Nice job I did the same thing to my trailer. With the tires on are you going to be able to get to your zerks ok? The plastic bushing are made to last until you pull it of the sales lot. Just like the China bomb tires they put on from the MFG.

Thanks so much Russ, glad you found value in the video. First I hooked up the rig to my truck (just for safety sake). Then using a bottle jack under the frame right behind the RR wheel, I raised the frame until the RR tire was off the ground. I placed a jack stand under the frame and removed the tire. Then I lowered the trailer until it was supported on the frame with a jack stand. Then using the bottle jack I did the same with the RF tire. Then I moved over to the left side of the rig and did the same thing. In effect once all four tires were removed the rig was being supported by jack stands under the frame. with the added safety feature of having the rig hooked up to my tow vehicle. This allowed me to float the axles while doing the suspension work with the two floor jacks. I hope this explanation helps. 🍻 Sean

I just upgraded my cre 3000 to the heavy duty shackles. Keep your extra bushings, the top center ones on both sides all but feel out with a third of it worn away (brass/ bronze whatever they are). I think I have about 15,000 miles on them. So you will need to check them down the road. The two side ones that grab the leaf springs are still in very good shape. I hope that everything will last longer now that they are wet bolts. Good job brother!

Hey Matt, thanks, I do carry the spare bushings. I actually just replaced all the leaf springs while we were in Texas and because of ordered a new heavy shackle kit so I could install new bronze bushings in all the leaf spring eyelets. I didn't end up replacing the CRE 3000 as it was still in great shape even with all the miles we have put on it since this install. I was pleasantly surprised considering how worn out the original Equiflex equalizer was as seen in this video. Safe travels my brother. 👍

he did not mention it but it does in the instructions, after replacing the suspension parts you should get the axles aligned. It is a pain in the ass and takes 2 guys with 2 tape measures a few days, or a shop an hour.

Big thumbs up! I am getting ready to install the same heavy duty shackle upgrade to my 2021 Raptor triple axle trailer today. Had one shackle tear through after only a few trips. It should be criminal for them to build trailers using these cheap 1/4" thin soft metal shackles and plastic bushings! Can you imagine if cars or trucks were made this way? Come on man! So after watching several videos like this one I've decided to install all my wet bolts so I can grease them from the middle while rolling around on a creeper underneath, should be a lot easier access. Also, it's important to index the bolts so that the lube holes are facing sideways and not directly up or down to make it easier to pump grease into them. Otherwise the weight of the rig resting on the bushing could block them off making it more difficult to pump the grease in.

Great Job! Between this video and the leaf spring video, I now have the confidence to tackle these jobs so thank you very much for making the videos and I have become a subscriber! One question though..Do you have to jack up both sides of the trailer and remove all 4 tires or is jacking one side and doing the work and then jacking the other side to change out things going to be fine?

Thanks so much for watching and being a part of our journey. As you saw in this video I jacked up the entire trailer. In the leaf spring video I raised the trailer to where it was almost off the ground, then did one leaf at a time. Honestly the easiest way would to get the trailer totally off the ground, that was the suspension would be totally relaxed making it easier to "float the axles" around when reasembling. Again, thanks so much for watching. Good luck with your project and safe travels. Sean

The title of your video starts with "IS IT WORTH IT?" But your video was focused on the installation, so I don't think you answered that question. There was no commentary on any performance issue beforehand or any benefits of doing the install. Should I do this to my trailer with only 2,000 miles on it? If so, why? Is it worth it to do this?
@ouRVisionnomadicliving

Hi Alan, at 2:19 in the video I demonstrate how worn the shackles are prior to removing them, at 3:13 after removing the stock shackles I do a side by side comparison to the new heavy duty shackles, at 4:37 I remove a plastic bushing, show how worn it is, and talk about how I think it's ridiculous that these trailers come with plastic bushings instead of greasable bushings, after the install I again show how worn out the parts were that I removed, and how relieved I was at finally getting that job done. Sorry if you felt my showing and demonstrating, not only how worn out the stock parts were, but how it's my belief that using plastic bushings instead of using greasable ones is ridiculous. Was it worth it? Absolutely. Thanks for watching and letting me know your thoughts Sean

Sorry, one last question. Did you or any prior owner reinforce the spring hangers or did they come like that from the factory? It appears more steel has been welded on to them on the front, back and sides. I’m especially interested because I had a 2015 Open Range 427BHS and suffered through two separate incidents of the rear most hangers breaking off at the weld lines. Mine were not reinforced. Thanks

i have a doo little trailer the back wheels keep getting worn out the driver backside always goes bad on the inside I just put new axles on the trailer last year for some reason they keep going bad I put everything new leaf springs bushings and the center part do you think the cre 3000 would help ? i see they have a 35 inch and a 33 inch wheel base whats the difference in them and will they help tire wear?
@ouRVisionnomadicliving
@ouRVisionnomadicliving Жыл бұрын
Hi George, thanks so much for watching. First let me say that installing the CRE 3000 in my opinion will not solve the wear issue you are experiencing. The benefit of installing a CRE 3000 is with the rubber insulators it helps moderate road "shock" while traveling down the road. Basically the rubber insulators absorb some of the impact that happens when you hit a pothole... or are traveling down a rough road. The difference between the 35 and 33 inch wheel base has to do with how far the tandem axles on the trailer are, and so you know which CRE Equalizer fits your particular application. I am sorry to hear your having issues with the wear, even after replacing your axles. I would suggest taking the trailer in for an alignment, it sounds like even though you have all new parts, something is not aligned correctly. Again, thanks for watching and I hope my answer helps. Sean

Great job and a good way to keep your RV around for another 17k miles. The new Fords will keep a log for each trailer for you in case you are getting tired of keeping your own log. We have a travel trailer with torsion beam axles and the suspension is still in great condition after 17k miles. I wonder why not more RV companies use these?

