I feel like Tom chose the words for the hook carefully; he constructed the lyrics to the point where ever reasonable person can relate to where he's coming from and is almost universally understood that 'the man', 'the system', whatever you want to call it, doesn't care what skin color you are when they're grooming your 7yo in gov training camps or shutting down your business as part of the '"Great" Reset". I feel like Tom took that route on purpose as to highlight our overwhelming similarities as opposed to minor yet conflated differences propagated by the news media. There are individual issues that can be worked and solved once the discourse isn't so inherently toxic and grown adults aren't incentivized to argue with their heavily-manipulated feelings. It's like a husband and wife talking after a fight: they wait till emotion isn't running their thought process and THEN try hashing it out. 2 things specifically annoy me when it comes to Tom's haters. The 1st is the guy who says he only famous for talking about controversial issues; then bitch, if that's the supposed glitch in the matrix, why isn't everybody taking that route? If that is a free pass to 3+mil subscribers, e'eryone would be at 3mil by now. And 2, which is mostly the sheeple who drive-by hate just to leave comments, is the claim losing credibility by the day that Tom is a terrible rapper. You may not like the MFer; fine. But don't insult my intelligence by telling me you're too much of a child to get over your feelings bc it hurts your pride so terribly to admit Tom is a good rapper. Problem Tom has is he raps about substance and matters he finds important; imagine if he releases this song and every flow is in double time so even the most astute student is going to miss a lot of the message. Nonetheless it's a great problem to have as a rapper: continuously (even if falsely) identified as non lyrical simply because the shit you rap about actually has meaning. Cause Tom knows he'll beast it in that lane, as well, but rapping fast does not necessarily equate to talent. Thing is the latest youtube guy going on Ellen to show his 3x flow won't be remembered by next Monday; Tom's relevance is already etched in stone.
