We are limited, because so few people have the supreme athletic ability to run 105 times around an athletics track, all in under 68sec per lap. That is what Eluid Kipchoge achieved when running under 2hrs in Vienna

It is possible, as Eluid Kipchoge has made history, in doing just that. The only problem, is that there are only a tiny number of elite athletes who have the ability to even have a go at breaking Eluid.s 1hr 59,40 time. If his sub 2 hr record was recognised as the new World record, it would be an incredibly hard record to beat, as few athletes have the capability to reach it.

I hate how people say East Africans take drugs, or grow up in higher altitudes, or run to school everyday. Sure that helps but I think it’s simply a genetic advantage their body has.
@aarondavidson907
@aarondavidson907 5 жыл бұрын
Mario De Rossi I mean they do grow up at altitude tho. and they’ve been conditioned at altitude for millennia so long distance running is what they’re designed for
@note2owns
@note2owns 6 жыл бұрын
I used to run long distance in school, and I am a "ball of the foot" runner. I tried the "heel" technique and I understand why that technique is 2.3 x more likely to result in injury. I felt immense pressure on my knees and ankles sometimes to the point of sharp pain.
@gracyru8806
@gracyru8806 6 жыл бұрын
Genetics,environment and training aside; Eliud Kipchoge's 'head game' is on a level of its own. The man's a beast at staying in control of his mind. Its not unique though; elite mountain climbers have done it in environments and conditions that are limiting and potentially dangerous.

Your first point isn’t actually accurate. If you have poor technique, yes. You’ll damage your knees running on pavement. But if you have highly efficient technique with minimal impact, your knees can take a lot of pavement running. I have pretty efficient form, and I’ve been running largely on roads for the past year. And my knees are no worse for wear
