Greetings from Colorado, Harry! As usual, well DONE lad! As the '24 FOS shows so clearly, Goodwood-style events have grown so dramatically that there's a need for other new events. Heck, if one doesn't have special access, FOS has become too large for many. Whether 3 or 7 day events, as you pointed out, 10,000 people is great for many who like to get close to the cars and events. This whole video is as good as any I saw at FOS around the Supercar Paddock, the MANY Hillclimb events or the Rally events, Drift events etcetera. Anyway, you've fantastically shown us the ropes at Heveningham. I'm sure the event management are as appreciative as I for your work here! Ciao!

I live not far from this venue and had the misfortune to encounter some of these 'super car' drivers on the Friday. There were temporary traffic lights placed on a country road near Occold as a result of road works and I had to stop for a red light. Three Ferraris following me at that moment decided that this interruption to their joy ride was was unacceptable and they blasted past me and into the path of oncoming traffic. It was a miracle that there wasn't a serious accident. Having shared my experience with other local people, they described having witnessed similar dangerous driving. If you own this type of vehicle then by all means have fun with it, but please do this at a track day venue, not on the public highway!

Actually Harry, Mansell was driving for Williams in 1988. The Mansell car looks like the original 640 (or 639 race prototype) -without the later roll-hoop airbox), which Mansell won with on his debut in his 1st race for the Scuderia @ Brasil, (Not sure if it was the actual car you have there?) and the car also competed in that form for the next two races (San Marino & Monaco) Changing to the new taller roll-hoop airbox like the Berger car you showed for Mexico onwards, as the team needed a bit more pressure in the engine intake. 👍🏻 Great vid Harry, fascinating stuff!

Great event for the absurdly rich. Reminds me of the old advert, I loved it so much I bought the company. The two Ferrari Formula 1 from the 80's I would have watched at several Gp's around the world that year. They are not my favourite era though. Having started watching in the 60's, I started going to the track in the 70's. The big wheel, big wing flaming turbo era was my favourite. And the JPS Lotus was the ultimate. Watching drivers like Mario Andretti, Ronnie Peterson, Emerson Fittipaldi, Jacky Ickx who was so good at Le Mans. Great era of racing. Wouldn't really bother to walk to the bottom of my garden to watch the current crop.
@johntechwriterАй бұрын
We must be around the same age and yes, in the 60s, racing had retained a vestige of its honor as a blood sport engaged in by gentlemen. For one F1 competitor in that time to intentionally run another off the track and into a crash would have resulted in that guy becoming an outcast. (Or am I just naïve?) That era, the 1960s, was also a golden age of the sports car, which due to their appeal to middle class young guys were mass produced and affordable. So why does a clean TR6 appeal to me more than a monstrous 600 hp exotic whose driver is literall😂y looking out of a cave? Maybe because I like to drive, while others prefer to pose at the hot car hangout. Oh, well. To each his own. Cheers!
