Күн бұрын

In this video I restore my 1976 boler 1300. It is a fiberglass trailer originally designed in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It needed work when I got it, but last year the frame broke, so I decided it was finally time to make it look nice! I took the month of June off and worked on this full time. The majority of the work was completed in June, but of course I didn't finish everything I wanted to, so some of this footage is from July and August as well. This video is not a how-to video, it is just a bit of entertainment, so I hope you sit back and enjoy.
I have made some how-to content on some of the projects for this trailer and you can find them in this playlist: • Boler Projects
A special thank you to those that helped me with this project.
My dad for helping to repair the fiberglass and paint.
Arek for the use of his garage, for welding and helping out when needed.
Nigel for holding wrenches when I couldn't reach.
my neighbour Garnet for helping to line up the frame.
And of course my wife Abbey for letting me putter around in the shop for the majority of the month of June and helping me install the windows before it started raining!

This is one of the best Boler videos I have watched. Very nicely done. I wish I had your talents. I've put a new Dometic 3 way fridge in our 74, as well as a set of cushions from Scamp (exact fit) and a modern furnace like the Scamps use. The fridge and furnace required spacers as they are deeper than the cabinets. I had Metro trailer install the frame and axle. These frames are a significant upgrade. The trailer tows far smoother and backing up is easier. Anyone that needs a new frame, which is almost everyone, should talk to Metro trailer in Winnipeg. I have a galvanized roof vent from Vintage Trailer Supply as the plastic ones deteriorate in 3-4 years.

@@TheGrantAlexander I had fond memories of my dad renting one to go on hunting trips with when I was a kid around 7 or 8 years old, my younger brother had the bottom bunk and I got the top, dad obviously had the dinette bed. I remember rolling off the top bunk and hitting my face on the stove.. haha it sucked then but it's a vivid memory. I have always wanted one. And few years ago we found one. We used it as is a couple times but it's gonna get restored

Thanks Luie! I was super impressed with the paint job as well. It is a specially formulated paint for fiberglass boats and is meant to be applied with a roller. (because lots of boats are too big to be painted in a booth). Turned out way better than I expected that's for sure!

Really sympathetic restore, well-done. Is there any reason you decided not to add insulation or better the airflow with a roof fan?
@TheGrantAlexander
@TheGrantAlexander Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The interior is already insulated with a product called ensolite. As for a fan, that is something I knew I could add later and I didn't have the extra money to do it at the time. 🤣

Thanks! I'm not a vlogger though, I'm a maker. I make things and then sometimes make videos about those things I make. I will say that it's almost impossible to film inside of the camper as it's only 10'x6'. But you can check out the video I made of making the cabinet doors if you are interested as it shows the inside more.
