This is so accurate! I travelled in India when I was 19 with friends and 25 alone and always felt safe. People stare because you look curious and more often than not, go out their way to make sure you’re safe. Of all the countries I’ve been to, it’s the one I know I will always go back to for that “peace within the chaos” 🙏

In india there have so many poor people every one is too poor including me. super dirty. everywhere cow. roads r too small. nasty smal. and maximum Indian r doesn't like foreigners. so hard to find cab ola Uber. really hard to communicate with local. If you ask for help they React like get out from here what the fuck r u doing. it's too bad I'll not recommend you to come here. Trust me it's really unsafe for foreigners.

Second all foriengners are welcomed to india .. even my neighbours live in america mostly so whenever they come they tell me their stories about the greetings they have got and how they enjoyed their journey thoroughly. Third u can search on google there are more than 1k websites where a traveller could book a olla or cab no need to worry about it too. And we are trying are best to improve the hygiene ... and last . It's not safe for women to walk around at night in the United States, especially in the big cities. Like you said, if you dont do something at home, like walking around alone at night, dont do it in another country, always be very aware of your surroundings, and if you feel like aomething is off, then get out of there.

You can not put an envelope of culture around n prevent him from eating certain forbidden fruit , now a days children have access to everything even if u don't want . N these movies objectify women n d relationships even more, why they need to be so vulgar . Sorry I know I sound orthodox n I know this is their mentality , n movies n all can't just be blamed but it has undeniable impact .

It's so hard to imagine when people say India is like no other country. Like then I don't even know what to expect haha. But the media really is just a source of driving fear of the unknown that is really problematic. When I told my parents I was going to stay in Hungary they started talking about political unrest that I haven't heard of (because I don't watch much news) and that they felt uncomfortable with me living there... I was like really..?! I haven't even noticed a thing in 7 months of living here. If it's up to the media you would never leave your house. This is also one of the reasons why I don't watch the news like when I was young and starting to read the paper and like every single day X people got stabbed or robbed and X houses burned down. It would make me feel like my house could burn down any second and I would potentially be stabbed or robbed around every corner and that is no way to live.

When you said "Lets talk about stares", I heard in my mind "Lets talk about stairs" and I was so puzzled and my mind was racing with issues with stairs, with images of foreigners looking at stairs in India and not being able to figure them out and images of different types of stairs that could be possible in India, and then you said "you're gonna get stared at" and I felt so freaking stupid. India sounds amazing and I'm so happy its your favourite place now!! It was never the people I've been scared of, it's literally just the food/health/mosquito disease worries, but I'm the same in every country. Getting sick is my biggest fear and I heard India can be pretty risky. But Southeast Asia is the same....remember when I was too scared to use my hands/drink from the glass of water in that Dosa place in KL?? Yeah...think id survive in India? :L

I'm from a village in Bihar one of the most deprived state of India. I and my sister stayed away from my home in village for our studies and whenever we go their to meet my parents once or twice a year everyone stairs at us. We also felt uncomfortable but now realised that as our upbringing is different, we behave differently speak differently and even dress differently. Hence they are watching us in quoricity. I cannot give you a reasonable explanation for what happened, but I can tell you a fact that when it comes to rapes - then (statistically) India is much safer than many western countries including GBR as well as USA. Other than that, I'd like to say that uncertainties happen everywhere, even in the safest of places.. Only if I could do something for each and every woman who has faced discomfort in my country.. god knows I would. In India, as urbanization is taking place, there are always people who are new to the cities and importantly they may have never saw a foreigner in their life...so they stare at you...at tourist places they might want to take a picture with you like you are a celeb...Enjoy the attention!!! Another reason for staring is wearing too much revealing clothes...please avoid. It is not a common thing here. Saw many western women wearing revealing clothes but no one molested...but still.

You don't get stares in cities and urban area, it's just the rural areas because they don't see foreigners everyday

Do visit north-east India.. you'll experience a culture which is totally different from rest of India, as estimated 200 different tribes live in this part of India. (Spice free meal assured.. 😂😂)

The point is do not invite too many people to visit India! Still visitors have a good reputation but it will change because so many people go there without even knowing the local customs. And they don´t even care . In the whole you are right especially with: You hate India or you love it for the rest of your life.My love was not a love at first sight. When I was in India for the first time I hated it but just for 8 or 10 days. Then came up interest and when I came back to Germany I missed India...I can´t express how much I missed it! I left my heart in India and I came back 5 times to get it back. But it is still in India. After this Corona - bullshit I will go there again and I hope all my Indian friends stay well and healthy. And you stay healthy too. You are the right person to go to India. Whish there would be more travellers as you are! Namaste from Germany.
