I bought it and it's a great watch. Love the turbine design which is completely original as far as I know. I bought it for under 200€ but the price has risen since. Love the finish, love the turbine design, love the large numbers, love the lume.

It’s a simple but beautiful watch. Yes, the turbine texture can be a little more prominent. Again, when the Chinese start putting out some great original designs with these specs… Maybe Seiko will start putting sapphire on their watches then. Nah! Who are we kidding?! 😅. Thanks for the great review. This is why these reviews are so important because this watch clearly wears much larger than what’s listed.

You are always spot on Mate! - As Honest as it gets.. It looks like a dark star (Dial) - Yes a better movement and 22 bracelet for that size and few $$ higher price makes sense. Thanks as always.

I've had this watch a few weeks and I'm very happy with it. The ghost position doesn't bother me and I love San Martin bracelets so the 21mm lug width isn't an issue. I'm sure a 22mm Nato will look fine if I do want a change. I really like the subtlety of the dial, makes this a good everyday watch. If you want a little more flash, the white dial might be the one for you. 20cm wrist and surpassingly no need for extra links even in the hot weather.

This one is tempting as legibility is usually my primary criteria, and this (to me) seems to be SM’s most legible dial to date

I have the white dial version and I think this is the best made watch they have released to date, and I have basically every newer release. The case and bracelet are simple in design, but flawless in execution. BTW, mine has orange lume and it is still glowing brightly at 6:30 in the morning. I wouldn't have ordered it if I had realized it had the NH35, and I am so glad I overlooked that detail. You're right about using a PT5000 or 9000 series movement as an improvement, especially is they made a smaller version. 11.9 mm thick works for this case diameter, but if it were, say, 38mm, they would need to slim it down

I'm glad that you're enjoying your orange one. It's good to hear that the lume isn't compromised on it. A smaller version around 38mm world be pretty good.

Basically a sub with the interesting dial. I am really glad that they are experimenting well with their dial game. It’s getting exciting with what SM is up to.

Thank you for review! Its funny, SM gets criticized for all the homage watches, then they come up their own designs reminiscent of a mix between IWC MK and the new Air King and its not a pilot watch? I bought 1 and have owned the 116900 Air King. This wears better, more like the 126900 Air King. It's keeping COSC time and the quality is high. Love it!

I would have described this as a field watch with flieger 12 and dive crown guard. On balance, isn't it really a ruggedized field watch? Either way I like it. Shame about the lug width.

I'm inclined to accept the use of ghost date position movements in no date watches in watches that cost up to, say $ 200. San Martin sell their watches as premium, so I expect them to do better. But mate: who are we to not consider a watch with crown guards a pilot's watch while Rolex thinks their Air King needs them? 😅

Good review, man. I think it needs the four cardinal directions etched onto the bezel. I guess it's a gada watch with strong pilot motifs in the hands, turbine, and all numerals. They could have made the triangle upside down to make it more piloty.

I actually like the look of this. My problem with San Martin watches, is the thin hands on most of their dive & dive style watches. Thin hands should only be on dress & chronograph pieces imho

I really like it although as you said the movement and the lug width😬 also what's going on with the crown guards 😬 can't see them guarding much, would rather have none or more substantial ones 🤔

I know the turbine style dial from my old Jacques Lemans 1-1540, so it´s not really new. Nice review, thanks for that 👍👍👍

The crown guards, crown, hands and case profile are quite like the Sinn 556. So I guess that's why they call it a pilot watch?

Most of the time i like the SM logo, but i feel it's just a bit too big and bold on this watch. If they had ghosted it in the same colour as the dial i think it's would've looked nice. Solid release overall though.

Thank you for your excellent review which I waited for. I love this watch and it will bd my next purchase. I wanted the Stowa Verus. Now I can save 900€. I can't get the obsession with the NH38. Yes, there is a date postion. I don't mind. Keep on.

excellent lume like all SM watches. there is a watch where the small seconds is in a shape of a turbine. very cool looking but too big for me

Good review 👍 . Sound criticisms, a flieger dial in a Sub case does not make a pilot watch. I do quite like the dial, but wouldn't buy it in that case.

Если у вас принято дарить часы на юбилеи , дни рождения , к какой то знаменательной дате , то такой скромный подарок скрасит на многие годы чьи то воспоминания и если часы вдруг сломаются , то починить у мастера не составит большой сложности , потому что внутри стоит довольно распространённый механизм . В крайнем случае на барахолке можно купить часы СИТИЗЕН и использовать их на запчасти . Покупать ли себе такие часы ? Дизайн не плохой . Но практика показывает , что с циферблата апельсинового цвета время считывать удобнее при любом освещении . Цена вопроса . И вопрос предпочтений . У меня есть СИТИЗЕН , есть СЕЙКО . У кого ещё нет , не плохой выбор за не большие деньги . Хорошо когда выбор есть .
