This press has worked like a charm for my projects kzbin.infoUgkxajoEbapTfqWaadnqb04h6U576yxXp-FE . I didn't even secure it to my table top, mainly due to the fact that I was using a 15 lbs drill vise. It's not flimsy at all as to what others have claimed it to be. Make sure the locking nuts and levers are secured and there won't be any issues with light pressure and patience. I was able to drill through aluminum, plastic, and steel (steel took a while) with no problems at all. Yeah it took a little longer than a regular drill press, but I don't have the space OR the money for one.The instruction manual was worthless, but luckily assembling the press was intuitive. However, the manual would be good for ordering replacement parts if needed. There is a nice breakdown of the parts that are included in the kit. Before ordering, make sure it is compatible with your unit, it is clearly stated what models the press is compatible with. This was an excellent purchase for $40!!

I am a crafter and this would be great for drilling small holes into the wood earrings I make for the hardware. It’s not for everyone and that’s fine. It’s the perfect size for my office and small vacuum I have. Will buy a small cart on wheels for it to be mounted onto a piece of wood with the drill battery and such on the shelves below. My next buy for sure!!

The hook on the the top is used to hang the rotory tool when using it with a flex shaft, cause without hanging the tool the tool won't stay put.

Those flex shafts are meant for doing precision work by hand. The first time I saw one was in the 7th grade. Some students were working with the flex shaft to carve objects inside acrylic blocks like roses, Moses, bust of Jesus, all kinds of stuff. Then they had to paint them, and fill the hole in with more acrylic.

To determine if your collet is perpendicular to the table place a straight rod in the collet and check it with a square, or a 123 block, or some such. Or Put a straight z shaped wire in the collet and turn the collet. If it doesn't touch on one side adjust the angle. Or build an angle gage with a dial indicator like Mr Pete ( Tubal Cain ) did and tram it in very precisely.

for the dremel, try hanging the motor from the extended support hook, this allows the 'handpiece' accessory which by the way has the same thread & protector on it, to fit in the bottom threaded part easily, giving the flexability to use as a drill press, mill, etc.

The hanger on the extension pole is there to use to hang your rotary tool if you would like to use a separate hand-piece - Attached by a flex shaft. The flex shaft is attached to the ryobi and the main power unit hangs up there. I noticed you sort of fumbled on the assembly of this to the base as well. From those 2 things I want to ask if you read the assembly instructions. For some people it may looked like something was manufactured poorly. But it was clear that you didn’t know what you were doing. I thought I appreciated your videos but now I gotta say, If you want people to be educated about a product because you’re making that kind of overview video, please read the assembly instructions. Also, you guessed aloud about what the function of the tool was, and guessed wrong. That was unprofessional. Maybe say, “I’m guessing here”. And, yes, you were wrong. You look at a lot of different tools. Is that a lot to know? Is that an overly high expectation? No. Truthfully, this tool and many that you’re presenting are a unique tool, with no pre knowledge of that tool really being possible to have. Because nothing exactly like this version of the tool has been created before. Obviously the viewer wants accurate info. Read the manual. Read the assembly instructions. Now I’m rethinking other videos you’ve made thinking, is this tool kind of a fail? ..Or is it you just didn’t read how to use it? This one: you didn’t read how to use it, and you didn’t read how it’s put together. Kinda came off as a hack. Sorry man.

…also the plastic ring that you took off to mount the Dremel brand tool is NOT used to change your bits. As you said it was. Not at all. You forgot that 5 minutes earlier you did that exact same change out with the ryobi version. Also, you say that “there’s no way to know if your bit is drilling 90° perpendicular to the base”……what about using what we use for any drill press tool? A small machinist square placed to the bit and base. And so, if you are pre - indenting / marking the material that you’ll drill with and awl, I assume that there will be zero movement on the ryobi tool when it drills. Providing that, like any drill press use - you’re not pulling down the lever stupid fast and instead you’re feeding the bit into the material and letting the bit cut it’s way in. ….like you do when using any drill press tool. Clearly this is not a 100lb drill press. But it’s obviously not even suggesting it’s in that market. It’s small, light weight, awesome vacuum attach feature….It has a completely different user type and purpose. Just so many miss - statements here.

No, the cord holder is not just for electrical cords, other 'rotary' tools, called handpieces, used by jewelers, power carvers, etc. have these, and they don't have the motor on them, they have a separate motor, with a flex shaft which drives the chuck at the handpiece end, and they too don't like tight radius in the cable, so this helps keep the driveshaft steady.

Too bad they didn't just come with an adapter for the pro tool that you have. I'm sure you can probably find one to make it work. Also does the wobble affect the quality of drilling or bevels, or other uses? It would be nice if there was some sort of clamping mechanism to hold the rotary tool in place from a 2nd location.

I think I'm going to look into that, if it has a metal base I might get one for my Non-Dremel Roto Tool from HF. I know, I'ld rather have a Dremel, but long story. Actually I'ld rather have a 2.0 Amp Dremel 400 XPR, but they quit making them because no one ever read the manual and they burned them up. Uh, don't ask me how I know. Ok, I self warranted the tool. I had to get the job done.

All rotary tools should fit cause all are knock offs of the Dremel Moto Tool. Any which don't fit are trying not to be a knock off even though they are. So if you should ever have one that doesn't fit just consider it as an extra tool to help cut down on bit changes.

It has the same problems as the 20 year old Dremel single pole stand as a drill press. Its bloody useless. It wobbles all round creation. And the Dremel one was all metal. Also it would have been a little better if you had at least glanced through the instructions. But then instructions have no bearing on reality do they. You may have found with reading that the hand tools on the extensions do not fit the press. They are for freehand work.

Wow what a lame accessory , I can't believe how cheesy it looks on camera . From the demonstration it appears, column not stiff enough for driling, wabbels all over the place - whole base too light to stay in place on work surface - the rotary adjustment off 90 degrees seems almost useless , cumbersome to adjust. A person contemplating a perchase of this accessory at $99.99 would be better off buying a table top drillpress which Ryobi also makes.
