lolol Dead on with the dress... I'm learning a lot about this with my 2 year girlfriend lol I've learned to compliment thing that I DO like about the dress and then recommend stuff that I know she already likes... like I'll say "I love the flowers on that dress! How about that blue dress that you just brought, you said you couldn't wait to where that one! But regardless, you're beautiful in everything that you wear!" That's the golden ticket, and its not slick, its true.... I learned how to simply tell the truth and keep my selfishness out of the picture

Lying is ok when you have no malicious intent. It's ok if it's to help someone where nobody will be shortchanged or taken advantage of.

Think it boils down to the greatest commandment: Love you God with all your heart, soul, mind and love others like yourself. In this case with Rahab, she was indeed loving God and her neighbour. She had faith in God to risk her life, and God cherished that. If one lies for ones own benefits and to do things their way (which is essence of sin), then that's wrong.

If you are unwilling to lie in order to save someone from being unjustly murdered, you are legalistic, self-righteous, and behaving ungodly. Rahab, for her lie, was blessed with her life, the right to live with the Israelites, and the honor of Jesus in her genealogy. As a female and prostitute! Because God looks beyond the immaturity of simply following rules, he saw what she was doing was good, not evil. The bible is filled with examples of using worldly methods in a justified, godly manner. E.g., the lawful killing of one (wicked) tribe after another. NOT killing was sin and punished by God! Using lies in these rare cases is not to cause discord, attain power or benefit, or evade rightful consequences/punishment. It is a way to push against evil. It's wrong to betray someone so you can be sanctimonious. The only exception is for the new Christian or young child.

Many Christians have adapted this weak willed pacifist mentality and it is really disgusting. God does expect his believers to be persecuted but no where in the Bible does it say that we have to be tolerant and engage in self-flagellation. It produces weak, cowardly men that lack righteousness and makes it easy for the wicked to prey on their family and friends. Lying and violence should only be a tool of self-defense when someone is posing harm to us.

i can agree , i am never okay with lying but i have done nothing wrong but some people just try to harm me and i have to lie to them only about one topic to save my life and health , im not proud of it at all but after saying the truth and try to be righteous was punished every time and lost years out of my life,i finally came to a place where i just know in my life none is gonna save me or my lineage i have to use the strength God gives me and protect myself and keep myself alive .This experience have made me feel so humbled too and able to relate to many people who go through tough times and made me less judgemental of others and less reliant on my own self in the big run too even if i have to for a time lie to certain individuals that abuse and try to cut m life short for their own pride and money and just to keep the evil system going

This is a great discussion and I love how you handled this complex issue. My girlfriend and I had the exact same discussion. And I said straight up that lying is always wrong because God is not a liar, and we are his children and we have to represent him.... But yea, I agree, God is also understanding and mercifull and he understands how difficult being perfect is lolol its impossible.... Look at Jesus, if only he told a little white lie, he could have avoided pain and death, all he had to tell pilot was "nope, I'm not who they say I say I am" and he'd be off the hook. But Christ showed perfect morality, and he knew his perfect morality would lead him to death.... As a follower of Christ, I want to have such firm faith so that the world will think I'm crazy for being so honest... that's what I want. That's ground shaking faith. Because when you lie to protect yourself or someone else, you are saying "I don't trust God can protect me, so i'm going to use another device to get out of this" and I don't ever want to say that. Its a simblinal rejection of God. Its just like what Peter did when they asked if he knew Jesus. He was trying to save his own skin, and in the process he rejected his Lord and Savior... Think of every question as "Is Jesus your Lord?" If you do that, I think you will approach your answers in a whole new way...... Also I hope you apply this same measure to whether or not war and murder is ever ok..... I am saying that murder is NEVER ok, especially in war.... Jesus said "love your enemies" all of the old testament wars were conditional wars given to one group of people in one time period.... but the most recently commandment God gave us is to love our enemies, and I cant kill an enemy and love them at the same time... if you can do that, explain to me how, and then we can compromise, but if not, I can never reconcile war or murder... especially in a world where every beating heart still has a chance to receive the gospel and accept Christ.... Like lying, when we kill a "bad" person, we are in effect saying "God I don't trust that you can save this person, so i'm just gonna send them to hell in advance" and that's anti-biblical

