Corrections: Viruses are considered non-living organisms. They have DNA or RNA, replicate and evolve but do not have metabolism and are not made of cells. They rely on host cells to survive. Here is a great debate between two microbiologist on whether or not viruses are alive. microbiologysociety.org/publi...
Also, most drops have a volume of about 0.05 ml. This is about a 20th of the measurement in the video. I used that measurement since that is what I found in literature.
How many organisms are in a drop of water? In this video, I added grass into a beaker of water and left it alone. After a few days, I looked at what grew and put it under a microscope.
I use:
Camera - Nikon D3300
Microscopes -
Wards trinocular Microscope (not sure the model) - 40X, 100X, 400X, 1000X American Optical One - Ten microscope - 150X, 600X, 1500X
The magnification is shown in the bottom right hand corner of each shot.

I can see it now. All these microbes going about their lives minding their own business. The gossip starts, "hey did you hear about Charlie and Phil, they were abducted by aliens." Then the UFO conspiracy rumours start. The Govt. and the military get involved. The Govt. deny all sightings and abductions. Then a lab assistant drops his pippet into the glass and then suddenly we have Roswell. Panic in the microbe streets, aliens on the TV and then talk of an alien invasion. The microbe scientists say that the aliens are so advanced, they would be peaceful and there is no need for panic. But the microbes are scared, panic buying at the microbe Walmart, rationing starts. Riots and microbe preppers are on the TV daily.

@@nirv2796 I don't know, it's just common sense. If you get to be a virus or a bacteria for a day you will never comphrehend the vastness of humans, probably a micro-organism as such would "think" that a human body is the largest to exist and it might consider our body all the universe that there is, if you got to an atomic level, even atoms would consider a virus its universe, etc... So who to say what we humans can understand or see is everything in the world, most likley we are a virus to another being, I myself even put the idea that earth could be an organism itself, and each human is a mere nonsignifact cell of trillions of cells.

@@nirv2796 Try to think outside of the box :). Just thinking "we are it" is a little ignorant. Lastly think of a fetus inside his mother womb, can a fetus understand there is a universe outside his mother womb? Nope. So by logic, most likley there is much much more than we can understand, and most probabley will never understand with our limited minds. Sorry for the ramble :).

Yeah in jr. high I actually took biology twice. The first time I brought some pond water. We inspected it and it was teeming with life of course. We shelved it and it was forgotten for 2 years. In 8th grade I took the course again by accident, but I didn't tell anyone because I loved that class! I told my teacher about the jar and he got all excited he was like lets look at it! It was a jar of barren wasteland of death after those 2 years. I don't remember if I kept some leaves in there or not for the bacteria. I made sure not to get any on me. Who knows how toxic the water actually was... LOL

Nath my problem so correct, sir. Why do you think that millions, if not billions, of people drink, bathe in, cook with, etc tap water and don't come down with rampant GI problems or parasites which can be dangerous to the human organism, etc. Because the immune system (and especially a quite healthy, well-functioning immune system) kills off the "bad bacteria" (and don't forget, not all bacteria are necessarily harmful to humans. Of course, we're talking about other kinds of microbes and even some viruses too, but that is what the immune system is for!
