I think that whole announcement video James Gunn did back in January 31, 2023 isn't entirely set in stone and shouldn't be taken entirely as such. He didn't really tell us what the entire universe was going to be like but just a few projects that have already been greenlit from the point in time. It wasn't even the whole first phase that Gunn was talking about. Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters is still a mystery with not much to go off of. These current projects that have been announced don't seem to have any sense of progression or buildup to something like the MCU had. Not saying that's a bad thing but something to keep in mind. Gunn is and should be allowed to go back on his word if he feels he has to change some stuff that isn't working in the movies. Marvel already did some course correction. It's why Kang Dynasty is now being changed to Doomsday. Whether certain people like or hate these changes is a them issue for now. We just need to see the execution to make a proper judgement first.

In 2023 I would have thought it impossible for the two universes to merge, but now? We see how Gunn really meant when he said he wanted the DCU to be very diverse and preserve the filmmakers' vision, we have a Lantern series described as very grounded and real in the same universe as a Swamp Thing by James Mangold and Superman by Gunn and Sgt Rock by Luca Guadagnino.
@oliversvoice438317 күн бұрын
Here’s the thing with Pattinson in the DCU… I don’t like the idea of his Batman being in that universe, due to the stylistic differences, but as you said, that’s not necessarily a bad thing given how different Gotham and Metropolis are. Plus, just because we’ve got a grounded ‘Crime Saga’ at the moment, bringing Pattinson’s Batman into the DCU would open the door to his Batman discovering and facing more supernatural/fantastical threats, and that could lead to a fascinating story from Bruce’s perspective. Ultimately, though, I just don’t see Robert Pattinson signing on to something like the DCU. I don’t know him personally, but he seems to be very selective with what he does (having done indie films post Twilight, with The Batman being his first film in the Hollywood system since) so the notion of joining a ever growing connected universe just doesn’t seem like something he’d jump at, doubly so if Reeves isn’t directing.

Guys, I know that everyone asked for my opinion here it is. I say just scrap the older Batman idea. We just did it with Ben Affleck. The whole point of The Batman is that Batman must become a symbol of hope instead of vengeance, and hope is one of the words the most tied to this new Superman. It would be cool to see these two new heros rising and their different approaches to solving crime. Also, if we get this new Batman, it will be directed by Andy Muchetti, which after his latest interview, I don't want him to touch a DC character ever again, especially Batman.

I'm pretty sure Gunn shot down the idea of a middle aged Batman. I'm pretty sure he just said that the Batman we will be seeing in the Brave and the Bold will be more experienced who's probably fought crime for over a decade. So I think he'll probably be 31 years old in the film or around that age.

The whole "it wouldn't make sense due to tone differences and the involvement of fantastical elements" mindset is very stupid because the comics & other DC media do it. The same goes for all superhero/supervillain/superantihero media. Any real fan of such media knows that the tone differs based on not only what character/group of characters is/are in question, but also what kind of story is being told. Batman(AKA Bruce Wayne) is a brooding, no-nonsense, & to-the-point person who only shows lighter aspects of his personality to those he has close relationships with, while Superman(AKA Clark Kent and Kal-El) is an upbeat & optimistic "boy scout". The whole "jumping around to different points in the timeline" thing that James Gunn is supposedly planning to do is another reason why the 'The Batman' film series & directly connected media can be retroactively established as taking place in the DC Gunnverse(I refuse to call it "the DC Universe" as that's too non-specific of a name for it). The 'The Batman' film series & directly connected media and the film 'Superman'[2025] could be established as taking place many years(preferably 20-something years) before the planned film that's being referred to as "The Brave And The Bold"(I *really* hope that they start calling it something else, like "Batman And Son" or "Batman And The 4th Robin"). Personally, unless they transition Matt Reeves's take on the Riddler(AKA Edward Nygma and Edward Nashton) to being more like how the character is traditionally portrayed and give him a proper Riddler outfit, and unless they replace the horrible depiction of the Joker shown in that deleted scene made for 'The Batman'[2022], I'd rather the 'The Batman' film series & directly connected media be set in their own universe. I also don't want the DC Gunnverse to have a blackwashed Jim Gordon, though if Barbara Gordon(who becomes Batgirl) were depicted as being of mixed race and didn't have brown skin, that would certainly be better than having a full-on "black" Barbara Gordon, but it would still be preferred for Jim and Barbara to be "white".
@joeker520817 күн бұрын
You bring up wanting it to be a one-way streak when it comes to cameos, and that right there is why I don’t want this universes crossing over. I want to see a Batman that fully embraces the bright and colorful aspects of not just his mythos, but the whole DC universe. Not cower away and only appear in Justice League film or what have you. I want to see other DC characters sometimes appear in Gotham during a Batman story, like Flash, or Green Arrow, Black Canary, Superman, or Green Lantern. Show Bruce’s and other heroes’ place in a fully connected universe. Not segment them off for one very direct vision

