Dr. Berg, please explain wanting ferrtin low and close to zero?? That sounds so dangerous!! I have suffered from low ferritin and I was close to being not able to function. I had trouble catching my breath, dizzyness, heart palpitations and had to lay down most of the day. The low ferritin caused low red blood cells and hemoglobin counts. I have used iron infusions to correct this and am so thankful that my levels are now normal!!
@beautifullyaligned26 күн бұрын
Yes this is the one time I'm side eyening him because I also had very low ferritin which was causing a whole bunch of issues: depression, fatigue to name a couple.. Thjs isn't the first video he says negative things about iron without considering those of us who seriously are borderline anemic.. Now him saying our ferritin levels should be as close to 0 is really throwing me off. Mine was at a 5 and it seriously made me feel like crap daily.

This time the blood analysis was better, and found out that the first infusion had a slight mismatch. Anyway, my friend now had the hemoglobin back to 12. I am not exactly sure which single factor made it. She eat red meats and liver every day and I gv her supplements : omega3, vit A+d from cod liver oils, b complex, d3 + k2, iodine, copper, ferritin, lactoferin, magnesium, boron, kelp, sea mos, dried beef organ capsules, oregano oils, etc. I suspected that it cud be her using lugols iodine to wash her inside of virgina, as it has growth as shown by ultrasound.

There are many types of anemia. If you have iron deficiency anemia (then you are lucky) start to take every morning a small spoon of cod fish liver oil. Hi Dr. Berg. Could you please clarify something from your video? Early in the broadcast, you mentioned high levels of ferritin signifying an “incredibly efficient recycling system.” Yet, at the very end, you close by saying we should want our ferritin test, “as low to zero as possible”. I’m sure I’m interpreting this incorrectly, so hoping you could clarify. If a high-level is showing our body is incredibly efficient, then why would we also want that number as close to zero as possible? As always, thank you for all the hard work and knowledge transfer.

Now this one i have to disagree with in regards to ferritin. Low ferritin levels contribute to greatly to hairloss…after suffering from a pulmonary embolism and a 2nd trimester miscarriage which i hemmoraged from and lost alot of blood, once we recovered from the hemoglobin loss and anemia, i was still suffering from anemia symptoms heart palpitations, extreme fatigue, losing hair, etc, we found that my ferritin levels were critically low- they were at 17! I did 2 round of iron infusions and supplementing with 1000mg of Vit C and oral liquid iron for 6 months. My levels increased from 17-273! So i have not needed to supplement anymore…All symptoms disappeared and my hair stopped falling out. As a hairsylist, ive also seen this in my clients and the common denominator was low ferritin. So while i love your content I have to disagree with the ferritin levels being close to zero is a good thing for everyone

Once I started taking iron and vitamin c, as prescribed by my Hematologist, I started feeling better. Dr, please address this very confusing claim at the end of your video where you say we should want our ferritin as close to zero as possible. Please understand you have a huge following and thjs has caused confusion that can be dangerous to those of us who already had low ferritin levels and tried for months/years to understand what was going on. I don't understand that either. Had a ferritin-level of 7 and felt terrible (tired, low energy, very long phases of regeneration). Started feeling better with iron supplements, my ferritin went up to 60. Unfortunately, my stomach doesn't like the supplement anymore, so I had to stop taking it and am back to 27 within 4 month - and I feel worse than with 60! Every funktional doctor I heard talking about this topic ist telling you to keep your ferritin at around 100, especially with autoimmun conditions (which I have). And now here we learn, ferritin near zero is best?! I know a lot of women, that had ferritin levels near zero due to heavy menstrual bleeding - they had fatique, hairloss, pale and dry skin.
@karenlipman7545Ай бұрын
Not good to be too low as ferritin helps carry the 02 red blood cells. Low ferritin leads to HAIR LOSS air hunger etc That is why your Doctor gives you iron. Needs to be over 80 re hair loss. Ask a tricologist.

@@Logica87I know, I'm very confused about this. My ferritin is a 3, and I definitely don't have optimal iron/rbc function. I have very small rbc and low energy, memory issues, pale skin. I did for a couple weeks and was still borderline anemic when I donated my 2 pints of blood for the surgery. I went thu surgery OK, but my in- hospital therapy was delayed for 2 days and I was given an IV bag of red blood cells to boost my cells because I was too weak to do anything. Next month, I'm getting my other hip replaced and I'm taking iron supps. I guess I can go off them once I get all healed in a couple months. But also, my platelet count was low (130) on my blood test in Oct., but perked back up into normal range (167) even before iron supps.

But at this point I disagree with you to keep our ferritin to 0.mine levels went down to 16 and I felt sick, dizziness, fatigue, low energy levels, severe hair fall and hair thinning. As a woman our ferritin or iron levels can go lower due to our monthly periods cycles. The day my ferritin levels are fixed through an iron transfusion I started to feel normal and back to my normal life again within 3 to 4 weeks and now after 3 months my hair fall decreased and new hair growth significantly better. I think you should do more research on male and female iron and ferritin levels. Because the study and research must be different for both.

Thank you for this eye-opening video on iron overload and its impact on aging and health! 🙌 [2:30] I never realized how excess iron could be so harmful, driving oxidative stress and contributing to diseases like Alzheimer's and heart disease. The explanation about iron's reactivity and its connection to oxidative damage really stood out-what a crucial piece of the health puzzle! [5:45] The suggestion to monitor ferritin levels via blood tests is a game-changer. It's such a simple yet powerful way to stay proactive about our iron levels. [8:10] The role of copper and other trace minerals in balancing iron is another important takeaway. Incorporating curcumin, melatonin, and lactoferrin into a daily routine seems like a smart, natural way to reduce excess iron while supporting overall health. This video is a must-watch for anyone looking to optimize their health as they age. Thank you for shedding light on such an overlooked yet critical topic
