we get our tripe from a small local Amish butcher/slaughter house, usually with minutes of the cow being slaughtered. along with getting the heart, Kidney, trachea and pancreas (which took us a few attempts in trying to describe to them what the pancreas is and where it might be located on the animal. Then we learned they know the pancreas as "sweet bread" and now they are more than happy to give us the pancreas/sweet bread also

The tripe for human consumption is bleached, so all of the beneficial enzymes are gone:(

I haven’t found a local source. I just bought venison and lamb green tripe that is air dried. Will they get benefits from air dried?

Dried is ok, but you will lose some of the beneficial enzymes:)

I understand boiling the tripe will lose the beneficial nutrients. How about cook it in a slow cooker? I read the heat from the slow cooker is less intense.

I used to bake and sell dog treats and at the time was looking into obtaining raw tripe to freeze dry and sell. It was very difficult to find a farmer nearby, so I abandoned the idea. Now that we moved to a more rural/country area, I may revisit!! We used to feed Tripett brand, but it is canned.

@@Ma-xt5fz Hi Ma! We use it still. I am sure raw from the cow is always best, and canned is probably 2nd best. The Trippett brand is minimally processed from my experience, and because of that, it smells horrible!! haha But our dog loves it!!

I really would like to start feeding my dog a raw diet (tripe included) but the more I read about it the more I'm confused. I've also read your articles and watched your videos but to be honest I'm none the wiser. The more I try to understand how to fix a bowl for my dog the more I scratch my head trying to put a meal together. For example if I add tripe what other ingredients should I remove, and if I add turmeric or colostrum or mushrooms or eggs... I'm so baffled. I think I'll stick to commercial food.

You don't have to take anything out of the meal when adding tripe. You could start by adding just a teaspoon and working up from there. There is a link in the description for easy recipes to make your own food for your dog!

There are many commercially prepared raw diets for dogs and cats. They’re complete and balanced. Examples include: Small Batch, Steve’s Real Food, and OC Raw Dog just to name a few.😄

Lambs tripe doesn’t smell as much as the beef tripe. I get both for my dog. He loves tripe, and in any case the smell soon goes….just open window for a while….😊

Hi, I've been feeding my dog tripe for a year now, but i boil the tripe and feed her. The reason I give her boiled tripe is because I've observed that she develops tape worms way faster on raw tripe. I want to know if by boiling the trip I am losing out on the nutritional value.. if so, how do I feed her raw tripe without causing her a rapid worm infestation.

Boiling the tripe will kill off the beneficial enzymes. A common way to get rid of parasites in raw meat is freezing it for 2-3 weeks before feeding it. 🙂

I feed her two meals, for breakfast she gets kibbles and for dinner i feed her green tripe as a whole meal along with chicken feet and boiled vegetables. if it is freeze dried it will have more benefits than a dehydrated or cooked tripe. If you can find it raw, that is best!

No, as long as it doesn’t upset them. When my dogs gut was very out of balance, I gave her nothing but tripe and goat milk for few weeks, and worked normal raw back in. She still gets tripe daily, about 30% of her food. I’ve tried taking her off, but the yeast and allergy problems keep coming back
