They may want to convince the owner and fans this is not Love in GB and he does not want static from fans or veto from ownership if it happens. If they don't have a move on QB when he is gone, they might as well blow up the team to get a top 10 pick. I would like to see them deal with a $40M cap hit from a big QB, I think they would have a hard time preforming at even their current level with the cuts they would have to make. GB or Seattle had several years not signing free agents to get where they are, you drop that on a team not prepared there are cuts, dead cap, more cuts.

Browns are going into the offseason with $35M, and with contracts that can be dealt to leave some room, it's definitely possible. I personally thing that Derek Carr would be the best option for the Browns since he only has a $20M cap hit and is a very good QB, even with the depleted receiving core he has in Vegas.

I think it’s true that they’re intentionally making Baker throw. It’s obvious… and it’s also necessary. They needed to know what they have in him before they make a decision on his future with the Browns. It makes sense , it’s smart. Personal opinion for both sides of the ball for the browns. Their offense is weird. It’s supposed to be run first then spread the ball with the play action pass. They have talented receivers but couldn’t figure how to use them. It feels like only Higgins gets open. The play calling for Odell was never there either. Then on defense the media acts as if it’s elite but it’s really not. The defense is slightly above average with a lot of talented young players but the only stars they have is still Garrett and Ward. I say new head coach. You don’t have much to offer a free agent Vet

Look at what the Ravens did with Lamar after his ankle injury. Immediately rested him to heal up. Now they are likely headed to the playoffs and we are done. Outside of that play calling has been abysmal this year as has general offensive schemes and adjustment. For example TJ was double teamed only TWICE yesterday against a rookie tackle that tried his best. Terrible coaching.

I have a question about all of this. It involves loyalty. Is that a thing in the NFL? I say this as a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. We can't get high profile free agents to come here. There is just no interest. We do not have a winning culture, or draw to bring guys in, no matter what we pay them. Could that also be the case in Cleveland? Baker seems like he WANTS to be there. He is competent as a QB. Maybe not elite, but capable. What makes anyone think that Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson would choose Cleveland over say, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh, Houston, or NYG? I think Baker will be in Cleveland because for now, he is their best and only option. Or, does money talk, even to those guys that don't really need it?

I think it's more about the Browns than it is Baker and watching that game last night, I honestly felt like there was a point where they felt like it just wasn't gonna be their night so they kinda started giving up. I've heard all the stories about Baker losing the locker room because of what went down with OBJ and I'd like to not think that professionals being paid millions to do something that most people have to stop doing after high school wouldn't intentionally drop easy passes just to make a quarterback they don't like look bad but it honestly felt that way at a certain point last night. I've been a Steelers fan since I was about eight years old so I'm obviously not a Browns fan but I'm also an OU fan so I still wanna see Baker succeed when he's not playing against the Steelers. Getting out of Cleveland probably would be the best bet for him. I don't know where he could go that's equipped for him to immediately show that he wasn't the problem but that's especially hard to do now with the way the media is. Once you start to struggle, it kinda just starts a landslide of negativity from the media and fans that's hard to get away from. I just think the Browns as an organization are not a winning group right now from a management standpoint. The way it looked last night, I would probably 85-90% believe that Stefanski is low key sabotaging Baker by making him play hurt against a very physical defense and not running the ball against what is also a not very good run defense. Chubb opens the game by breaking off a 30 yard run and then they just stop giving him the ball. Stefanski says something about a rib injury but the dude still averaged seven yards per carry. Something's not stirring the Kool Aid there to me.
