Is it TOO LATE to Play HALO in 2022?

One thing that won't translate if you didn't play it at release was the massive shift in scale. Going from N64 games with small maps to Halo, really felt huge, and like an adventure. I actually think Halo never captured that sense of scale again.

it says a lot that the one Halo game that I still play regularly for campaign is Halo1. The argument that levels are samey only stands up when looking at them regards to the fact you are going through the same locations or seeing the same geometry but the encounters within them is quite differently set up from one to the next. The Library is among a lot of peoples faves as it's more all out Doomish and the later levels like Two Betrayals is a masterclass in design. The sequels don't match the first game's excellence but they're still a lot of fun and I'm often playing them

I was very similar to you. I had never played a single Halo game in my life until November when I picked up infinite. After that I've been obsessed and played through all the originals. However, my friend who's a massive halo fan told me not to play the anniversary edition because other than stylistic changes, there were lighting changes and things which affected how the game played. I think you made a little mistake playing the anniversary. It essentially plays the same though.

Yeah I've played through all of them now except infinite funnily enough. It all started by training to prepare myself for it but then when I started turning these into a videos I never got the time to actually play infinite lol. Thats awesome to hear from someone in the same boat now, have you since gone back and played the anniversary editions yourself as well? I know for me, old visuals can be distracting, especially when I know there are better ones out there because Im a snob like that

@@HowGoodGames I vastly prefer the visual style of the original. Ive played both versions thoroughly and there are only a select few changes I prefer. I pretty much prefer most of the sound changes, but the anniversary forerunner ruins are overly detailed and lack an ancient and solid feeling to them. Theyre too much like spaceships, Infinites art style adapted the CE forerunner architecture perfectly imo unlike anniversary. The anniversary feels detailed for details sake to me.

love this game to death and I play it every year but I undoubtedly agree that the mission quality takes an absolute nosedive towards the end. i don’t even bother playing the Library anymore. great reviews btw just subbed. Love your content

Yo thank you mate, a lot of them are just from things that I love and know really well, it’s why I use a lot from the same shows. The rest is YouTubing stuff, or saving different memes I come across and trying to repurpose them later. Lately though it has been getting a lot tougher and adding more time then I have onto the script writing process when I’m trying to review, script, record and edit a video each week on top of my regular job so they’ve been happening a bit less then in the beginning.

It took me a lot of trial an error, but I also started to sometimes work backwards off a meme instead forwards into it and just finding something that fit a joke, if that makes sense

Highly recommended you switch to Universal Reclaimer and select "set for all" in the controls options. It alleviates a lot of your problems with the controls man.

It's never too late to play Halo. Just play legendary at your own risk. Most of them are ridiculous on legendary. Heroic is a nice middle ground of fair, challenging difficulty. I miss playing Halo for the first time.

The reason the second half of Halo CE has pretty awful level design is they made the entire thing in 9 months, luckily the levels are usually fixed in the sequels!

Yeah makes a lot of sense, I figured as much with the copy paste style of design. I never ended up making a video on it, but I played through all the other halos after this one and holy moly, 2 was fantastic!

*Edit, seriously though, do you need a co-op buddy for legendary Halo 1/2? Bro, don't blaspheme like that I play through this campaign Halo 1/2 multiple times a year on co-op with new a new Xbox friend who needs a co-op buddy. It's kind of hard to find people nowadays because people who don't care older games avoid the absolute classics. I can't stand it man, every game nowadays needs to play like Call of duty. Dedicated sprinting, unable to Sprint and shoot and you can't sprint backwards. Aim downsides is required because they Nerf the hip fire with to make aiming down sights a requirement. I hate it

Plenty of better options? Where are those? Battlefield is death in water since BF3, series like Crysis, Frontlines, Titanfall, Section 8, Fear and Perfect Dark are over, Battlefront got turned into different genre, we will never get another Transformers WfC, few indie game shooters even offer single-player, multiplayer & vehicle combat in one game. And outside of milsim shit - there is honestly not much else that offers the full package.
