For those who dont know too much about gold jewelry i will tell you this: $10-$60 for a gold chain, it is probably just 1 layer of gold plating over stainless steel or silver or whatever. $80-$200 it is probably triple gold plating over sterling silver, or its a very thin low karat solid gold. If you buy gold plated jewlery, its better to pay a bit more for higher quality because the color and shine will last much longer.

Plus you want to remember l, with the current times of what’s happening in the world - that may draw a delay in things. I’ve had this chain for almost 4 months. I’ve seen no tarnish yet. This come from me continuing to clean my chain after wearing it. Having a chain line this, you must take care of it to avoid tarnishing. Cleaning, and using the bag for storage after you wear it is really important.

I ordered a 400$ Cuban link chain. Real silver plated in 18k gold . I looked on GLD shop. But the underlining material of steel was a huge turn off for me . I just refuse to wear steel around my neck plated in gold that will fade over time

On GLD you have to option to choose Solid Gold, Vermeil Gold, or plated gold. That why it’s a good to figure out exactly why you want a plated gold chain. If it’s plated, it will be more or a temporary thing. But it’s still takes a long time to wear down as long as the wearer continues to keep it clean.

Good question. With GLD you have the option to select what type of material you want. You can you plated (a high quality material cover in a gold plate), Vermeil Gold (higher quality and more expensive material). Solid Gold (full complete real gold and most expensive). It’s all up to what you want to choose when checking out.