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I suspect the answer to your question is cost. I don't mind keeping the log, guess I'm old school that way. Hi Phil, great question. To be frank there may not be much difference at all between CRE3000 and the Equa-Flex. However as you saw in the video the Equa-Flex was worn out, and the plastic bushings were shot. Adding the grease-able bushings and replacing the Equa-Flex was needed and I just decided to go with the MoRyde parts. I have put about 8000 miles on the rig so far. It will be interesting over the next year to see if the CRE suspension will outlast it's predecessor or will need to be replaced as the mileage racks up. One thing is sure. I know the bronze grease-able bushings are in much better shape than those flimsy cheap plastic bushings the factory installed. 👍 Sean

I am planning this same upgrade and would want to reinforce things at that time. The thin factory spring hangers and the thin frame material makes me feel like I am towing a time bomb. I have been wondering about removing existing hangers and having thicker ones made. Then I realized that the wet bolts wouldn't be long enough. I wonder if MorRyde makes longer wet bolts. I will be calling their customer support as part of my preperations. Thanks again!

Sorry I didn't use my impact tools, but that would have required me to drag my air compressor out of the garage, besides, using my hand tool helped me get in some much needed exercise. 😀...LOL. In answer to your question, the nuts supplied by MorRyde are flanged lock nuts, they are not nylock nuts, but they are lock nuts. Take care. 👍🍻 Sean

What Mor Ryde part # did you use for your 22MLE?
@ouRVisionnomadicliving
@ouRVisionnomadicliving Жыл бұрын
Hi Craig, I am not exactly sure what 22MLE is in reference to. My trailer is a 346FLR. In any event, if your asking what part number I used for the MorRyde Shackle kit, it was U012-016. I hope that helps. If not let me know. Thanks so much for watching. 🍻 Sean

@@craigburns6967 Ah. Morryde makes 2 different shackle kits. If you have the Lippert Correct Track, which has the yellow adjustment plates on the hangers you will need U012-029. If your RV does not have those yellow adjustment plates (like mine) you would use the part number I wrote in the previous response. 👍 Sean

Did you have to hammer the bolt into the hanger so the spline seats? I hammered like a mad man and still can't get it to seat. So I just put the nut on and put 45ftlb.

They should, I wish mine would have. The flimsy plastic bushings sure don't last long and I believe contribute to lots of issues down the road. I would assume they don't to cut down on those costs. Thanks for watching and commenting!! Sean

Thanks for the video. Question..Did the trailer height remain the same? I heard that the Morryde raises it and the other the brands lower it. Let me know. Thank you.
@ouRVisionnomadicliving
@ouRVisionnomadicliving 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. In answer to your question, the CRE 3000 did not change the trailer height. It is actually one of the reasons I went with it instead of the 4000. I had considered the 4000 but I had previously put slightly larger (with a higher load rating) tires on the rig The larger tires narrowed the gap between the two tires and I was concerned that putting the 4000 on (which increases the suspension travel) would narrow the gap even further and potentially create an issue where the tires may have rubbed when going over very uneven ground. Take Care and Safe Travels!!! 👍😀 Sean

Thanks for taking the time to produce this. What made you decide on the 3000 vs the 4000?
@ouRVisionnomadicliving
@ouRVisionnomadicliving 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching and commenting. That is an excellent question. Previously I upgraded my tires from the E rated westakes to G Rated (14 ply) Samson's. I decided at that time to go a size bigger tire as well. So I am running 285's instead of 265's Doing this narrowed the gap between my two tires. Which has not been an issue. However putting the 4000 on would have allowed for additional movement, and possible under certain situations allowed the two tires to come in contact with each other....so....I went went with the 3000. Take Care and Safe Travels!!! /// Sean

You're talking about who puts plastic bushings in that's the selling point for that unit I'm studying suspension parts a client has a trailer that he wants some longevity out of the suspension he spent thousands in the last 2 to 3 years the more studying I do it looks like I'm going to go with Hendrix they do truck and trailer equipment and it seems to be of a lot higher quality

Hi Robert, Honestly I have no idea how the selling point of a trailer would be plastic/teflon bushings. I am sure that Lippert puts plastic bushing in because they are cheaper than putting bronze bushing in. In any event, thanks for watching and I hope you found value in the video. Good luck and safe travels!! 🍻 Sean

Great in depth video, much thanks. I'm currently doing the same install and ran into problems getting the knurled bolts to set into the hangers. Did you use the ball joint press there as well? tried using a C clamp, a 2.5# dead blow hammer and lastly a impact gun, which ended up stripping the threads on the bolt. Safe travels

Here is the link to the qualification guide showing what measurements you need to determine if you need the 33 or 35 inch. As I understand it the 4000 gives 1 more inch of suspension travel, and it requires the use of 1 or more cross members when used. wait at 14:50 + you tighten the rear one with the leaf on the bottom side which is a bitch to correct. You then cut to the finished job, no mention of that issue or what you needed to do, acting like it was nothing.

Thanks for watching. As mentioned in the video, I then did the other side. Your correct in that I didn't show raising or lowering the trailer before or after doing the work. That said I didn't have any issue with that leaf spring moving up into the "correct" position. That video was done 4 years ago. In Feb, 2023 I replaced all 4 leaf springs due to a crack in the front right leaf spring. Here is that link if your interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpjdaqGXdputd9ksi=-xZvDPfimhprfg2F
