Would MJ do it today? Well, he did it against defence and there is no defence today. He would wreck today's offensive show ponies. LeBronwyn Jane looks like an NFL linebacker playing in a celebrity match when he shoots. Whole teams playing D couldn't stop MJ, who would stop him today? Lebronda has no bag and would get bullied until he cried in a man's league. LeBronwyn plays in the WNBA compared to MJ.
@andrewvolf2916

Players today are better at shooting 3 pointers, THAT'S IT. They shoot against no defence so they probably not even better at that. Your offence goes up against your opponent's defence, agreed? So, in a league with no defence shouldn't everyone appear more talented offensively? Numbers still don't stack up to MJ. There used to be travelling, today is a disgrace for that. As for assists, they just give them away these days. MJ had to spoon feed a team mate for an open layup to get an assist. Why is everyone stopping watching the NBA if the players are so good? Everybody used to watch just to see MJ play and nobody is close to MJ's level today. If you think LeBronwyn is better then you don't know basketball at all. Get off the crack.

Jordan was primarily a slasher in the 1980s. Then he relied more on his jump shot in the mid to late 90's. @@Torie988 How do you know that he doesn't know that no one fears your savior, Lebron? Fear of that type is common at most places in life (home, work, military, gang, among friends, etc.). Your feeble attempt to discredit Jordan's greatness by attributing his impeccable dominance to be that his peers were "scared" just tells us all you know about basketball. If you think the Piston (who made special rules for Jordan, something nobody will and has ever done with Savior Lebron) were afraid of Jordan, then think again. If they feared Jordan, then there was a reason why. Have you sat there and asked why they feared him? Also, you can't say that Jordan was this dominant mostly because his peers feared him, but then dispute and get defensive when someone said that nobody fears Lebron. You are arguing that players fear Lebron, but want to knock Jordan for people fearing him. Make a logical argument, young man.

We get it, you're not gonna lie. Jordan in his prime would average 50 today. Back then they played defense, took charges. Jordan was also defensive player of the year in 1988. His league featured many of the greatest players ever, Bird, Magic, Kareem, Olajuwon, Isaiah, Malone, Barkley, Miller, Pippen, Robinson, Drexler... and you're asking if he was competing against chumps. @@Torie988 The stuff in the mixtape Jordan would do literally every game. He was a walking highlight reel. The really thrilling thing about watching him was in the playoffs, seeing what a competitor he was. The Bulls faced very tough opponents every year, the Eastern Conference was super tough and it was never a walk in the park for them. Jordan was so fierce and carried them so many times. They 3-peated, then he went to try pro baseball and they didn't win, then he came back and they 3-peated again. He'd already cemented his place as the goat with the first 3-peat. The second just reconfirmed that we'd never see anything like him again and we haven't. Just a few include: Bird, Magic, Kareem, Shaq, Olajuwon, Barkley, Drexler, Ewing, Duncan, Robinson, etc. Jordan is the reason that some of the all time greats never won a ring. Would Jordan have a 48” vert in today’s game. Would he run 4.3?? Would he have amazing footwork?? Those things translate against any defender. I’ll listen when people say that LeBron or Kobe are thier GOAT. If that is all you have seen, sure. What is utterly silly is when someone claims to know something or know better than people who have literally watched all three play fully in context. It’s so narcissistic to say you know more or better than someone who has more knowledge about something. No one will take you seriously or your opinion if you don’t put in the work. But he was a lot more than that. Imagine this... 1) layup package comparable to Kyrie. 2) bigger hands than Kawhi to palm the ball (Lebron not even in top 10 in hand size) 3) faster than Lebron (40 yds in 4.3 seconds compared to Lebron's 4.6. Fastest sprinters in the world are around 4.2. The difference between Jordan and Lebron's speed is greater than Jordan vs the fastest sprinters in history), 4) jumps so high and has the longest air time they literally call him "Air Jordan". 5) set the record for most 3 points in a NBA finals in a half (at 6) which has been tied but not broken by Curry and Klay. 6) fast reflexes that there were games where he'd make 7-9 steals a game. 7) He also had better mid range shooting than Lebron (watch the Best GOAT comparison). You also keep missing a lot of things in the vid. You said you saw 2 3pt shots.. dude, they showed his 6 3pt game in this vid.

Kid - Michael was the greatest basketball player of any kind, on both sides of the ball, ever, against FAR tougher competition than anything now. He didn’t just do what everybody does better than anyone - he magically reinvented the entire game every night, and owned every man, woman, child or inanimate object in the fifty mile square of wherever he was, not to mention wrapping the league around his finger as both a player and a marketing phenomenon. Every time the Chicago Bulls played, the world’s entire sports fan-base considered it must-see TV. His thermonuclear impact on sports was unprecedented then and now. There is no one on Michael Jordan’s planet, let alone anyone even remotely worthy of being compared in some kind of “GOAT” competition. To even try to cook up such a fake debate is laughable.