Hey Leon I love your response on this and that mind set and desire to live as Jesus did is absolutely amazing! Now to come to one of your points as far as killing goes Thou shall not kill as you may know is that the kill portion is supposed to mean murder which is to kill out of a selfish based or personal motive. Now I want to put you into a position where you have a gun and there is a person who breaks into your house with a gun with intent to murder your family. Would you not shoot to kill him? (I know shooting to subdue would be the intent but for this position lets say if you pull that trigger the bullet is going into his heart and killing him) I would say it is possible to kill someone you love to protect those you love take the question and insert a loved one as the one that broke in with intent to kill your family... Now with War we have a lot of biblical war where God sent the Isrealites into the promise land where they waged war against other to take their land and God was the one that sent them... How would you respond to that? Do you believe that God was wrong in that? Also I see that you said "Jesus said "love your enemies" all of the old testament wars were conditional wars given to one group of people in one time period.... but the most recently commandment God gave us is to love our enemies." Would you agree by saying the old testament God changed his mind on war in the new testament? Would that in a sense be calling God a liar? (no condemnation here brother just trying to put things into perspective) Malachi 3:6 says “I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed." Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through? Murder is never okay, But as Christians imagine if we never joined into the war against Germany in WW2 or if we removed all military personal from duty and gave up all our warfare capabilities and turned in all our weapons... We would be taken over in a matter of days and slaughtered like pigs in a slaughter house... Killing in self-defense and even in the bible where they stoned people to death for their sins was justified even... Sometimes you had to kill ones you loved. Jesus calls us to "Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” I believe he is talking about loving everyone unconditionally regardless of the wrongs that they do to you and sacrifice for the people of this world as he has sacrificed for us. Now would you say it would be loving to let your family die at the hands of a murder even if that murder was one you loved? I wouldn't be able to personally and maybe your opinion is different on the matter and I respect that I wouldn't even say it would be a sin to not shoot the murder. Let's look at a bit more scripture on this though Psalm 82:4 Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. Now with this we can take it how we want to me this is enough to allow me to defend my family and kill the murder regardless if I love him... Maybe that doesn't say the same to you but more so points you towards this next verse Ezekiel 33:6 6 But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone’s life, that person’s life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their blood.’ In this case Psalms 82:4 maybe telling you that you need to deliver them by following Ezekiel 33:6 and giving your family a warning such as "Everyone go out the back door!" While you stay back and try the subdue the attacker without lethal force and possibly dying as a martyr for your family. I suppose conclusion it's all a matter of perspective and doing what you believe to be best. I don't see it as wrong to kill to protect those you love or even your own country for that matter, nor would I say it's wrong to find other alternatives to avoid having to kill someone. I would however like to tell you I would agree that avoiding having to kill anyone at all would be best but in some cases where a life of an innocent person or people is threatened I would say it is 100% justified. Hope this all helped a bit in understanding somethings and maybe even opened your eyes to another perspective, also I stand by the millions of people who gave their lives for our country let their sacrifices not be in vain. God bless and Peace be with you Brother.

Lying is not always wrong and God does not hate all liars. If God hated all liars then God would hate everyone. --- A man shows up at your door with a gun and asks where your 15-year-old daughter is. He says he is going to rape and murder her. Your daughter is in her bedroom. You will lie to protect her and it would be a sin not to lie and protect her. If you tell the man that she is in her bedroom because of your belief that you cannot lie then you are the same as a murderer. This is the reason that "thou shalt not lie" is not one of the 10 commandments. Christians need to stop saying that it is one of the 10 commandments because that is a lie and that makes them lying hypocrites.

With all due respect: The wife is asking about her dress. Yes honey, dress looks great! Its not complicated. Whether or not the dress looks great, there is peace. Rahab was venerated - Hebrews 11:31 & James 2:25 New Testament; and, she is in the Lineage of GOD. How much venerable can you get?? Sometimes you have to lie for the greater good outside yourself, as shown by examples in the Bible; not lying for selfish gain - cause then you are a liar by trade.

I think the issue is referring to outlier or extremely rare situations. There are all kinds of immoral things we can debate whether they would be right or wrong in extreme circumstances, but 99.999% of the time we are not operating under extreme circumstances. Most people who lie are not lying to save lives, so lying is generally wrong. If there is an exception to the rule in God's eyes, then that doesn't negate the rule. An exception to a rule shows the rule exists. If God sees lying to save lives as right, then that would be one of very few circumstances where he is OK with it. That would be God judging the heart and intention, rather than act itself. Virtually all lies are not being told with good intentions. It's like a pro choicer trying to jusify abortion by arguing what if the woman was raped. One can debate that, but 99.999% of women are not terminating their babies because they were raped. Usually the objection is trying to justify abortion by referring to outlier or rare cases. Even if it were right in those rare cases, it would still be wrong in all the other majority cases.

Hey please help me find the answer to my problem. Im the only christian am 16 and still living at home, because i was sharing my faith to get unbelievers saved through god, my parents wich are very strict and just want to live their life like they want forbade me to do that and forced me to delete the channel. They went as far as forbidding me to listen to christian music and watch anything related on religion. Now i felt the urge to praise god and thats where i lied to them. I also am watching videos because he said to remain in the spirirt and to also worship and praise his name. Am i guilty of lying? Im really not happy living here and by the way im from germany.

