@Namita, NASA scientists have limited budget too, it's just that their country has higher GDP than ours, so, even of both countries desire to spend the same percentage of money in space of their GDP, USA's will be much higher. And please don't discredit that their scientists would resign. They to work for the love of exploration and not money. NASA has achieved some real good feats, that we, at the moment can only imagine. It's not good to compare both.

Feels proud.. I know first hand how hard they worked to achieve what they are .. My dad was a former scientist in ISRO he was in the Ground Check Out unit, They give the final approval that the satallite is ready for launch. I remember countless months when I hardly got to even speak to him or see him at home.. He came at 10 in the night left again after 2 hours of sleep again by 1 am in the night before the launch the final year is very stressful.

Hi Jaby, thank you for sharing such an inspiring story. Well, I was a 20+ year old guy who visited Trivandrum at the time those ISRO guys were transporting the rocket parts to the launch area. Although I did not myself witness the transportation but the newspapers reported the incident next morning. I clearly reemember, the whole national media as well as the political opposition were laughing at ISRO. And that laughter grew louder when that unfortunate rocket rose and very gently fell into the ocean. But ISRO never gave up, and look what they have achieved.

@@akashmehta1637 I have searched on the official website and found out that ISRO had a fully air conditond transportation lory, but the lory was reflected sunlight and interfering with the satellites in the orbit. So we came up with the idea of using cycles that don't reflected that much light and also bullockcarts that are made out of wood. It was a genius idea indeed (Also sorry for the misinformation that it was for security reasons. It wasn't)

The reason ISRO is so special and extreme pride is because ISRO was denied any help by all advanced countries when developing the rocket engines and rockets themselves ( Russia especially ). ISRO built everything from ground up! @jabykoay

K 2 Firstly, the first generation of political leaders for a newly independent country has to obviously do work. It is ridiculous to give credit to Nehru for all these things. Anyone in that position would have done atleast that much otherwise what is the point of holding such high position. @Jaby Koay, what he meant by ISRO not having the same ambitions as others was with regard to the kind of missions. For example, NASA have long been interested in and running space exploration missions like Voyager 1 and 2, for example, both of which have now left our solar system, which is an incredible achievement OR setting up the space station and conducting spacewalks for astronauts so on and so forth. He meant to say ISRO has not disillusioned itself to set such ambitions because that requires a different approach and it needs much bigger budget that ISRO has ever had. Instead ISRO has concentrated on addressing the immediate needs of the country, be it satellite communication, meteorological data etc etc and now in the last decade or so they have progressed to conducting scientific experiments and gathering data with Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan.
