM 2023 in the GT Modding Server back when that game came out. I think that's probably the primary thing Ryno hates admie for, if I had to guess.)

lmao the complaints about the event restrictions are so funny again because you're just upset you can use the same cars over and over, the events being more consistent about the kind of cars being raced is also a great change, they really teach you how to use all kinds of cars for the extreme/endurance events, the complaint about it being a "publicity stunt" comes across as very bitter about the fact that YOU weren't consulted, most of these issues can be and will likely be fixed with patches and it's just a mod, not a remake, not a replacement for the original but a very consistent and enjoyable one, even coming from someone that had its save corrupted 35% in
@demomanchaosАй бұрын
You didn't watch the video did you? He points out specifically that you can no longer do interesting challenges like taking a truck into the Tuner Cup but instead must play the game the modmaker's way and ONLY his way. It is like how in GT7 you can only play it in the specific way the developer wants and no other. I can't make my own tuned car to through into the cup, I have to use someone else's and the option set is so limited that in reality instead of the 12-15 cars you can hypothetically run there is absolutely no reason to not just use the Opera S2000 and get through it because if you are forced into using one of a specific set of cars why would you not just grab the best thing? It is just like how on paper you can run a LOT of different cars in the road car class in GT7, but each race in said class basically devolved instantly into one-make races with the only viable car in the PP limit for that track.
@crashfan360Ай бұрын
@@demomanchaos everything on your wall of text can be done the same with Dodge truck, there are a bunch of tuner cars to buy and get from doing the one-make events
@demomanchaosАй бұрын
@@crashfan360 The Dodge Ram is not a "tuner" car thus doesn't qualify with the new restrictions. I did actually recentlyish did a run where I pushed the Ram to the absolute limits and IIRC I took teh Tuner Cup out with it. It is shockingly quick and has a rather wide range of events it can enter.

Honestly no, he’s got good points. I like that GT4 doesn’t hold you by the hand for its completion and seems like all the changes to the progression are made to predetermine how your playthrough will pan out. The quality of life improvements is all the game needed. If they want to change the game up they may change the content but must keep the game’s philosophy intact
@DisamerdScrollАй бұрын
@@ej22_gc86 problem with that is GT4s main problem always has been a lack of incentive to change/use different cars Its far to easy to mod a GTR and walk over most events, the mod is trying to rectfy some of this by having more restrictions which fair is worse for challenge runs but still It gives a breath of fresh air to most GT4 seasoned players and like I said at the end of the day its just a mod, its not some publicity stunt and its something which can be worked on and updated... heck the fact it exists is commendable

While it might seem that way for you, it’s good to have a difference in opinion. One problem I see all the time is bandwagoning. Some people say something is great, everyone else thinks it’s flawless. There are some flaws with the mod, some changes I don’t fully agree with that I believe would make an overall better experience if changed or reverted. This is exactly how better games are made, with feedback about both the good AND the bad. A lot of the points I heard in this video are total non-issues and pretty over the top complaints for me, but other points are certainly valid and don’t really get talked about as much as they really should.
@jonrodd1693Ай бұрын
I believe if the ones who modded this game for the better under their understanding, truly want to make this game better for let's say almost everyone ( bc really it ain't gonna please everyone) then they should absorb the feed back and go back to the drawing board. Access the situation and come up with something that is more in line with what everyone needs also wants.

This is a mod. Made by a fan. And it’s new. There are many positive things about this mod that you aren’t saying in this video and I don’t know why. Sure a couple of changes here and there don’t make sense, but does a couple of shit car prizes out of the 100 events, road cars coming with road tires, a couple of gameplay tweaks that can be easily changed again to get right really upset you this much?
@YellowbirdYTАй бұрын
Because the negatives outweigh the positives. Everyone will talk about the surface changes you describe, but nobody until I appeared has mentioned the negative effects on gameplay.
@demomanchaosАй бұрын
There are a few useful changes sure, but so many rather moronic ones and many grotesquely overlooked ones that should have been done (Why does the Caterham exist when you literally cannot use it for anything? Seriously, why didn't they remove that arbitrary pointless flag preventing you from using it when we know it is possible as people have done so for challenge runs?!).
@crashfan360Ай бұрын
"nobody until I appeared" get your head out of your ass, what is this unwarranted ego dude
@DisamerdScrollАй бұрын
@@YellowbirdYT The thing is most of the gameplay effects are more of how the mod is forcing/changing the base "sandbox" of GT4 (which is something more subjective overall) like tires, which can go both ways for some seeing as a different take/breath of fresh air and others may see it as a more harder game to play Theres definitely issues, main ones are simple oversights like RUF not being a "tuner car" and Ive found I guess bugs, the AI for example seems to slowdown way more then it did before on the opera paris fast corner after the straight In general tho this is more of a content remix mod but anyways on a more personal level I feel ur getting some heat due to ur wording/how ranty u sound like Even if the mod description talks about challenge runs or whatever its still a fan made mod for a PS2 ISO people will play on an emulator... Its not like its a brand new triple A game that the publisher is asking u 120$ for the premium edition or whatever

All of this video is invalid due to the fact that you didn't mention at all the Engine Sound replacement at all, I like the changes to events because it means you can't just pick a car and steamroll the game with it and the Sport to Road tires change and the Sports tires requirement for most events is great too because it also forces you to use different cars or improve your production run cars instead of LOL YELLOWBIRD or LOL 97 SKYLINE
@AzulliaАй бұрын
Imagine not even watching to 0:22 to hear him mention "the new engine sounds".
@guiteshima14 күн бұрын
If you picked a car and steamrolled through the game that's your fault. You decided to play like that, the game didn't force you or anything. You could still challenge yourself in a future playthrough, or just try out different cars. I'm not gonna say the OG GT4 is a completely balanced experience (In terms of how some type of cars don't have much of a purpose or events they're viable without being too overpowered). But Spec II doesn't really improve upon that... I can't even say it's a band-aid solution because it doesn't address the actual issue with the game to begin with: The AI being bad at the game and the car lineups for events being unbalanced (and being too static... Maybe if the cars you see in the event reflect the type of performance of the other cars in the competition.. Idk, having a sort of dynamic AI lineup)
