I enjoy your views on what’s happening in Ireland,I left a small farm in the Midlands in 1969 , emigrated to Canada at 19 years of age.I’ve visited Ireland almost every year since I left, and witnessed the decline, especially since the phoney Celtic Tiger, which I feel destroyed the moral character of the country, and it’s been downhill since then. My family have all done well there, but I realized that trying to point out the great decline, they live in a bubble and the usual response is “ you don’t live here” I despair for Ireland’s future. Thanks for allowing my input, keep up the good work, go mile maith agat.

Your observations are spot on. What's particularly frustrating about this is that it was in the most part entirely preventable. I say that with the qualifier that some of it is due to Ireland bowing down to conditions from the IMF funding in the early part of the 2010s.

Frankly, in my 23 years of coming home to Ireland from the U.K. and visiting my family in Rural Ireland, my beloved homeland has indeed become a dystopian hellscape, right from the moment you arrive in Dublin, because most Irish people have allowed it to gradually happen by default and are in total denial of what has really gone on, they are choosing to remain asleep and this is especially true post-Covid - I’ve worked in supermarket retailing for 30 years in both the U.K. and Ireland and I live in a working-class area of Labour controlled Manchester and most people here are far more awake to what is really going on compared to most Irish people in Ireland - frankly, it’s going to have to get a lot worse before it gets better and I certainly don’t see us having any real peace and any real security, any real ownership of our country in my lifetime, this will be down to the actual babies of today and all future generations at least a century after we are all gone

Housing bodies manage properties that are bought in bulk by cuckoo fund mega landlords. I've seen it in my own apartment building, and when I looked online there was an actual portfolio of multiple properties which were advertised as many having existing long term tenants with short leases, some vacant apartments, but there were twenty or so of them up at a time, which are then bought as one to an overseas investor and rented out to these government housing bodies, who then call up the government and are allocated tenants, either immigrants, IPAS or council tenants. Many of these tenants are given 25 year leases, which these overseas landlords are guarnanteeed market rate rents for the 25 years where the government maintains and manages the properties using the tax money. Pretty good deal for these investors, they get all this cash, that pays for the properties times over and don't have to do jack to earn it. Not so good for the renters that when their lease is out they have to leave and then they are exposed to the rental market, which is a nightmare and many of these people won't find anything affordable to them.

Ireland is where the U.S. was in the 19th century where the newcomers were looked on with suspicion and expected to ruin everything. Of course the people who were worried and complained in the U.S. were not the natives but were settlers themselves. The U.S.. settled down and rallied around a flag which was all important and symbolic of nationhood, more so than flags in other countries as a rallying point, as Sinead O’Connor found out. In the U.S. no one got anything, other than what they worked for. Ireland should do the same, if you are willing to work and contribute stay, otherwise go elsewhere. What is described here, if the case, is crazy. Also the government should limit the property buyers, those who are stateless as they belong everywhere, but nowhere specific, because of wealth. They mess up places they alight on briefly for profit, to buy up property, or whatever. A government that is not responsive to its native citizens first and foremost should be voted out ASAP. The U.S. has a problem as well and does provide medical care to whoever shows up at a hospital as that is the humanitarian thing to do.

Another point life is what you make it. Look at what the ancestors went through they often did not have a choice to be dead or alive they ended up dead; untimely dead, while they would have preferred to live. Maybe what people need is some real hardship that is a good way of waking up rather than sleepwalking through life. The current generations everywhere need nothing more than a swift kick in the behind. Get over yourselves.

