Is it safe to eat a bruised banana? Microscope PROOF!

Our banana friends are at it again with some outrageous microscope videos!
A video was recently posted to a microscope channel which showed worms in the bruised part of a banana -
I think this is fake.
Whilst not all bananas are worm free, I am willing to bet that the majority are okay and fine to eat. In this case, bruised does not equate to rotten!
Go ahead, you have my approval to eat bananas.

You know, the brown marks are actually a sign that the bananas are finally ripe, that’s why monkeys actually prefer bananas with brown spots, they’re sweeter because they contain more fructose, or fruit sugar if you will. Green bananas are totally unripe, and will usually taste bitter if you try to eat them, they have to be ripened first, and when they turn their signature yellow, that’s actually only the first part of the ripening process, it’s not actually fully ripe until the first brown spot appears.

You deserve the millions of views those fake videos get. Your videos are original, well thought-out and put together nicely. Your videos are not too long, not too short -your videos are interesting because my attention span has plenty more to give. The root of the problem is that your videos -as much as they are interesting and informative, they are not a topic or area that many people are going to be searching for, but if directed to by the KZbin algorithm, be completely engrossed in. Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t alter it too much -the mixture is perfect. I reckon you would get some big-hit videos by looking at popular/trendy snacks or lollies, like Japanese gummies or something. Idk how amazing that will look under a microscope. I love your videos and thank you for contributing to the total 1% of KZbin videos that are actually worth your time watching and not just junk. Love from Brisbane, Australia. ❤

Brown spots on bananas can come from two things. It's either bruising like said in the video, or it's just Ethylene. Ethylene is the chemical compound responsible for ripeness in a banana and it turns banana from green, to yellow and then it gets overly ripe and becomes brown.
@rafaykhan3562

Those aren't worms. They're fruit fly larvae and it's actually quite common to find them in fruits like bananas, guavas etc. so doesn't necessarily mean the original video was fake!

Yeah - so I note that worms can still be found in bananas - but not all bananas. This is really more about how we extrapolate the results to a wider population of bananas - does one banana represent all bananas in this case? Or are there other factors at play that we should consider -

Remember, all those other people around you are just fine simply following basic rules like washing vegetables and fruits off, and refrigerating leftovers. In fact, our obsession with cleanliness is one cause of the rise in allergies, our immune systems have nothing to do anymore. Just don't eat wild forage without washing and cooking it first, but anything sold at the store has to follow guidelines and be safe, or the store would be sued out of existence and shut down.

Idk if the video is fake but bananas and other fruits could have small worms (visible to the eyes) so it’s always good to check. I’ve bought bananas to this fruit stall, all their other fruits are fine but the bananas with brown spots always have worms in it for some reason, so I never bought bananas from them again and bought it from somewhere else, where even though there are brown spots, it doesn’t have worms. So, it depends, you still need to check and don’t just eat as if your eyes are closed.
