Biggest reason me and anyone I know covers their plates is because cops in Australia will comb through social media pics and mail people defect notices or fines for hooning. No joke, I've seen this shit happen. No plates, no face, no case is the rules if you're gonna film anything. I have no photos of my skid car with plates visible on the internet for this reason. It's insane the amount of effort cops will throw at a fucking fine for some road piracy compared to actual violent criminals. I wish I was making this shit up.

Always cover the VIN plate on your dash! Criminals can pose as used car dealers and get keys and pre programmed fobs made at the dealer with your VIN. Most dealers would refuse them without the car present but not all will. Also, if you own a 2000 or older Honda, assume your car is unlocked 24/7. They are ridiculously easy to open with a bump key. To protect the actual car, the only way is multiple layered analog kill switches DEEPLY hidden. Fun fact, in many states you can protect property with lethal force.