Re. that Cork business being accused of inciting hatred for naming and shaming the people who robbed them: that is just creating a protected class that learn that they can flout the rules that should apply to everyone equally because they know the law-abiding people who call out their wrong-doing are vilified, while they (the criminals) are defended That is naturally going to create resentment in the majority towards the minority: they were the actual victims of crime, but when they pointed this out they were treated like they are the guilty party, while the perpetrators are treated like the victims Love of your own 'in group' doesn't have to mean hatred of an 'out-group', but Irish people who identify with traditional Irish culture in Ireland are being portrayed as both morally inferior to (and yet privileged in comparison with) a non-traditional identity FG Cllr Punam Rane is more like the SPHE diverse 'Family B' than the pasty 'Family A', but her own unpopular views weren't taken as an indication that her entire 'community' needed "educating", the same narrative was applied when the so-called "lone wolf" attack on the Galway chaplain was not taken as any reflection on the wider religious minority community at all - a rule that is never applied when an Irish person holds racist views that are then used as evidence of 'inherent racism' in Irish society Ulster Protestant hatred of the majority religion of Irish people was so deeply ingrained that in 1944 the Northern Ireland home affairs secretary said he would have an Orange hall fumigated after it was used for a Catholic service by US army servicemen. Rev. Ian Paisley compared Catholics to "vermin", in the long line of Protestant firebrand preachers like Rev. Hugh Hanna, Rev. Thomas Drew, etc. But English nationalists are so invested in defending the 'good guy' narrative they were fed by their political elites that they will typically insist that the Irish were the 'bad guys' and the Ulster Protestant minority community were the innocent victims of the Irish being intolerant haters and "barbarous wretches" - as Cromwell labelled them to justify his slaughter of innocent Irish people

You are being far to general about people who were pretty well aware and informed 30 years ago. It sounds more like jealousy on your part and you assume these people are keyboard warriors, how do you know what they are up to? Being informed and compasionate is not enough one has to act. Humans can be strange for they will forgive you for being wrong, but they won't forgive you for being right!
@sb8163
@sb8163 2 сағат бұрын
@@KaiStewart-n7b there are always comments on these channels critical of the people who are posting the videos on the subject, as if it is pointless to bother because the commenters supposedly have been saying the same thing for decades You wrongly assume it's "jealousy" on my part! Of course there were people predicting problems with immigration in the UK far longer than 30 yrs ago, so these commenters are hardly "informed". Their comments are repetitive and tedious It was obvious after Brexit that Ireland would become a more attractive destination for asylum seekers. It was obvious that there was an open border with a non-EU country. When I found out that Roderic O'Gorman had tweeted in various languages re. own-door accommodation, I honestly thought it was a joke. It was inevitably going to end very badly in disaster and chaos When I was making comments on this on brexit channels I was called a 'racist'. Funny how there were no comments saying the same back then, but now they are popping up everywhere and apparently everybody had always been saying it, of course So I wouldn't assume they have done as much as the person whose videos they are criticising has done by making these videos - otherwise they would hardly be spending their time posting tired, boring, and trite comments online

Where are all these immigrants living? How are they being housed? In many instances, through housing agencies whose properties are not listed publicly. Separately, Landlords may choose to listen to their properties with a local agent rather than an internet site, to limit the amount of interest, and subsequent correspondence etc. Housing is a closed system in many ways. You can't buy in a city unless you have inherited wealth, and you can't rent unless it's from an agency or some other limited body.

Well first of all a lot of companies who are construction related are signed up to the weekly CIS reports ! this gives the Planning permissions for all the country ! it gives the type of planning sought by the developer and the contractor and the type of construction whether its commercial buildings domestic houses it gives the name of the Promotor and contractor and the stage that the planning is at ! so if you are one of these landlords putting in IPASS Centers that's where you can see what is being built in areas of the country ! Large developments will be seen by hedge funds as an investment opportunity and will approach the promoter of the project and offer to buy 50% of the development at least and on the strength of this the banks will give the finance to complete the project ! So what's going to happen to our young people ? Its not looking good for anybody !

State the facts but endlessly reiterating negativity isn't helpful. Negativity drains energy down into hopelessness. If you think of the past heroes of Ireland, how did they speak to the people? 'Oh, it's all hopeless and we're destined to be a servile people forever'. Really?? They spoke with fire in every breathe and lifted the people up to a vision that they all could be part of. They didn't give a fiddler's fart about the naysayers. Inspiration is the wind beneath our wings. Learn how to soar.
