Is it worth buying Tamron 150-500mm in 2023 ?

I wish I had thought of the monopod when I had this beast, definitely have regrets trading it in for other lenses. It is SO incredible what it can capture! Credit to your skills of finding these subjects of course :)

I own this lens it was awesome even before the firmware upgrade and with the upgrade it has improved, if you do the crop mode you can get a 2.5X in clear image so it make an outstanding zoom like 1800mm crazy....

Nice !! I looked as well so many video about it. I wasn’t sure between the Sony and Tamron .. but it’s 1k difference ! The quality is amazing (& less heavy than the Sony lens)

I'm thinking of adding a better zoom lens for my Sony a6100. I've been looking at the 70-350mm gos lens, but still not sold on it yet. You've given me another avenue to explore. Fantastic shots, needless to say!

I just got this lens last week. Went for this over the 200-600 because of the compact size. I would feel silly with the large 200-600, also would be hard traveling with the larger 200-600. The Tamron fits in my bag better

I been enjoying it, kind of wish I got the 200-600 for more reach and the internal zoom, but yes the tamron fits in a bag easier for travel. I might bring it to my camera shop to do a comparison in size. See actually how much of a diff with them side by side. My main thing is for travel and if I do get the 200-600 might not take it along cause if size.

@@Somemjf this is true as well! I like the fact it’s compact but it is worth to have less reach ? It’s all depend where you shoot i guess. When I was in the wetland of Florida it was easier than shoot in the desert of Arizona where I am at currently !

I own this lens for a good half year and am absolutely satisfied with it! Only now I have the problem that it is definitely not possible to install the firmware update with my iMac. I guess I'll have to look for someone who owns a Windows PC.... Update: In the meantime, I updated the lens via a Windows 10 computer. It was completely uncomplicated!

I got it last month and i think that it is worth. Portable not heavy compare to sony 200600 and can fit in to smaller bag.

Nice and informative Video, thanks for that! Is the weight of the tamron really noticeable? 1.7kg is a lot of weight. I wondering if the Sigma 100-400 dg dn is more worth it for wildlife/nature cause of the less weight

At the beginning it can feels a bit heavy maybe if you don’t have any other wildlife lens .. but it is way less heavy than the other brand such as Sony. Now I don’t mind it at all. The monopod help a lot as well!