If Matt Reeves Batman is going to join the DCU then I think a lot of changes or course corrections need to be adjusted before before Robert Pattinson joins the rest of the DCU cast. Matt may need to be cautious and frequently talk to Gunn with what he's doing on his end in terms of the in-universe narrative. I'm pretty sure Kevin Feige also does the same with his directors when crafting new film and television projects. Either Brave and The Bold gets scrapped in favor for another movie or that movie might be heavily altered to essentially be the Batman part 4. As for Talia Al Ghul and Damian Wayne, I don't know if they still want to do that story arc. Battinson is still relatively young and he doesn't come across as the older parental type to me just yet. I think the crime saga, maybe in another spin-off show they introduce Ra's Al Ghul. I don't know how Matt may want to adapt this character into his narrative. Depending whether or not if Matt is going to go in a semi-fantastical route with his future Batman projects, we might end up getting another grounded Ra's Al Ghul for prediction's sake. Just like in the Dark Knight trilogy where he's not immortal. Just a memory that mentality haunts Battinson in his future life decisions. Only this time he's being used just to introduce Talia later down the line. Pattinson will continue to get older and grow with the character and maybe eventually he continues to stay on into his 40s because he's currently 38 but still looks like he's in his 20s when he did the Batman (2022). I believe he was 22 when he first did Twilight and he was actually 17 when he was in HP and the Goblet of Fire. Point being I think it's still feesable that he can still be the DCU Batman. It's just that if Gunn wants to do the Bat family in this universe, Gunn and Reeves may need to be quick about and use Reeves Batman movies wisely into how it might affect other canon movies. Matt might needs to be very selective in what villain from Batman's rouges gallery to use and how to limit and/or challenge himself with how fantastical he can get. Because one thing that felt kind of off to me about the Dark Knight trilogy was how other-worldly Gotham city looked in Batman Begins but then gradually became Chicago or Wall Street come the other two installments. There was some visual inconsistency with that trilogy and at times I did not know what the original plan was for Batman Begins had it had a different outcome with a different direction. Which is why I'm at least glad that the Dark Knight wasn't canon to the DCEU because then it would've been a whole lot worse. So knowing that, even though there's plenty of evidence to show that it can happen with Pattinson joining the DCU, at the same time people neglect the contridictions that also arise and have already been made apparent in both the Penguin series and Creature Commandos.

I stand by that I don’t think it makes sense. I would say this world is too realistic but admittedly we probably need more projects in the Reevesverse to definitively say that, but aside from being realistic, I just don’t think these movies are gonna line up well enough to work when Brave and the Bold is gonna have an established Batfamily and I don’t think going through the hassle of either changing B&tB to fit with The Batman and have to build up the Batfamily from the ground up (which admittedly might be coming from a place of bias cause I wanna see Nightwing and Red Hood on the big screen already) or out of nowhere have Batman suddenly aged up like 10 years or something in just his second movie maybe would be worth it so I just say let DCU Batman be entirely different, let him go up against some fantastical enemies like Ra’s Al Ghul with the Lazarus Pit, give him the blue and grey suit with white eyes, we’ve had enough black and grey or all black with no white eyes to last us a lifetime, just do it all without having to change Robert Pattinson’s Batman that drastically when I really don’t think it’s needed. And I don’t wanna hear from anyone “Oh, but it’d be weird and confusing for some people to have two different Batmen on the big screen”, news flash, a year after The Batman came out, The Flash brought back both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton, if we can have 3 Batmen in the span on a year, two of which being in the same dang movie, Battinson can exist at the same time with DCU Batman especially with how different they’re gonna be, it’s fine, and if people are stupid enough to get confused about it then maybe they should go back to school or something and get their brainpower up

The biggest problem with this argument is that from a direction and tone standpoint, it really doesn't make sense for Pattinson to be the DCU Batman because The Batman universe is completely grounded whereas the DCU is a totally fantastical universe where there's more flashy comic book-y action, and actual supervillains across the board than grounded villains like The Batman universe focuses on. Putting Pattinson's Batman in the DCU would be not only so jarring, but also incoherent because of what the DCU is all about, on top of Robert Pattinson himself not really having the physicality that a fantastical Batman needs to be to make it make sense in a universe where there's many super powered villains and cosmic world ending threats, and all kinds of crazy flashy stories.

The grounded setting of The Batman would never work with the rest of the DCU.
