We’ve been hearing that skinny jeans are out for 2 years now. Some millennial announced that the side part and skinny jean were out…. And apparently nobody listened. What we boomer’s understand is fashion is never a, “this OR that” truly fashionable women know that fashion is always, “this AND that” so I will add some other options, but will always default to what compliments my body best.

I’ll be sticking to skinny jeans for one reason: they look best on me. I dress to flatter my particular body - which is petite. I also prefer classic dressing vs trendy. The way I see it is: Most important thing, when it comes to fashion is: 1. Wear what you personally love. 2. Dress in accordance to your body type. As for trends, buy as few trendy items as possible - these items must be something that compliments your style and your existing wardrobe. Stay away from those baggy pants. They don’t look good on anyone, not even on the models... Well, that is my opinion.

Recently, several, over 50 yr. old, KZbinrs have said that skinny jeans are not really out, just because the millennials said they were! I'm in my 70's and have never been a fan of leggings, so if you have knee-high boots, I think skinny jeans are really the only thing to wear with them if you're wearing midi or maxi skirts or dresses. Ladies, wear what looks good on you! I think extremely baggy jeans are going to be not popular with our age group. I do like straight legs and I'm liking cargo pants that are a little loose, but with my petite frame, anything too big baggy is not flattering.

While the stylists are trying hard to convince everyone that the wide, baggy-legged pants and jeans, high water pants, baggy sweaters with horizontal stripes plus the oversize coats and blazers are in, sorry it is a losing battle. We went through those garments and there was a reason women threw them out of their wardrobes. They did nothing to improve our sense of self confidence or make us feel like we looked ready to face the day. If the runway models look sad and awkward in them, what chance to the rest of us have of being able to step out our front door and look polished and ready. I am sticking to what I know works. I will be waiting to buy new clothes when the designers and companies come back to their senses and stop trying to make women look like shapeless feed sacks!

To be honest, I only wear skinny jeans with knee hi boots and long sweaters in the winter. They do serve a good purpose that way, even for us mature ladies! Also, I did the dive into wide legged jeans last year….not bad. Definitely feel like I am back in high school, though!

I’ve been loving my wide legged jeans. Initially when I was in the changing room looking at them in the mirror, I couldn’t deny that they had something. It was the “fun” element you mentioned. On a whim, I bought them and now they are the most loved and most worn jeans.

A couple of months ago I bought a pair of straight jeans and a pair of straight leg boot cut jeans. It was a bit of an eye adjustment after wearing skinny jeans for so many years. However, I'm finding that both straight jean styles are now new favorites. I'll be wearing my skinny jeans very similar to what you showed us. Yes, a few simple tweaks really are the key to staying fresh and modern NOT frumpy!

I have included several different pairs into my wardrobe, although a distressed or patchwork detail is not to my personal taste. I got my combat boots at Walmart No Boundaries for $30 and I cannot believe how fabulous they are (I did have to size down one entire size). The Free Assembly jeans are GREAT! I’m so glad there are silhouettes in jeans other than skinny jeans. For years the only thing available were skinny jeans so I couldn’t find jeans that worked for me. On my figure skinny’s don’t work. Sometimes the leg is so narrow I can’t get them over my calf. Now I can buy straight, flare, boot cut and wide. I just love the variety. I wear wide leg with kicks all the time. The trick is the hem has to hit the floor. I absolutely love that short sleeve puffer, I’ve never seen that silhouette before. I’m going to save up for one. Just 😍 it. I don’t like the vests but I sure do that short sleeve.

I’m not entirely sure what the difference is between skinny jeans and straight leg jeans, honestly I just buy the jeans that look good on my pear-shaped body. Generally wide leg jeans look horrible on me! (Though they’re super cute on my daughter.) I like your looks though, and the cropped wide leg jeans look so good on you it makes me want to try again. Maybe a cropped pair would be good for spring/summer.

The style of jean that best compliments one’s body and in which one feels most comfortable is what’s on trend. Skinny jeans, like those with lots of ripping, do nothing for me. But a nice high waisted relaxed or wide leg jean? Way more flattering and confidence inspiring…so guess what I wear with a western boot, a wedge platform, pumps, stilettos, or heeled sandal? Yep…flattering and stylish and I am 60!

I'm a kind of a dummy when it comes to jeans and fashion in general. What's the difference between skinny jeans and jeggings?

Jeggings are even tighter than skinny jeans, (if that's possible), and they're usually made of slightly thinner fabric. I have to wear jeggings, because I have a health problem that causes me to have a big stomach. If I buy regular jeans that fit my stomach, the legs are absolutely HUGE on me. So I get jeggings that fit over my stomach, and end up with legs that fit pretty well. But anyway, there's not a huge difference between jeggings and skinny jeans, in terms of their general appearance, except skinny jeans will have thicker, more substantial denim and jeggings are a little more stretchy denim.
