Is Harbinger Necro secretly GOOD in BLOB fights? GW2 WvW Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons World vs World

Harbinger may not DPS like Repaer or Strip like Scourge, but perma quickness, fury and full set elite boons make it a great hybrid character.

You aren't wrong, but 5 is a great CC, 4 is CC and good damage, 3 is good damage. With 1-2 Harbinger Shroud skills you have to just be careful and adjust to the enemy group, when there are reflects you need to immediately stop attacking, pick up any stranglers away from tags, range dps downed states and also look for gaps in reflects, there are quite a few windows usually once you get used to looking for them. With Boon Duration increase you'll generate enough Quickness and Fury for your party, so even if you need to swap away from Shroud because of too many reflects your team will still have enough boons meanwhile. As for Elite potion, you can throw it on your feet, outside of reflects / projectile blocks, it's mostly for boons because you aren't condi build anyway. Don't forget you're still Necro, so you have Wells, weapons sets: Axe/Focus, Scepter/Dagger and Staff skills, which with 3 exceptions are not projectiles.

Just curious, was your build power or condi based?

It's a hybrid power with some concentration for about +40-47% boon duration, but it still does decent damage.

Power, yes. It's definitely more squishy than Reaper because of low health pool, but you do get some evades on Shroud 4. In PUG groups it's hard, because commanders will put you to party with no support because u are not running Meta. In guild group with great support like the one in this video Harbinger offers great value. They have nerfed quickness uptime in Firebrand, Scrapper and some other classes, so HB with 40%+ boon duration can offer near perma quickness and a lot of CC too.

It's true that there are very little gaps when a 50 man squad does not have either a projectile reflects or blocks, but the downed states that need to be cleaved at range usually don't. All good zergs, including tier 1 blobs have some slackers off tagging. Better zerg = less slackers but there are ALWAYS some slackers. In addition to that this isn't really a projectile build, you dip in and out of Shroud as needed. Staff = 4 skills that are not projectiles; Axe/Focus = 4 skills that are not projectiles; Scepter/Dagger = 4 skills that are not projectiles; Harbinger shroud = 3 skills that are not projectiles; All 3 Wells = also not projectiles. You really can't call this a "Projectile Build".
