@@chrismcphatter7218 the 883 sportster is a great example, as illustrated by the YN team when they had one, the whole bike is kind of crap from factory. They replaced so much on that bike to make it acceptable to ride, that it was hardly factory anymore. Not to mention they're like 9k new.

Great report! Couple of comments: 1) Since 1974 or so when H-D put that stylish "Cobra" style seat on them, Sportsters have ALWAYS had a too-short distance between the seat and the mid-pegs. It puts the knees up into what becomes an uncomfortable angle after a while (especially for an old guy like me). That's why "legacy" Sportsters demand either highway pegs or forward controls. 2) Some aftermarket company is going to make a fortune selling exhaust systems for the Nightster. It sounds terrible in every video I've seen about it. And I've seen just about all of them that have been produced so far ;)

I bought this bike on Memorial Day and I love it . I recently took it to THE TAIL OF THE DRAGON and its performance reminds me of my Ducati Monster 696. It does have a no start problem. Harley Davidson’s answer for now to unplug and plug in the wiring harness for the two handlebar modules. The wiring harness is on each side of the air box behind a plastic cover. I have Harley Davidson giving me new modules to permanently correct this problem I hope.

True, but the wet weight is also only 487 lbs. With 200 pounds of rider, the power to weight is still better than a Porsche Boxster S with a 200 lb driver.
@pebear2 жыл бұрын
The original intent to the sportster was to compete with Triumph, Norton and BSA in races. That's why it originally came with right side shift and the Ironhead sportsters were tall bikes, they were not short bikes. I have a 73XLCH and I'm 5'5" and I stand on the balls of my fee when I ride my sportster vs when I ride flat footed on my 2001 Fatboy. That higher ride hight was to allow bettering cornering on the track. Then years later HD started to sell sportsters low to the ground and that kind of takes away it's intended purpose, A sporting bike.

well since it's under 500lbs again maybe they will come back out with a scrambler model like the early xlch were

These bikes are not for the Older Fans of Harley. This and hopefully the Bronx (if it comes) is for a younger generation that is not interested in the biker gang look of Harleys. Nearly every Harley looks alike to people that are not Die Hard Fans of HD and that is a problem for HD if they want to continue to sell bikes. The older generation will die off. HD is fully capable of producing bikes for two different demographics of riders. This bike is a huge leap forward in doing that. That just can't give up on it after one or two years. They have to fully commit to an build on it and promote the hell out of it. Its the first HD I have ever seen I would actually buy. I love the VRod but HATED the forward controls. HD can not continue to survive on a demographic that is getting smaller each passing year.
