Is it FUN? First Try of FPV Head Tracking | DJI Neo + Goggles N3 + Motion Control

Here's my second EVER flight with the DJI Neo in FPV! This time I tried Head Tracking, which was really interesting! Also lots of Sports mode flying, finding lots of small gaps to fit through with the drone. All in all, a great flight!

I don't have any great words of wisdom for you because I'm just getting started with drone flying, but I gotta say how much fun it is. You really do feel like a bird 🐦 to some extent but even better is the sense of freedom you feel while you're in the air. You really need to buy one for yourself, trust the technology you just paid a fortune for and get out there and enjoy the heck out of it 💰🚁💯😎

So much fun to fly! I also got the FPV controller 3 and fly in manual. Trying to document my journey which is really really fun! I'll be following your journey also, if you take me along! Would be amazing to see many more fpv enthusiasts, together with others is so much more fun! Also in The Netherlands we have a rule that you need a spotter when flying fpv. One thing I think FPV can be is a bit daunting and elitist - a lot of the channels I've seen make it feel incredibly inaccessible, so I'm hoping that I can show there's a route into having fun with it for almost anyone (even idiots like me!)

@ZenBein I find the DJI Neo a absolute amazing entry drone to try FPV. I've done some whooping and actual building of drones in the past, now with the Neo it's as easy as plug and play. Also with the Neo crashes are not the end! Amazing durability on the little drone. I'm a happy customer 😁

I love the Neo. Worth bearing in mind you can't currently fly FPV with the flip - though they might change that with a firmware update at some point.

I think to go full manual mode you will need goggles 3, and not goggles N3. Neo and RC controller will not work in Manual mode without the more expensive goggles. I think thats right away. Good flying though and you are having fun.

Just double checked and luckily the N3 goggles are compatible with the FPV 3 remote - made me worry for a minute!

You need a 60 to 65 watt charger for battries to get all charged at same time that is quick unlike using old cable plus charger and only 1 battery at a time charges up.

For me, head tracking is for walking around in cruise mode and enjoying the landscape, in FPV mode, head tracking doesn't give good images, you often have your head tilted, which results in boring images.

Amazing second flight👍 you are a natural !! Great flow to the video, kept me glues to the screen til the end. It's my birthday this weekend so going to treat myself to the FPV 3 Controller- have heard its rather difficult to master but going to give it my best shot. The battery charger allows you to charge all 3 together when plugged into the USB, it doesn't hold any charge itself. The other DHjI charging hubs allow you to use the drone batteries to charge something else in an emergency like you phone etc. Again thanks for sharing this video and looking forward to your next. Making me want to edit some of my footage and upload it to my channel.

Enjoying your content. I am a fixed wing flyer and a Mini 3 Pro flyer but have never flown FPV. Your sucess has me very interested in the Neo as it is reasonably priced. One question, are you able to use the goggles with your glasses? I wear vari focals and wondered if I would be able to focus on the screen. PS just a word of caution, swat up on the legal requirements for flying as you are posting on social media, you don't want a visit from PC Plod.

Great to hear! And yes, I also wear my glasses with the goggles and they fit fine. I don't think there's a lens / focusing mechanic on these, so without my glasses I can't see the screen as clearly.

They work fine with glasses. But don't pull your goggles down from your forehead (as you might swimming goggles) - it's safer to pull them UP, so your glasses fit straight in.

Got mine yesterday (first time FPV) the googles kinda disappoint to be honest I was expecting to get some VR googles similiar to pc gaming but they have a massive black bars around the screen, is this the case on every FPV google or just because they're the cheaper ones? Still super fun to fly though!😅

To be honest, this is why I liked them. I think if it was a full field of view it would likely give me motion sickness and make it harder to stand up. It's not as immersive I guess, but just as fun imo! Not sure what the goggles 3 are like, they might be more VR-ish

You can turn on horizon levelling in the goggles so you don’t see the lean if you want…

The box isn't a charger. You actually need a 60w charging plug for faster charging. I charge at 100w

I’m not being a jobs worth just asking the question because this is something I’d like to do. It maybe the size of the drone but legally flying with FPV shouldn’t you have another person with you to be a spotter.

May i ask you which is the max distance with the googles? And can you take photos while being on motion controller?

Good question, not sure about max distance. Searching online it says the N3 goggles have a max range of 13km, but I don't think the Neo would do that. I'll see if I can play around a bit more with range in my next video. And yes you can take photos - there's a button on the side of the control to take photos / start recording.

As a relative beginner with FPV , I have a Neo and Avata 2, you will deffo need to get a Simulator if you are considering the Dji FPV Control 2/3 i have the Control 3 and for technical areas EG trees and small spaces i deffo find the Motion control 3 far easier as i find flying slowly with the sticks very tough. with that said its very rewarding to fly sticks and get it half right and even throw in a couple flips and spins. one good thing to remember is to start with Attitude mode turned on this will not allow you to flip or roll past a certain point so will help learn full manual mode i use it loads and when i feel brave turn it off. you can see that in some of my videos i post on here too ;0) have fun and great video..

Thanks for the info! Yeah I've heard a simulator is really important. Id like to capture myself flying with absolutely 0 experience just to capture how hard it is - then I'll go away and practice in a sim, and return to see the progress!

Don't fly over water with the drone only or the phone. I lost mine to a pool when I accidentally flew into a small sign and it got bumped out over a swimming pool. It promptly drowned an quick and painless death. Be extra careful around any body of water. Even if you are "over land" an unexpected gust of wind or bump of an obstacle could easily send the drone over the water and too it's doom. I learned the hard way.

Are you in UK ? Sounds like it from your accent. Why are you shooting 30fps or 60fps ? That's NTSC , UK and most of the world is pal, 25fps or 50fps.

Yeah in the UK. The Neo maxes out at 4k30

@@ZenBein i know that but uk is 25fps or 50fps video, pal setting. dropping 30fps on a 25fp timeline can cause problems. If you don't understand video then that's ok.

Does it show in the goggles as 4k? or is it 1080P in goggles while recording in 4k? Also wish there was a setting so the drone would go where you look.
