I have learned French at school for the past year and as a Haitian I am now learning Haitian Creole. I saw that the congregations is probable why I struggled to understand French. But it was easier in Haitian Creole because the ending didn't change much. Also your videos are amazing. Keep it up😁

It's good that you learned French in school. Now that you're learning Creole, you will clearly see how they are closely related. Thanks for the support!

How different do they sound though, anpil ou un peu? As you state in the video ‘the vast majority of Haitian Creole vocabulary comes from French.’ There’s an admixture of syntax and vocabulary from African and Taino languages too, but the origins are mostly French. Mwen renmen the promotion of creole or patois but we need to commence from the correct comprehension of its basis.

African? Not so much only 3 or 4 words on vodoo that’s it but every words we say derived from French, indigenous and words that we created as a nation

Thank the Gods that they removed silent letters just to make the language look like French. Jamaican patwa is trying to do the same but there's a strange loyalty to the anglo spelling system

Is Jamaican Patois the Same as English?
@AviationGeekeditz
@AviationGeekeditz 7 ай бұрын
I am half Jamaican 🇯🇲 and the answer to your question is no. Jamaican patios is an English creole which means it is based off English but is not the same. As patios was created during slavery times and they used a simplified version of the language the slave leaders would use but they mixed in words from African languages such as “bafan” or “anansi” so in cases it can be understood by English speakers but in other cases it can not. Also the sentence structure is different from English 😊

I don’t know why either, those two languages are very different. Probably because Haitian is similar to Franchise and Catalan is similar to Spanish.

Haitian Creole is a dialect of French.

That’s right Catalan is spoken in North Eastern Spain up to the border with France, so the language amalgamates elements of French and Spanish. SíOui/wi I’m in accord with seeing all creoles as a dialect of French.
