Mr. Guillermo once said in an inteview about the FR. novel : "The monster says, 'I have such love in me, more than you can imagine. But, if i cannot provoke it, i will provoke fear.' As a child that was disenfranchised from everything, and that was in a world that was the wrong size, run by the wrong people, the wrong morale and the wrong rules, i felt completely outside of that, and i wanted some measure of control, and the measure of control i found was through fear.” I think this one will be a good one.

I hope, given it's Netflix and he has full creative control, that GDT gives us a blend of Classic Universal & Bernies monster. I like that the actor is 6'5", so it ain't another under 6" guy like DeNiro.

Just imagine the set design and production values and everything else involved with a Del Toro vision of Frankenstein. The Big Screen beckons. @ENTERTAINtheDUDE Here, here. Something tells me (and everyone else) that the algorithm prefers sensationalism and lowbrow clickbait, SO much more than worthwhile content and quality presentation, that the legitimate cream which rises to the top must be something so stellar that it finally forces that algorithm's begrudging hand - 3Blue1Brown, for instance - but then even a channel like Sabine Hossenfelder's popular physics channel is replete with ADHD-baiting production insertions and memes every half-minute, to the consternation of a huge portion of her viewers. But this doesn't change the truth of the matter - just confuses it for everyone. I hope your viewership rise is steady and stable and rewarding; it's worthy conversation, the way you present it.

@justinklenk you may be right on a lot of those points. Everything seems to be click bait these days. I used to enjoy watching certain debates but all of them seem to use the word DESTROYED in the title as an example. @@ENTERTAINtheDUDE True. (We lament these things, in private and in public.) The all-caps baitwords are an increasingly universal turnoff - but they'll just push that thing til the wheels fall off. 😢 (I abstain and unsubscribe, etc, and I do find that I can more and more easily reaffirm, in whatever moment, the continual value of humanity's good ol' timeless, true principles - like mutual respect, or recognizing things done _well,_ etc - and that's naturally its own reward. That works well.)

There had been quite many Frankenstein movies thought the years but NONE have ever came close to the great master piece Boris Karloff made!.Boris Karloff is the only one to portrait the monster in a way that the audience could identify with him by see him not only as a monster but also as a victim/guinea pig type and human being full of pain and sorrow!. Guillermo is NOT going to find an actor of the caliber of the great ICON Boris Karloff!.

I don't mean to be a pedant but adaption is when something has been changed by its environment. Adaptation is changing or updating something to make it better or more functional in a different setting. The latter word should have been used in this instance. Overall though, the video is good.

Thanks. It was a good video and interesting. I just thought I should point the small mistake out as other people are starting to make it as well. Another common mistake is when people say "amount of people" instead of "number of people". "Amount" is used for something like salt or sugar; "number" is for humans. Cheers.

Careful when wishing for "an accomplished director... finally ready to create their dream project" (Peter Jackson's awful 3h21m ""King Kong"). Why is "Frankenstein" any harder to make than, say, "Hellboy" 20 years ago? Could it be that de Toro is the producer for this passion project and it is HIS money on the line? "Abigail" is the 3rd straight vampire movie to eat-sh1t-and-die at the Box Office. "Renfield" earned $26m on a $68m budget. Eggers could put the stake in the heart of classic monster movies for good w/ "Nosferatu" - the guy is an arthouse director at best, I seriously doubt his style is going to make "Nosferatu" an earner during Christmas of all things. Ergo, Del Toro having to pony up his own cash for Frankenstein. I shudder at the thought because Del Toro is a steampunk H. P. Lovecraft crossed with Spielberg. He does tentacles and Kaiju. He's Cronenberg for kids. If he gets the monster right at least then I'm all in. Nobody has done that. It's 8 Foot tall, long flowing black hair, translucent yellow skin pulled so tight it "barely disguised the workings of the arteries and muscles underneath,” watery, glowing eyes, flowing black hair, black lips, and prominent white teeth. It's not an Industrial monster, it's a Romantic one. Written by a teenager raised by radical nutjobs who lost her virginity fucking her married lover on a grave no less.
