Sadly the majority of rockstar veterans left the company after red dead 2 it's a completely different culture and writer's and devs and they even went back in GTA V and censored and removed some jokes and character models from the game that the OG devs put in and they said from now on they are toning down the edgy joke's... Personally I think this GTA is going to be a technical marvel but the soul of the game and it's writing is going to be an absolute dip in quality due to most of rockstars veteran talents left especially since all the lead writers left the jokes and writing and edgyness is a huge part of rockstar game's and with entirely new people at the helm of those and are very different than the previous people I don't think this bodes well sadly.

As a nearly 44 year old dude, no other game compares to GTA. I still pick up GTA 5 and play it, mostly online. I beat the main story mode 4 times since 2013. I remember playing it on XBOX 360, then PS4. I still play it here and there, tried many other games, and honestly no other game comes close! I’m waiting for GTA 6 to get a PS5, and I cannot wait for GTA 6 Online! GTA has always been a “jack of all trades, master of none” kind of game for me. I actually think this GTA is going to not make anywhere near the sales of what the last GTA made for several reasons 1 being this is the first console Gen where a lot of people still haven't gotten current Gen and are still using last Gen. 2 the writer's and most of the staff in general at rockstar are completely different people most of rockstar veterans left the company after red dead 2 and the new culture in rockstar is now much softer and they publicly said they are changing the writing style and not making jokes and references that would be offensive to certain communities and even went back in GTA V and censored and removed certain joke's and character models that the previous devs and writer's put in.... It's still going to sell crazy numbers but they put so much money and time in this game that if they don't sell an absurd amount of copies they won't have a great return and it's going to hurt this GTA and if people are starting to not care for GTA online like they used to due to how much they milked players that might not be as wildly successful as GTA online was at it's height of popularity.

GTA 5 was re-release so many time that GTA 6 is being set up more then likely to fail to meet everyone's expectations. Everyone is setting the bar too high and thus the possibility exist that the fan will demand the game come out before its ready(even if it is they will find something to complain about if that is not the case). Thus when they get their demand they will complain just like with the last major game that came out too early. Sure the last game managed to eventually bounce back but would GTA 6 be able to though give that it would be stuck in the shadow of GTA 5 at that point

Not even that RDR2 has surpassed Skyrim in sales and has not even got a next gen port yet. GTA5 has over 200 million sold.

Ik there won't be any proof to this bc like I said in the op, it's not gonna release until we're all dead 🤣 But Skyrim is old af and people still buy and play it. Red Dead is probably one of the best games ever made but its not that old at all and Skyrim was the game of the generation. If Bethesda does Elder Scrolls 6 correctly I still don't think it would beat GTA 6 (mainly due to mainstream appeal) but it would at least not get lost in the shuffle.

Am I the only one that thinks that the GTA series is long in the tooth. Maybe I’m too old (58) , but to me they all play the same, just a different storyline. Too much driving around and wasting time and such. I enjoyed San Andreas(awesome soundtrack) and GTA5 not too much at all. Perhaps they just release new versions for the younger people who haven’t played any others in the series. But obviously the real reason is it’s a money maker, but to me it’s overly hyped and from a gameplay standpoint rather boring.
