It's also one of the most shit sets you can buy today as well. It has cool details inside, but it's super repetitive, way too big for any playability, crappy display piece. I dunno, it's second worst Lego set after World Map, which was dumb, because it's just a big baseplate with tons of dots. And ironically there's also quite a good selection of other Lego ships, which are more playable and also have some cool interior bits, which makes Titanic really pointless. It's sort of the same deal with Nasa "Discovery" and Creator Rocket 3 in 1 set for 10 USD, which is smaller same thing with 2 extra builds and it comes with enough pieces for building a custom small diorama. I'm seeing a trend of Lego releasing smaller builds that are superior and make their expensive crap worthless.
@pinobluevogel64583 ай бұрын
@@MJ-uk6lu To be entirely fair that trend of making smaller builds that make expensive crap worthless, if it exists at all, is a really good thing. If anything Lego needs cheaper sets, so more people can afford it and get into the hobby. I'm perfectly okay with a 700 dollar AT-AT starwars set, but it needs to be balanced with many sets in the 10-100 dollar range.
@MJ-uk6lu3 ай бұрын
@@pinobluevogel6458 I didn't say it was wrong, it's just very weird as buyer. It's also weird that many people claim that Lego is expensive, when it's actually getting cheaper and cheaper with more choices and etc. I swear those people weren't shopping for Legos in late 00s. Looking back it was almost crazy how relatively little amount of sets, themes and colors there were and stuff was actually much more expensive and there weren't cheaper options if you wanted something specific. Even creator bare brick sets were smaller, less colorful and more expensive.

@emvbricks2 ай бұрын
Surprised the police station is at #2. I can’t get over the fact that in that set the only access to the small apartment above the donut shop is through the fire escape ladder out the back window. I think they should have at least put a door connecting it to the interior of the police station itself. This one also didn’t include the 2 technic pins on the right side for some reason. There are two in the set, but they’re used somewhere else. No idea why they weren’t included. Despite these two issues I have with it, it’s not a bad set. I actually love the design of the actual police station itself.

My assumption would be another set you would connect to it would have the two technic connectors with that one.

The second floor is women's wear and the third men's. As I am getting older I am considering selling them. Anyone interested, let me know.

2:55 it’s not expensive when you piece it together. I pieced Market Street together, I have every single piece, and every single piece is an official Lego piece. I spent maybe $425.00 the most expensive piece were the white flexible hoses.
@SHYTIMEismyTIME8 ай бұрын
It depends.. I've had the marketstreet ready to piece as a wanted list on bricklink for years. The lowest I've seen after shipping was $350. But lately.. it's go up to around $700 after shipping. It really depends not the availability of the pieces. There's a few sellers on Ebay that are piecing the sets together.. and selling them whole.. the prices are about the same but.. at least you're only tracking one order.. and paying on one shipping and tax cost... vs. 20 orders on bricklink. I should have pieced together when I had it at $350. Kicking myself on that one.

Very interesting video. Really enjoyed it. I also bought the Assembly Square and Parisian Restaurant in 2018. Just a few month after getting into Lego in late 2017 because of finding BKM. I thought they would be a great way of learning how to build buildings. Today, they are still new in box. However in the last year, my wife spotted the Jazz Club and Natural History Museum in Lego Store windows. She thought they looked nice and remembered I had the AS and PR from 2018. She suggested I get the JC and NHM. What? She is actually wanting me to buy Lego and start a city. 😱 I am now starting to go back and get others. However, I have also found the Alt builds and Mods to these buildings on Rebrickable. I really like the mods to expand them, but keep the original type of building. Now, I am buying up multiples of certain buildings for expansion mods. I think I am going down a black hole with no escape….plus, I am starting to venture into Castle.

