I don't buy the high mileage narrative about Max. His chin still looked great in this fight. Took a lot of shots in R1 and R2, wasn't fazed at all. But that right straight and left hook in R3, if it was anyone else it would be lights out. The fact that Max was still standing after the right straight and was still conscious after the left hook shows how great his chin indeed is.

I agree sort of... But go rewatch the second round... Ilia landed a hard hard left hook and max's legs went all over the place. Ilia's knockouts don't just come from power.. They are perfectly placed, with great technique and he has no telegraphing... Blackie dressed up as the joker over here has zero chance. When I say zero chance, I'm not talking about aljo getting a fluke win... I'm saying zero chance as in Ilia beats aljo 10/10 times and he wouldn't even have to train hahah

Aljo and Movsvar present different problems for Ilia, because of their wrestling heavy approach. Obviously Ilia is an elite grappler himself, but he hasn't really shown that in his last few fights. We are in for a treat if those fights are to happen.

I agree. I feel the mileage narrative, as well as the weight cut narrative are mainly coping. I would argue Max looks at his best to me. His performance v Gaethje was epic, and he was doing amazing w Ilia for a lot of the fight imo.
