I have a 50 lb recurve that was made in the late fifties. I originally bought it for $20 in a pawn shop back in the 80s. It had a blocky grip and high shelf and covered in paint for hunting. I have customized the grip and shelf area to fit both me and my shooting style as suggested by Fred Asbell in his book years ago. it is a glass laminated bow and I have also refinished the bow years ago as well. I have left it strung for years and it still shoots just fine. it is also one of my favorite bows, have taken a lot of game with it over the years, even bow fished with it. Love your videos,, keep it up

Yes, This guy knows his stuff! I have a Glass laminated Hummingbird bow which was a little heavy on the draw weight for me. So I left it strung and hung it on the wall hoping that it would loose a few pounds and be easier to shoot. But no, after 25 years, it did not loose anything. Also, when a bow is strung, there is hardly any load on the limbs at all.

I don't understand why it's such a problem for some people to unstring their bow. Pure laziness. It takes a few seconds, and it's being safe, not risking your bow. Obviously some bows can take it, as you demonstrate, but I would never take that chance.

Finally it’s right to unstrung the bow atva sunny day if you want to leave him in the car. But if the producer are using the right glue, fiberglass and processes it’s also no problem for the bow! But of course I’m not recommending to store a glaslaminated bow strunged at a hot and sunny day in a car!!! But just check this vid: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmrLh32tqKlpgKs

I have a 33 1/2 draw length, would a Bodnik bow be able to handle this seeing that it can take so much abuse?
@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111
@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111 5 жыл бұрын
Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton of course our bows can handle this draw length without quality problems. But the main point is that you need a bow to be comfortable and effective at your full draw. For this draw length I can’t recommend right now one of our Bodnik Bows. What kind of bow type you are looking for? Recurve, longbow or hybrid?

Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton It really depends what you prefer to shoot. Right now I have the 60” Shrew Bow in my mind. This hybrid bow can handle this draw length without any problems. It’s a 60” powerful bow. But also very low mass weight! @@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111 Interesting video Henry, unfortunately I do not own a Bodnik bow in my collection as at the moment the bows of my choice are out of my price range. What would have been a more convincing test is if he had taken a draw weight measurement before and after at similar temperatures. While Epoxy resin's strength degrades at temperatures at or above 177 degrees Celsius what about the bamboo core? As bamboo can be formed with heat, if a bamboo (or wood core) bow's limbs suffer limb poundage after being left strung in high temperatures? It's nice that you take the time to answer older videos, thanks Henry.

This guy does not know how to hang a trad bow. You see how far apart those pegs are? They should be as close to the riser as possible to keep the limbs from twisting. Now you can use a rack like that if you hang the bow by the string and not the limbs. Those pegs are way too far apart. So many bow tack makers make what looks good instead of the right way. Those wooden pens can bend with changes in humidity and if one leans one way and the other leans the other way, you will end up with two twisted limbs. Expensive to fix. Being a voter he should know this. Also, I string those bows. With all the pressure on the string 24/7, the string will stretch changing your brace height and your arrows will look out of tune to your bow. So even if you leave it string, unless you use a loud string that does not stretch, you will have to check the brace height every time your shoot, meaning unstringing it to twist up the string to set the brace height anyway. So just go ahead and I string it to be safe, and even I unstrung, do not had the limbs on a rack like his. This will save you headaches in the future.
