I'm very convinced that the good professor has spoken out of embarrassment for his own kind as one of the educated and moderate Malays who form a good proportion of the majority race in this country. As a Chinese Malaysian who has seen better days since the nation achieved independence from the British, I sometimes feel that the Chineae here were better off coexisting with the colonial masters. We may not have enjoyed the best of everything the British could provide the colonists but we were more civilly regarded by our colonial rulers. It's really sad that after having played our part as equal partners in achieving independence the non-malay minorities, especially the Chinese, were so easily blamed for anything found offensive to Malay culture or their religion.
@montserrat7220108 ай бұрын
In the old days, with the existence of vernacular schools (chinese and indian), the rakyat mixed freely and was united. Then came Mahathir, changed the medium of instruction to Malay and the NEP - the country's education went down the drain where we were no longer competent in the English language and competitive against other countries. The politicians and extremist religious teachers with racist remarks were left unchecked. If this issue is not arrested, it will get worse. On the other side, Singapore must be laughing at us - let the Malaysian politicians continue to fight over petty issues (english/malay, dressing, heritage etc) while they progress ahead. We should be focussing on the economy and get back on track after all the misappropriation of funds. Other SE Asian countries are catching up if not better than us. I hope the new Madani government will bring about change.
@chinchang51178 ай бұрын
I am a Singaporean but I see no problem in Dr M changing the medium to Malay. Look at Japan and Korea. They also used their native language mah. If the country is not doing well, do not blame the language. The main problem lies elsewhere.

Very well said, Prof. I salute you. Actually the main cause is the past political govt..which allow this to happen. In the kampung, we don't have any racial issues. It is the political parties dividing us. Hope Prof will produce a BM version soon. Teo KS is flaming the fire by talking nonsense. He needs to learn,relearn and unlearn. Kalau dia ada bukti, mengapa tak buat lapuran polis?
