If I were in a metal band I'd just wear shirts of other metal bands on stage. That seems like a cool thing to do especially since some the fans will probably like it too and make us look like we too are fans. For example if I'm in a doom metal band and wear a Pentagram shirt on stage or something, that seems cool.

the main time where i'd care on the type of clothing a band is wearing would be in the case of bands like GWAR, Slipknot, and KISS, they just have their costume that they wear on stage (and in certain cases off-stage) and it's not even a negative care, i find it as entertaining and part of the charcter of the band

Hi, Tony! I saw Apocalyptica live last summer and they were awesome. It was at Werfpop here in the Netherlands. All the metalheads flooded to the front stage and all of the other people that were there just kinda left. Perttu Kivilaakso was wearing a Misfits shirt with no sleeves, which I found interesting since they play metal on cellos, but for what I know the Misfits are a punk band. Also, the band asked us to be the vocalists, and I was able to sing along to everything pretty well- from Seek and Destroy to One. I had the greatest time. Later, Perttu also made a funny smiling face at me, so that was nice. I also got a t-shirt later, and that was almost a year ago. I'm 10 years old now, 11 years old in two weeks and two days, and I'm gonna see A Perfect Circle live at Pinkpop, go to Werfpop again and have lots of fun. Have a very nice day or night! [Timezones, ya' know. X)] Edit: This was pretty unrelated, I know, but Perttu wore the Misfits shirt so it kinda counts. :)
@darksidecola45296 жыл бұрын
Imo, theres two scenarios you can wear your own band merch, if you're a super unknown band and you're wearing it in day to day life, or if it's in your bands photos or whatever. It's kinda tacky to wear your own band shirt on stage, if you bought tickets to a show, you already you should already know the name of the band.
@natelandherr52026 жыл бұрын
Onstage, I think it’s ok if it’s retro or rare merch if they’re big, or new merch if they’re small. I don’t think anyone should wear their merch in public though, especially if your face is on it. You did bring up a good point with the dirty clothes point, I didn’t think of that. I don’t have a huge problem with it overall, but if they wear a different band’s shirt, I think that’s WAY cooler, ESPECIALLY if it’s a smaller band. I love seeing Municipal Waste wearing other band’s merch, like Gama Bomb, or stuff from their other bands, like Cannabis Corpse and Iron Reagan. Imagine how much cooler Kerry King would look in a Dark Angel, Testament, or Atrophy shirt.

Just saw TYR the other night and Gunnar Thomsen (bass player) was wearing a TYR shirt that had the Faroe Island Flag on it. Thought it was cool, so I go to the merch stand to grab a 2XL and she tells me they are all out of that size. I wondered why 2XLs are always sold out. End of the tour probably, but possible laundry issues bands can face on the road? Hmmm. Anyway, like most, I don't care if they wear their own shirts, as long as the whole band isn't wearing them at the same time I guess. That would probably make me laugh.
