I agree on investing in military DEFENSE. Guyana should have known that once you become a major player in the oil industry, you have to find ways to protect your assets. There are always those who will try to take it. I feel its a little late for Guyana to try to prepare militarily for the current conflict. Guyana must get international military help for now, but as for the future, this should serve as a wake up call for the future. God Bless Guyana!!

Call me cynical but with Guyana discovered oil, there is a bigger global power struggle going on here, relic of the old “cold war.” Nicolás Maduro did not arbitrarily decided to resurrect an old claim of Essequibo. I can only speculate here that Russian and Chinese Communist Party do have some fluence over Nicolás's decision. Meanwhile Guyana allies like the US and Britain are making their support and presents known. Some historical perspective is important - The Venezuelan Boundary Dispute officially began in 1841, when the Venezuelan Government protested alleged British encroachment on Venezuelan territory. In 1814, Great Britain had acquired British Guiana (now Guyana) by treaty with the Netherlands from the Dutch. Because the treaty did not define a western boundary, the British commissioned Robert Schomburgk, a surveyor and naturalist, to delineate that boundary. In 1835, the British drew a " Schomburgk Line" demarcation which is the current border between Guyana and Venezuela. Venezuela at this time disputed this line, and claims the border is far east of the Essequibo river. Venezuela blobbily, the US successfully to pressured Britain into an Arbitration Agreement over the dispute. In 1899, the Paris Arbitration tribunal under the treaty of Washington rules, mostly in favor of Britain. Venezuela agree to this result and the original border. In 1962, Venezuela nullify the ruling, claiming the original Arbitrations was influenced by the British. In 1966 (Geneva Agreement) when Guyana gain independence from Britain, the territorial dispute was passed on to the country. President Irfaan Ali and VP Bharrat Jagdeo are doing the right thing by bring the matter to the UN - ICJ International Court of Justice and let them make the decision- and they did - The World Court UNANIMOUS DECISION on Friday ruled pending the final decision of the case, that Venezuela should not take any action to seize control of Guyana’s Essequibo region. Nicolás Maduro referendum is a sham because he jailed everyone who opposes him! ... My 2 Cents - it worth 1 Gilbacka :)

Hey Danny did you read the news about our friend Lt. Col Michael Charles helicopter went down in the area of Ekeruku. Well it got me a bit upset but on a later report they were found , explaining they had instrument problems. Leave them Kaka Belly fish alone. I was in Guyana a couple of weeks ago and you would not believe I went on a trip up Sip A Runi with the boys and lo and behold. You would be surprised what we caught down the falls - 15 bassah, 20 large Lux (no Small ones) three tiger fish and five sweet water gilbaker. No shooting just fishing and no nets. SORRY as this is my last trip which I really enjoyed.
