Is it Legal to Drive on the Road with the Windshield DOWN?? **WATCH BEFORE ATTEMPTING**

Driving the JEEP WRANGLER JL with the WINDSHIELD FOLDED DOWN!! While it is a neat feature to have on the jeep, it does bring up the question of if it is LEGAL or NOT. Before you try this on any road, make sure you CHECK YOUR STATE and LOCAL LAWS! I found it to be very strange feeling, but also would NOT drive like this on the highway! Off-Road use ONLY!

I've got an old TJ and CJ. The TJ is a pain the ass to drop the windshield, but worth it. I've been CJ on the highway 28 years, and it's just FUN! A good set goggles and correctly tried down. They work great. It's like driving a roller coaster! Just like motorcycle you learn what to avoid to keep from being hit by road crap. Unfortunately there is no avoid bugs sometimes. Chew completely and down the hatch. u don't always drive a Jeep. Oh wait, I do always drive a Jeep.

In my experience in Maine through research and driving with it down I have found that you only need eye protection, after a week of driving and multiple officers driving right by like they saw nothing I can say that you are probably fine to fold it down in Maine at least

I took my windshield right off. It is legal in Ontario Canada. the highway traffic act simply states that there must be a clear view out the front, it does not define a windshield. My neighbor is a Police Officer and he asked his traffic officer supervisor. I have driven around with it completely removed, cops have passed me and have not come after me. Late arrival here. But in New Hampshire it is legal to drive with the windshield down, but you must have eye protection. No different than riding a motorcycle. You don’t even need a helmet to ride a motorcycle in NH hence the state motto Live Free or Die

Adding a tint stripe to the top of the wind shield is really easy now along with cleaning it. Appreciate the tips. (: Don’t stop making videos like these.

I would t recommend tinting with the windshield down, you are more likely to get dirt in the film if the glass is laying flat!

I drive with Jetski over 50 mph (with sun glasses) and still have both eyes so far. As far as the JK vs JL. One thing you are forgetting is the JK the ENTIRE windshield is gone. The JL not so much. (just being honest here)

Reason it’s not illegal is because the roll cage is classified as the main protective of the body so the roof window and anything on top of it is classified as unibody and the windshield can be put down as long as the hinges are attached to the body taking it off completely is illegal

Got a 2020 wrangler unlimited in cal law states vech must be equipped with windshield but doesn't say it has to be in upright position so we found a loophole

I have a feeling the guy who had his cracked didn't tie his down, lol. As far as the legality, it will vary from state to state. Here in South Carolina, you can drive with the windshield down/ off but only if you're wearing eye protection.

Driving with the windshield is fine, but it does hide inspection/registration stickers. I dont know about the lack of mirrors if you have you doors off though.

My police officer friends all told me usually cops don’t write tickets for things they aren’t 100% sure on. But that sucks that happens to you! Cj’s are dope and look sweet with the windshield down!

Legal or not what state are you in? And some states it is okay if you have eye protection on some states it must be up some it must be on the vehicle if it came from the manufacturer with one and some and most if your vehicle was built to do that it is okay. So call your state police and city police and ask and or a lawyer not someone on KZbin.

If you drive with the windshield down, you'd BETTER know how to tie a proper knot. Obviously use rope that's strong enough, and have spare rope. Also cut a piece of pipe insulation to run over the tie down to better pad the windshield.

There is another hole close to where the hook would normally go, I just fished it through that and the hook hole and the tire it off on the bump stop on the hood

Jeep windshield tie down straps are a thing. That's what that thing in the center of the hood is fore.
