yeah !! pressure sensitivity isnt a big deal in my book. i have a stylus but it doesnt process pressure so it doesnt have pressure sensitivity and you’re still creating art regardless of if you do or dont have that. it also doesnt matter what device youre on ❤

There are pens that have rubber or brush nibs that are great for learning pressure, plus one can adjust their settings. It might be hard at first, bit stick with it and you will get it, but if you don't those skills will never develope as art is all about honing those skills and nothing is instant gratification.

As someone who’s been in digital art for the past 4 years, I started learning digital using an iPhone 6s. I was broke af and couldn’t afford an iPhone at the time, and the only app that it could handle was Ibis Paint X. but it taught me digital art from the bottom of the barrel up. And I learned how to put together some pretty decent digital art pieces, and now today I use an IPad Pro. Do I recommend using a phone to start digital art? No. But if I was able to put decent art pieces together on a small phone, then with todays phones, you should have no problem. If it weren’t for my iPhone 6s, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today.

based in the context of the video I will also (not being a yes, buutt...statement, rather adding on) say, limitations also doesn’t mean your art will be worse than it could be, those limitations will help you learn to adapt to unfamiliar things and situations so that, even if you are limited, you can make something that you're proud of, which does take time and practice, but if you're starting with just your phone and some thoughts, it'll go a lot further when you do get into better materials as your art gets better if you start with great materials and end with them, you'll know how to work with one thing, but if you start small and work your way up, now you're learning how to make art out of something unfamiliar and new, which is also sort of thrilling but the main things with art are, have fun, be creative, and do whatever tf you want because it's YOUR art, no one else's ♡♡♡

Short answer: You then don't need to go digital. If you have a phone, just get paper and draw traditionally. Then if you take a picture of it and edit it around a bit it looks surprisingly digital. That's how I started commissions before I could buy a tablet so method works

I was a digital artist back in 2006 using a mouse and photoshop 7.0, I did it without having access to the tools of today so you definitely can do it. Doesn't matter the tools you have, you can make things happen as long as you're willing to find a way.

As someone who draws on phone with their fingers often, it’s just so bizarre seeing people act so surprised when people draw without a tablet. I used to have a phone without pressure sensitivity and I was fine, my friend has a phone without pressure sensitivity and their linework is amazing. We’re adapting to all we have available, of course it’s gonna come easily to us. I find drawing on phone much easier than using one of those cheap non-screen tablets personally.

For anyone else wondering, you definitely can! I'd say that the bare minimum you need for digital art is a digital screen (like a phone), the rest is optional. I do plan on moving to a pc with a tablet cuz it'd be faster for me, but I've been drawing with a phone and finger for years and it works perfectly fine. Don't be discouraged just because you don't have a huge tablet and 2 computer screens like professionals do.

Here's a new comment.. for serious artists , art is combetitive asf there are millions of artists who already beat you in most of the ideas so you actually need decent equipments not highest quality but mediocre is fine you'll have to work extra hard to be out there with them.. study anatomy if you wanna be character artist, perspective composition environment if you also wanna draw backgrounds, and of course color theory if you wanna color your drawings and also many more.. work hard to achieve what you dream and when you see the results you'll feel good about yourself but hey ! don't feel so good just yet there's always more work to do Good luck. Ha, when I was a kid, I started off drawing with my ps vita on an app called Colors. I was finally able to get a cheap drawing tablet in highschool (a Wacom intuos I think?), then got a nice XP Pen Artist 15.6 with my first check in senior year. I used to make little animated GIFs by opening a basic notes app, drawing at the top of the file scrolled all the way up to keep the orientation, and screenshotting stuff. No layers, opacity, pen pressure, or distinction between the stylus and my hand, so I couldn't rest it, and every "undo" required me to first tap a 3 Dot icon to open a table of options. And if I inserted a screenshot for reference, it was slightly too small and I'd have to make my strokes quick, because resting my hand would cue a cancel cause it would think I was trying to do something to the picture. Now I finally got a tablet and procreate but I don't think it would've been worth it if I didn't go through the original hell and learn a good bit along the way, maintaining my interest. And now they're going to release the animation specific version in like a month so I should be over the moon then. Moral of the story, if you want to do something but you could technically be doing it in a better way later, there's some argument to be made about practicality and putting effort where it matters most, but if you really want it, do what you can in the moment, and trust that you'll get there eventually. And much like how a cat with a bell learns to be stealthier, trust that adversity can make you better at, or at least comparitively comfortable with your own stuff when you finally get the flow

I enjoy using the mobile Clip Studio Paint. I mainly use it for rough sketches and then touch it up on my computer. But, if I only have my phone I will do complete works it’s really handy

Wow that amazing to me! Really showing it not the tool but its the artist that makes the work. I don't like drawing on my phone it so tiny and narrow I endup draw so but and have to resize stuff and gets very squishedlooking.mcuh easier on tablets/iPad because they feel like normal paper sizes and the thinner phone sized format
