Cold brew the coffee out of the growler in a separate container. Then put it in the growler and pressurize. You wouldn’t need those bags at that point.

You can always use a cold brew container that has a reusable filter basket. After 24 hours you can transfer it to the growler works. There are a ton of them on amazon.

Great video and very good detail. I would just brew the coffee outside of the device and add it once the brew is done. I currently make my cold brew using Bal 1/2 gal jars and filter bags from Amazon. Nice way to keep the process moving for those daily Nitros like me. 👍🏼

Cold Brew in another container then pour it in that way you don't have to use the compressor bags, and you can prove as much coffee as you want.

Nice Video. Thanks for the info. The only thin is that you mention CO2, but this is a nitro system. CO2 is for Beer or sodas, this should use N2 cartridges.

I heard a tip that you can keep the strings on the coffee filters outside the coffee maker so you can pull them back out easily. Making the coffee separately would be cheaper though.

I've been brewing cold brew with the Filtron set up for a couple decades now. The Nitro UKeg was the icing on the cake for me. I always have a carafe of cold brew concentrate in the fridge and now the UKeg is right there with it. I love this thing. At the end of summer I put it away thinking it would be next summer before I needed it again. That lasted about a week. I now have a nitro cold brew mid afternoon all year long. Yeah.😃

I had turned my old tiny pot still into a nitro coffee setup, it worked ok, I just hated taking it apart and cleaning it every time I wanted to make nitro cold brew.
@markalexander7744 жыл бұрын
You should only use food grade CO2 cartridges. Do not use the ones meant for like bike tires; there will be a noticeable taste.
@CarlMurawski4 жыл бұрын
Well these are nitro cartridges, the same that they use for whipped cream and the like but you're absolutely right.
@Eli-wv9bn4 жыл бұрын
Just a coffee hack, to avoid buying the Growler coffee bags. Perhaps you can make cold brew in a different cold brew maker, and then pour it in to your growler nitro cold brew maker, instead of pouring in the water and the coffee bags. If I could recommend try using the Filtron Cold Brew Coffee Maker. It makes some of the best cold brew you will ever have, and it’s very cheap to use, all you need to re-purchase from them is their filter, which is inexpensive and can last for a few months. I cannot guarantee you this hack will work, since I do not own a growler, and I’ve never tried it. However, I would love to know if it does work.

I have not found the No2 cartridges in that size other than through the original manufacturer. I liked it at first but am still struggling to get it dialed in.
@DHG10784 жыл бұрын
If you already have an existing cold brew coffee maker setup, you don't have to make the cold brew in the growlerworks. You can pour in your pre-made cold brew.

Nice and transparent review I'm a coffee addicted and most of the time enjoy the Bialetti 6 cups coffee maker, of course with fresh grain coarse. Try it and tell me if you like it. Here in America is common to mix too much water with coffee but in Europe the strongest concentrate coffee the better. Greeting Carl!

I know next to nothing about cold coffee but my girlfriend loves it, so I've got some questions. Will it keep it cold? That seems to hold quite a bit of coffee. Will it only start to warm up and flatten out after its poured?
@CarlMurawski4 жыл бұрын
It definitely keeps it cold for a while. The main container is insulated and does pretty well for a few hours. It really only flattens out after you pour it, while its inside it's being infused until you pour it.

For the up front cost and the cost of nitro cartridges makes it not cost effective. Bubbles vs no bubbles! I have no issue with standard cold brew coffee and I can control the coffee itself with glass containers. This is best guess and I brew mine to the color I know will be delicious.