The league thrived and grew exponentially with Jordan, whereas the NBA is losing popularity precipitously on LeBron's watch. Larry Bird's Celtics vs Magic's Lakers kept the NBA from losing coverage from CBS in the early 80's, because it was a real rivalry by men who gave it 100%. Then Michael Jordan elevated the game internationally and made it lucrative. They all had a love for the game before it became a league of pampered prima-donnas, who love the money and fame, not the game. The Detroit Pistons were the first team to have a private jet when William Davidson purchased one in 1987 due to the popularity that MJ brought to the game. John Salley stated that was a seminal factor in them winning Championships in 1989 & 1990. Players benefit from their predecessors and have more resources, science, and medical advancements that they have no excuse for not being better. Even the WNBA lost its perfect opportunity to have a heated rivalry with Caitlin Clark's Fever vs Angel Reese's Sky that would have rivaled that of Celtics vs Lakers, but Angel Reese (like many NBA players) is an ingrate. You'll see more passion from amateur players during a pick-up game at a random gym. Players now change teams more often than parents change diapers for a baby after Taco Tuesday. However, the contents of said diapers doesn't stink nearly as much as the attitudes of many NBA/WNBA players.

Young people today are the ones who started that dumbass rumor that competition wasn't good back then. A lot of the players today wouldn't survive back then. The rules were different players were allowed to be more aggressive. They played much harder and much more aggressive. Couldn't cry foul like you can today. Couldn't do the flopping. Jordan was that good. This is the NBA man. They were paying people millions of dollars to play basketball. They weren't paying no scrubs. Ain't nothing new under the sun. Yeah I really think people just learn how to play basketball in the last 20 years??! Stop being silly

Kareem, Dr. J, Bird, Magic, Jordan, Hakeem, Shaq, Kobe, Iverson, Vince, LeBron, Duncan, Luka, Giannis, and more have made the best players in the world look like they don’t belong on the same court. Jordan was def a 99 slasher, but he was primarily a shot creating midrange shooter. Kevin Durant even said he STILL studies Jordan. Also, don't knock the 90s players, Jordan even as a 35 year old passed his prime was STILL the best player in the league by a decent margin.. a league with great players and team such as The Twin Tower Spurs, David Robinson and Tim Duncan. The 4 allstar Lakers, Shaq, Kobe, Nick Van Exel, and Eddie Jones. The Jazz Stockton Malone Duo. The Heat Alonzo Mourning and Tim Hardaway Duo. The Sonics Payton Kemp Duo. Reggie Millers Pacers. Patrick Ewings Knicks. or some of the earlier teams like Barkleys Suns. Dominiques Hawks. Bad Boy Pistons. Hakeems ROckets. Drexlers Trailblazers, etc. Along with greats Guards and F like Penny Hardaway, Tracy Mcgrady, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, Ray ALlen, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, Ben Wallace, etc.. Also if you think Kyrie has a better layup package, I suggest you watch "Michael Jordan Jelly Layup Highlight Mix" to see a small fraction of some of his great layups.

Today's NBA is essentially an extended three point shooting contest. Are you suggesting that MJ, the greatest to ever do it, would NOT thrive in an era with defensive three seconds, no hand checking and flagrant fouls that are called if the defender accidentally touches the offensive player? Calling the players of the 1980's and 1990's trash because they do not play in today's NBA is ignorance of the highest order. IMHO, the 1980's represent the best of the NBA. Then again, I was there and religiously watched it. Compared to today's NBA, give the 1980's 100 times out of 100.

Yes, they were terrified. Even Shaq admits that he was terrified of the man. He wasn't that good, that really doesn't say it. He was different. And as far as competition. Bird, Magic, Kobe, Barkley, Stockton, Malone, Olajuwon, Shaq, Hardaway, Robinson, Ewing, Drexler, Rodman, Mutombo, Hardaway, Mourning, Isiah, Laimbeer, Parish, Walton, McHale..... the list goes on and on. Trust me, he had great coemption, a lot of hall of famers. A few things to remember. The first thing, back then centers were allowed to camp out in the paint, they didn't have to run around all night. That's why there were 7 and a half foot, 350 pound monsters back then. Today they have to run all night so you don't have those monsters camping out under the net just waiting for you. That will take years off your career. In today's game you can easily tack on another 8 years to MJ's career. Second, Jordan was catching bodies all night every night at a time where defenders could get away with a lot, and I mean a lot. Watch some of the Piston vs Bulls play off games from back then, it was brutal. That will also take years off a career. LBJ has never been tested like that. I would honestly love to see what he would do if he drove to the net and got body checked from someone like Shaq, Mutombo, or Laimbeer. But we'll never know. But here's the facts. In today's game MJ would average 40 easy, he might even average 50. He would also still be one of the best defenders in the game and his career would have probably lasted twice as long. And I'm sorry to tell you, but if I were making a team from all the players that ever played when they were in their prime, Lebron wouldn't even make my bench. He's shooting less than 75% at the line, less than 35% when 3 foot or more from the rim, and about 20% in the clutch. On my allstar team my starting SF would be Bird with Pippen as the #2. I'm not saying that LJ is trash, he's great at what he does. He's just really bad at some really important things.
