"It's just hormones," they say... But let's get real about why we might be feeling extra overwhelmed during perimenopause and menopause, especially during the holidays.
Yes, declining hormones affect our mood, sleep, and libido. That's science. But here's what we don't talk about enough:
We're the family's emotional CEOs (Hello holiday planning!)
We're the default organizers (who's tracking all those gift lists?)
We're thinking about everyone's protein intake while planning holiday meals
We're juggling teens, aging parents, careers, and our changes
We're carrying mental loads that are invisible to others
And now add holiday shopping, decorating, and being the "magic maker" for everyone else
So maybe, just maybe, it's not just our hormones making us "cranky." Between perimenopause and being the holiday command center, feeling overwhelmed is perfectly normal.
Remember to care for yourself this season and give yourself some grace - you're doing more than enough. 💝