I'm missing the first 7 modulars, but although I can appreciate the genius of creating them with the parts available at the time, I don't feel inclined to spend that kind of money on them, because they are clearly dayed. What I am doing to complete my collection in a way is to redesign the modulars I don't have with modern parts, complete interiors and even some improvements, but in a way they are still clearly recognizable. I think the cheapest way to buy nearly every modular (excluding gg because of the sand green 1x2 with groove and 1x8 because they're no longer made) is to find pieces for them around your house, and buy the pieces you need in stores or on Bricklink. I'm using this technique to help me construct the fire brigade. the rare pieces like the light bluish grey trash can and red garage door pieces are just under $5AUD each, so if i'm honest, not too bad considering a used fire brigade is almost 1000 AUD. And i think that the modulars should have kept the classic :) face. it was funny in brick bank because they would be happy seeing the bank being robbed.

I appreciate the video and I think it is well edited, but the speed of the cuts is a little too hectic for me. I guess it works for short attention span young people, but I'm more of a longform video or even a book or podcast person. If it isn't worth watching in a slower pace, diving into it and immersion yourself in the visuals and narration, then it isn't worth the time. Having sped up videos might mean you get to cram more information into a shorter format, but it takes the enjoyment out of it, at least for me. @@SHYTIMEismyTIME Hey Shytime, thanks for taking the time to respond. I've listened to your podcast a few times now, I think it's great and much more my jam than the quicker style of videos. Those quick videos take a lot of work in the editing part too, to get it condensed this much, so it is not for lack of effort on your side. I think you're pretty much caught in a hard place where the younger audience (at least partially) desires the quicker videos while the older ones (for the most part) prefer a lower paced one. I'd say on shorts and TikTok, you see this trend exacerbated as that is mostly watched by a younger audience. I think Firebird recently made a video about this subject, where the audience is basically split in how they consume content and the algorhythm basically does push you towards certain trends. If you build a large audience on quality, none of this matters a whole lot, as people are basically watching your stuff no matter what and will help the channel with patreon and memberships, but for a lot of Lego channels they are still too small for that. You do whatever you think is best for you and your channel, but I will keep an eye on it regardless. Those podcasts are most certainly my style and I'm thankful that you are doing those as well. Peace!

Wow… been watching Lego videos since the wife got into them. Then I see ShyTime video about them. But wait, last time I saw ShyTime was about Lego military sets. ShyTime is into Modulars now. How things evolve over time!

Haha thanks! Actually… go to the very beginning… I started with city videos… and post one every now and then. Haha but I definitely prioritize different things now.

What a collection! I'm happy to build my own cheap modulars rather than empty my bank trying to get my hands on one of the originals but I have to say, especially lit up, they look amazing! I'm very happy you spent the money so I could see them glow. Worth every penny/cent!
@SHYTIMEismyTIME8 ай бұрын
I was fortunate to be able to get the originals at low cost... aside from Marketstreet. That one hurt. I love how people are building them using modern parts to lower that cost. In my opinion they look better with any of the modern sets when done. And yes... lighting them up does so much to them. I can now see what's happening inside again. Totally worth it!

I'd love to find some of the retired modulars at the prices you say they are going for. Perhaps that is if you can find it local? By the time I add shipping on, any of them are at least 10-20% higher. And I think that the locals around me on FB Marketplace are just matching the shipped price on eBay and Bricklink, but obviously getting more money due to no fees or shipping costs.

Is ghostbusters not modular?
@SHYTIMEismyTIME8 ай бұрын
Not according to Sands.. it doesn't have the 1x2 modified brick that allows it to attach itself to other modulars. But it still works well in a city next to them.

I do NOT think buying every modular ever is worth it. It seems like the more i have, the less i appreciate them. I own all from Parisian restaurant through police station and got them all during availability. At one point, i was determined to get them all until the hotel came out. it looks ugly, and the museum is even worse. The museum convinced me that im now satisfied with my collection so now im only gonna get the good ones. Im 100% getting the tudor corner. It looks amazing!

The boutique hotel, jazz club and the museum are on my wishlist and I’m lucky because Lego still sells them (I’m a new collector), the others Modular’s I am not interested. I am excited to see what modular building is going to be on 2025

@SO-ym3zsАй бұрын
Of course it's not worth it. You can get new modulars from Pantasy and Funwhole for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of a new Lego set, let alone compared to a retired Lego modular that's behind the time in terms of design and features and that's gone up in price on the aftermarket.
