Can't say I've followed the channel since you left Canada but now I'll keep an eye out. I'm from Ontario and my favorite Canadian travel destination is east cost Canada. I’m from Ontario and I just came back from Halifax literally a day after you uploaded this!! it was so amazing and we stayed in the Marriott on the boardwalk!! it was absolutely beautiful!! also the peace by chocolate place is to die for, so! good! Plus the Black Sheep restaurant, they have this tomato soup and lobster ravioli that was the most delicious dish I’ve ever had in my life! Delicious! Also the Lower Deck and Cows lines were super long!! Love Halifax so much!!! also the flights are cheap to Halifax, that’s why a lot of people from Ontario spend a weekend there

So good to see you back home! I so missed Canadian vistas, especially the Atlantic ones which remain way too unfamiliar to me as an Ontario resident. My fondest desire is to see more of this awesome country. I became a Canadian in 1976 and still think it was, by far, the best decision I've ever made. All this is to say, I am delighted to see Canadian travelogues once more. The world is fine but Canada is best! Lol.

"Best" is such a subjective descriptor. It all depends on each individual's priorities and interests. For example, if someone really values an outdoorsy lifestyle and natural beauty, then Vancouver undoubtedly would rank as Canada's best city. On the other hand, if a person is highly ambitious and entrepreneurial, then Calgary or Toronto would be the ideal Canadian city. And, if someone wants to be immersed in a cosmopolitan atmosphere, with deep history and surrounded by cultural events, then Montreal would be the winner. Noe, if someone else loves the ocean and the folksy, down home charm of a smaller city, plus less expensive housing, then it sounds like Halifax would fit the bill.
@DelightfulTravellers2 жыл бұрын
We'd agree...if it were 10 years ago.... the thing is.. Halifax has everything you just mentioned at a more affordable price. People are just figuring this out now Terry - Trevor
@terryomalley19742 жыл бұрын
@@DelightfulTravellers I've heard that, somewhat paradoxically, tye pandemic kind of benefited Halifax, in terms of people escaping the big city, often Toronto or somewhere in Southern Ontario, look for a better work-life balance, less crowding and more affordable housing. Sounds like Halifax is doing well. Good to see, since for so long, the migration was in the other direction.

@prismblack50032 жыл бұрын
someone had to say it. Its a horrible housing crisis and the tax is rediculous. Traffic is the worst and no parking downtown. These people have to be rich because the average person in Halifax is struggling and has to work 2 jobs..

It's a city with a so called high standard of living yet there are so many homeless people and panhandlers downtown and in the middle of the city core. I live there and see it. Lots of grotty poor alcoholics. I live there though I am used to seeing that and can get around it well

Halifax isn't what it's cracked up to be. It's got a really nice shiny veneer from a distance, but as you get closer, you really start to see the faults. Spend some time there and you're going to see all of the problems. If I didn't have to live here for my job, I would consider moving anywhere else.

I dont want to be the bearer of bad news but what they don't mention is that with all these people coming here, housing crises started, with people moving from "richest" places like Ontario and British Columbia they were willing to pay over 200 K for a house and now there's a housing crises too because there's no place for people to live. Many live in tents because they can't afford high prices nor is there place to live...it's a huge problem. Plus of course human trafficking which has become is a huge problem and I believe we are on the too list from whole Canada....so...it's not all pink and roses, unfortunately

Halifax is nicer than a war zone and relatively safe from un-targeted violent crime, but anyone that thinks it's near the best city in Canada is delusional. Rent is Toronto-high with one of the lower minimum wages in the country. The wait for a family doctor is years. People are dying in their driveways waiting for ambulances that aren't coming, the police chief just threatened to bring in four other police departments to remove the shelter of the homeless population (which is disproportionately high for a tiny city), the transit sucks (due to staffing shortages, due to planning failures, wait times of an hour for some routes if it's an evening, weekend, or holiday, especially if you are poor), almost no funding for meaningful mental health supports, flip-floppy government that no matter if wearing red or blue will do the opposite of what they were elected to do, some of the highest relative property taxes around but it doesn't show in infrastructure, a horribly polluted harbour with current warnings about the toxicity of it all, one of the most elderly populations in the country but an elder care system pretty much run by two corporations who have no staff and won't invest in necessary equipment so seniors are told to piss in their incontinence products until someone can deal with them or it's time for their budgeted diaper change and staff are often provided only one mask (to go between clients and then we all wonder why COVID sweeps the facilities). Halifax is a trash heap which is refusing to help itself. You can paint a mural on a pig but it's still a pig.

Way to short of a video on Halifax, very disappointing. Should be twice as long and should have been shot at supper time on the Halifax waterfront. Need to do better than a short 15 minute video on the Halifax waterfront, not impressed!
@mooseknuckle83342 жыл бұрын
I'd have to disagree. I grew up here and to see what it has become makes me sad. The bottle neck streets are a bit much along with the amount of bus lanes. Not to mention the homeless encampments popping up in tax paying citizens parks. The rent is absolutely ridiculous or buying for that matter...and the politicians just take a paycheck.

Where's all the homeless people ?! They've been everywhere since the police have been amping up the coordinated harassment of people congregating in the groups in the parks, or mini-tent cities. Fun fact of the day! Halifax is actually going through such an insane housing crises, that rates of displacement are higher then ever, and even regular working people are now facing living in the streets as a very probable likely hood 😃😃 People born and raised here have been outpriced of the rental market and now the majority of young nova Scotians (even outside of Halifax) are having to face the facts that they will never own property, even in their hometowns. They've been outpriced in Halifax by buyers in other provinces, the native haligonians are being forced into small towns and outpricing the people who live there, and the mass epidemic of people opening air bnb's all over the province isn't helping anyone, especially our hotel and housing industries. There's gotta be a way for us all to live here together, but all the new developments are not tailored or made affordable to people who are actually from here, and its causing mass displacement. (Also fyi, maybe ask the people politely to get off the Queen's marque steps, if this was filmed near the end of July the wastewater pump broke and the harbour was filled with very harmful bacteria. I just looked it up, as of yesterday Aug 1, the wastewater is still getting pumped into the harbour. Might be good to go back and cut that footage for people's health and wellbeing so they don't get sick if they decide to visit here soon.)