Just like if we go and get him some shoes...he will ask 'do they make my feet look too big?' Arcane Artie thank you and yes theres a lot of love shown betwen us so maybe I dont feel insecure to ask if I look ok with a hidden agenda of insecurity? I understand they are trying to be informative. I was watching this video because a new christian asked me 'if I lie do I go to hell even tho Im a christian?'. I explained about repentance, avoiding sin with all your strength, confessing and asking for forgiveness if we accidentally do etc but she is really confused about the bible saying Jesus came to pay the price but then she reads elsewhere that liars wont go to heaven (we are talking embellishing when recounting a tale, adding her opinion when it didnt happen at the time etc). Im just trying to make sure Im helping her. Im encouraging her to join a church but she hasnt found one yet so Im standing in as a sister for her x
@ArcaneArtz
@ArcaneArtz 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your reply! I would agree sometimes we ask if we look good in something because we genuinely want to know if we can rock it or if its out of our style! I think some of the insecurities can just stem from old age and so as we get older and lose our youth we want to know our spouse still thinks we're beautiful and attractive, but maybe that's a different discussion for another time. I actually wanted to maybe chime in a bit with some things regarding our newly saved sister! First thank you so much for being a blessing for her and taking her under your wing to guide her to truth on the gospel and helping her understand God better. In regards to her question of 'if I lie do I go to hell even tho Im a christian?'. I'm glad you went over repentance and avoiding sin and seeking forgiveness, but also remind her that once she accepts/accepted and professes/professed with her mouth and believes in her heart that Jesus is Lord and that God raised him from the dead and that it is through grace alone that she is saved and not through works (Ephesians 2:8, Romans 10:9) That she cannot and will not ever lose her salvation I believe that it is very important for her to know that she is forever saved and won't lose her salvation. Now having said that also let her know that it isn't a ticket to sin freely she should always seek to know God and steer away from sin. Also maybe was this what she had read that made her question or be a little confused on why she wouldn't possibly go to heaven? 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. If so then let her mind be at ease because if we keep following to verse 11 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Just so she knows it's all been paid for and she should have clear conscience on it. Yes I would agree finding a church will do wonders in her development I'd suggest maybe even inviting her to yours (if she lives reasonably close to you) If not maybe you can research a few churches in her area and look into them for her so she will have a loving and encouraging church to attend. Until she is able to find one I'd suggest 2 things, 1. Read all of the book of John. It will give her a base foundation of who Jesus was and why he died on the cross and how it came about. (I'd recommend if she doesn't finish it before finding a church to attend to keep reading it.) 2. In the time being she can always tune in to Watermark's Live stream on Sundays 9 am CDT (tomorrow if possible) at live.watermark.org/ this is the church that the Senior pastor in the video is a part of and the church I actually attend and I'm sure she will enjoy it. Finally they do have some real truths real quick on if you can lose your salvation and how do i know if I'm saved so I would encourage her to check those out if she is still worried. Ahhh I'm so happy and excited! Let us rejoice for another one of God's children have come home! Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help! God Bless you both and peace be with you!

Back in the days of Rahab, it wouldn't be realistic to believe that she wouldn't be willing to tell a lie. It's not like she was serving God at that time. She wasn't living a pure life. Just like many of us.. before we knew God, we were all right with lying. God understands what Rahab was doing and He had a plan for her. Every single person God used had sinned. And It seems that he allows people to protect innocent human lives at whatever probable cost. Jesus said it is good to do what is right on the Sabbath. If it is good to do right on God's Holy Day, I imagine, it's good to do what is right any day of the week. and it is good to save a life. The devil would want the opposite of saving a life.

The point is we must live in obedience and obey God even unto the point of death that is we must come to the understanding that we would rather die than to sin... this point is made because Jesus said I am the truth and Satan is a liar therefore truth cannot exist in a world in whom the "God of this world" controls the agenda that is based on a lie falsehood and deceit... if you look in the Book of Genesis you are come to the understanding that the "God of this world",the devil, gain control of the world by lying.

If you lie for your own gain it is against God. If you lie to hurt someone it is against God but if you lie to save someone's life that is love because you are saving someone just like Rehab did. Even in the 10 commandments God says do not bare false witness AGAINST thy neighbor. Well you are not doing anything against or to harm your neighbor if you lie to save them. To love your neighbor is more important.

@Tableú so all the people that were saved from murder in the holocaust by people hiding them and lying to the soldiers were wrong in doing so? To me it comes back to how would you want to be treated by others is how you should treat others. Wouldn't you want someone to be kind to you like that and hide you from being murdered?

Isn't the God of this world the devil? So men who worship worldly things are not of God, and do not deserve truth. They deserve God's deception. Though a child's of the one true. Not of this world?
