I’ve played on the Arcadia cloth too. I have Simonis 860 on my table like you, but what I’ve experienced is the difference on a Calley table (regardless of the cloth) is the rails don’t react like a Diamond or Rasson table. I believe that is the element that bewitches us with speed control. You’re so accustomed to that nice Diamond table that a Valley needs a whack of a stroke to get similar action out of the balls. But one thing is watched closely in this video is your stroke. When you got really good speed/position you finished your stroke well. Other times you were “punching” shots and got sluggish reactions. I’m sure some of it had to do with speed factors playing on your mind, but you stroke and play well when you finish every shot. I can’t recall ever seeing you miss when that ferrule is still at the end of your stroke. Especially on your break shot.
@Amateur_Pool Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight! I know i have some inconsistencies in my stroke (mainly my follow through) been trying to work on it. Just takes time!

Hey Josh, I was in Alaska for 3 weeks on a job over 10 years ago. I ate lunch in a bar that had a couple pool tables. There was a young guy playing I would guess in APA would be a 4-5 (At the time I was a solid 6). He was decent. I put quarters on the table and finished eating. He played worse after I put $ on the table and against me. After loosing 3 games he asked if I wanted to play for $50. I asked why would someone loose 3 games then want to play for money unless he was a hustler? He said "I'm not a hustler but maybe I haven't been playing my best. I asked how he knew if I was playing my best. ( I wasn't. It's fun hustling a wanna be hustler.) After listening to a bunch of his bs I said, we can do a race to 4 for $50. Show me your money. He swore up and down he had $50 but he refused to show it to me the way I showed him I had $50. I said unless you show me the money and we give it to the bartender to hold I'm not going to bet with you but we can shoot a few more games and you can show me your best game. I smoked him and he left without saying a word. I said, "You have a lot to learn." He didn't respond.

It’s crazy to me the difference between a 6/7 in some regions vs 6/7s in other regions. I hate that the handicap is based on how much you win vs how you play. Even though i know they can’t watch everyone play lol
@Amateur_Pool Жыл бұрын
ya, there are differences for sure. When you get out to Vegas, you can tell what areas have strong shooters and which areas don't
@MrAntup Жыл бұрын
Handicap is based on pulling it out of the air. And everytime you beat a better player you are a sandbagger. They didn't play bad you are under handicap. A 6 gets one game from a 7 in a race to 7 so there is basically no difference. Also they never move i got moved to a 6 from a 5 because i beat an 11 ,5 nothing. The fact that some how they hung the 9 3 times and i made the 9 on the break and then a quick combo. I had 7 shots in 5 games i was still a 5. Next time i played them they won 11 1 did they drop my handicap nope. If handicaps are real they should move. The worst is if you beat a long time 7 that is now really a 5. The complaining is non stop. You win you are sandbagging if you lose you are sandbagging.

Billy is a 6 at the most, he missed 3 kicks by quite a bit and his banking is not very strong either. 7 being the top level makes him a 6 or strong 5, you didn't play well and lost a game with 2 or 3 ball in hands. If you don't play well then a weaker player now becomes a threat. It was yours for the taking but you couldn't close it out after a few chances. Josh is definitely better than Billy and in pretty much every aspect of the game but one thing that any ranking system doesn't account for is choking. Easy to win the easy wins, it's the tough ones that make you a money player.

Is it loser breaks in your league? Why?
@Amateur_Pool Жыл бұрын
No.. i screwed up when i edited. Notice he breaks there, wins that rack, then i break in the next rack. I somehow flip flopped those 2 tracks in editing, and didn't catch it.. 😕
