Oh man, I write supernatural horror fiction, and I have a Jehovah's Witness in my extended family, whom my mother communicates with via letters. Mum told JW Relative that I'd gotten some of my fiction published. JW Relative then wrote back on a tear, accusing me of "engaging in spiritism". I'm not sure she understands how writing horror fiction works. Granted, yes, there are scenes in some of my works where Occult Groups Perform Scary Rituals to Summon Cthulhu or Something, but any ritual lingo is Something I Made Up. I might write those rituals as promising the person who enacts it a very tempting thing, but, *BUT*, I always frame said tempting thing as A Thing With Not Good Consequences. Thanks for addressing this tetchy issue in such a patient and open-hearted way, Jimmy.

Love the answer to the horror question! In addition to being a Catholic I'm a lifelong fan of monster and horror movies/books/games so I really appreciated that answer you gave. What you said definitely resonated with me. I'm actually writing a horror novel series inspired by Bram Stoker and Stephen King, I'll be asking you a weird question related to it at some point soon!

Let us even examine the case of The exorcist written by a Catholic named William Peter blatty. That book and film presents some very horrific sights and sounds but the pixel of these things as evil. Interestingly enough it is one of the few pieces of entertainment in the popular culture that depict the priests as heroic and virtuous. This is a pro Catholic story.

Fun fact, when asked about an absurd rumour about owning over 2000 books on the occult, Sir Christopher Lee not only dismissed the claim, but also warned about the spiritual dangers of real occultism, and it seems he did issue that warning more than once. Also there is an interesting argument by Dr. marshall (yes, I know) has a video signing that Dtavula is a Catholic book.

The theory of literature that Jimmy presents here is fascinating! Any more resources on that?

The most brilliant among Luther's adversaries was, most likely, Desiderius Erasmus, they engaged on a three volume debate on Free Will, which Luther recognised in his response was the core of his reform. Other than De Libero Arbotrio and the Shield of defence, the last works by Erasmus were centered on answering the protestatns and some would say, putting down the fire he himself had started.

Bram Stoker clearly took inspiration from the Bible for Dracula. the character Renfield is obviously fashioned after John the Baptist. Renfield eats insects and is preparing the way for his master, Dracula. then there's "The blood is the life" and many other elements in the story that are Biblically inspired. the concept of Dracula himself is like the corrupted version, or even antithesis, of our Lord and Saviour. Jesus asks us to drink His blood to have eternal life. Dracula drinks people's blood to give himself and his victims eternal damnation, to forever suffer a life of darkness and corruption.

It was precisely amon G my top favorite Classic books! There is a scene when Prof. Van Helsing said that The vampire greatest power It's its unbeliability to The rest of mortal men...seems to me the close deppiction of Satan. And That's how he easily can prey on mankind

That somebody took inspiration from the Bible does not mean it's a good text.

@@papuciowy1465not necessarily but is Dracula depicted as evil and bad? Yes he is. Do the symbols the sacraments and the sacramentals of the church have power over Dracula in the books and films? Yes. These stories are not pro-Dracula or pro-demon. Quite the opposite actually. Beyond that, our own Vatican has collected art and different works that not only depict pagan deities at times but we also have works and art that depict demons and the devil. Are the images themselves bad because they are fully depict demons? The Vatican owning a statue of a pagan God necessarily means that they worship the pagan god? Certainly not. So there was a lot of nuance to be had here.

GOT MY LIFE BACK “I got sent away so a lesson could be taught It flashed past that quickly I never gave it a thought At my surrounding my somewhat confined space Thank God for my Angels from Outer Space I was blessed with showers from up above The feeling was wondrous and filled with Love As they splashed on my face and all over my head Stephen King came to mind his books I read A writer a writer who knows what I will be But I’ll be working with Jesus through God you’ll see As promises go the Angels are bang on the nail It don’t cost me nothing and I’ll stay off the ale Always believe in miracles and gifts from afar Cos as night follows day always wish upon a star Count your many blessings close your eyes and wish Infinity and beyond you’ll go past the satellite dish.”

I have a weird question. I don't know where to submit. If someone rises from the dead. Do their sacraments have to be redone?
@reginaldwooster23519 сағат бұрын
Baptism and confirmation leave a permanent mark on the soul, so they wouldn't have to be redone. I think it's the same for Holy Orders. Reconciliation, Communion, and Anointing of the sick can already be received multiple times. But it's a very interesting question when you consider matrimony, because the vows explicitly state "till death do us part". So if someone dies and gets resurrected he might be released from the marriage vows and would have to re-marry.
