Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa; the sequel to Madagascar that continued the exiled journey of our crew as they try to get back to New York, but barely make it half way and instead crash land in Africa where they end up having several types of issues. This is probably my most nostalgic movie and game, but now that I have the previous game's knowledge under my belt, it's time to see if the sequel did better than before. Also, I've turned 20 today.

As a kid with few other video games as a point of reference, I thought the difficulty of 100%-ing this was perfectly normal lmao I remember minigolf and the mere existence of overworld exploration fondly. Madagascar 2 may not have been Sly Cooper, Jak or etc. but it was quite nice in its own regard as a childhood game to remember

Actually, you can complete the story without playing Water Caves, Wooing Gloria and Volcano Rave. (and Mort Adventure). Just collect 60 monkeys and go to Fix the Plane, so you unlock Dam Busters. It just was so funny to see in the Ending Cutscene Gloria say Melman is the best for her, and then go to Water Caves flirting with Moto Moto.

Actually Alex never got banished in this game, he didn’t have a good catchphrase so they made him wear the hat of shame, but it’s even said in game that he can come back whenever he feels like, and that he passed the test.

You got to love how a video about Madagascar 2 The Game starts and ends with dark depressing story about an alternate version of yourself getting night terrors after loosing his hand to KZbin. Kuddos for creativity, there.

One of my childhood games that I played through so many times. I think it's actually pretty good for a licensed game. Of course it has weaknesses, but they aren't that big. What I think is really cool is that it has such good replay value. It's short, quite simple and, above all, you have a bit of freedom of choice. You can choose when to play the Penguin Story, Aleks and Gloria/Melman's Story, Morts and the Junkyard missions, or explore the areas for coins and monkeys. This always offers variety (even if it would have been so much better if the monkeys had simply been made available straight away and not tied to the penguin level). The fact that Marty is so irrelevant is really the biggest criticism. I always thought that there were Alek's rings and Gloria's pepperoni missions, then Marty could also have a race that he could do in some areas (The Waterhole, Rituals). And because every character has their own story (Aleks in the rituals, Gloria/Melman in the volcano dance and did Moto-Moto levels) and Marty only has this minigame, he should have had one too. E.g. that he has to go up the river to check on the dam before the last level comes. I also like that the beginning and end stand out from the main part because you switch between characters and work together or do various short tasks. The game is definitely not perfect, but it is a good licensed game.

13:25 The penguin level is probably the best level in the game and in the wii version I love how they use the Wiimote's pointing function for the part you have to shoot the guards with candy and soda cans.

I remember playing this game as a child,aaah the memories. I would recommend a review on The Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage,Coraline [the video game],nightmare before christmas:oogie's revenge and monster vs aliens (the video game.) Also maybe do a top 10 characters you want to see in kingdom hearts 4. And I wish you a nice happy birthday.

Another bad thing the game is that they switch around Makunga and Moto Moto’s motality , Makunga in the film was a scheming slimy lion using Alex to gain control, in the game he is still a jerk but there nothing to suggest hes a bad guy and doesn’t gain control , Moto Moto in the film was shallow only liking Gloria for her huge body but wasn’t any more bad than that and did try to help the other animals find water , in the game he’s more of a manipulative player and a lot more violent

That's pretty true actually. Personally, I don't mind the Moto Moto thing, but Makunga being less of a villain than Moto Moto in this game is odd to me. Also, Moto Moto running over Julien is hilarious to me.

It's incredible that you didn't talk about the fact that also for this game 100% is a pain. In the level where you need to repair the plane, you need to throw Mort at some targets, if you throw him perfectly at the center then you will get a coin otherwise you need to restart the whole level if you want the coins.

To avoid replaying the whole level, you can exit to the map or story before you hit the 6th target. This restarts the minigame, but you'll keep any coins you earned.
