Those are the exact 2 reasons I did it. More money, and to get out of the bedside. And I am content.

Honestly, being a nurse in the US alone is already scary for me. Why? Who knows, you might get sued or be slapped with some kind of malpractice down the road...and by the time that happens, years have already passed and your memory of the event has become blurry...and the people who can testify in favor of you have already passed away...so what now??? especially if you're a minority in the United States
@DavidWarrenNP
@DavidWarrenNP Жыл бұрын
Yes- the legal issues/malpractice are certainly worries. However, if you are working as a provider, you will have liability insurance to cover these issues.
@insomniafiles6973

@@DavidWarrenNP I agree that medical providers can get malpractice insurance. However, I think that the more you have a liability insurance , the greater the chance that you get sued ....why? because lawyers know that they can get some profit.... and there's an obligation to disclose your malpractice insurance provider once you get sued.....nowadays, lawsuits have become a business for lawyers because they know they can profit from it.... for me, peace of mind is better than enduring the emotional turmoil and aggravation that a lawsuit brings ...and sometimes, these lawsuits take years to be settled.

Those are the exact reasons most people become nurse practitioner. The NP job market is getting saturated since they have started all the on-line diploma mills.

First two years of college I was a computer engineering major for this exact reason and switched to nursing last year and am a semester and a half from graduating with my nursing degree. Best decision I ever made. Don’t do something cause the pay is good or you’ll be miserable down the line

Do you foresee the CRNA market becoming oversaturated as well, particularly if AA practice becomes more widespread? Do you think a lot of bedside nurses go to CRNA school to leave bedside nursing and for the higher pay, rather than having a passion for providing anesthesia care?
@DavidWarrenNP
@DavidWarrenNP Жыл бұрын
Hey Brendon! That is a great question. As far as nurses doing it to leave/higher pay- I think this may be part of the reason. However, speaking from direct experience in a CRNA program now- those factors alone will wear off quickly, and will not get you through the program. This has been one of the most grueling processes ive been through. You truly have to "want" to do it. If you are in it for the money, that reason wears off super quick, and those are the people who either fail out or quit, and realize it's not worth it. As far as AA and oversaturation- I do not see this becoming a problem. Currently in AZ, there is a bill being introduced to allow CRNAs to supervise the practice of AAs. CRNAs can practice independently, and AAs will always need supervision in an ACT model.

@@DavidWarrenNP It depends on how strong your motivation is, not everyone is motivated by the same thing, I understand In your situation coming from a NP job making good money not being very motivated to do CRNA for the money because you have plenty of that already, but that’s not the case for many others, but obviously no one with financial responsibilities would be doing CRNA if it didn’t pay as much as it does, the people going into CRNA for the “love” of it either have plenty of money already, by either a wealthy family, a spouse or significant other that makes enough money which grants them the freedom to pursue things with different motivations other than money. But to say that the ones who fail out are the ones who do it for money is ridiculous, you don’t know that for sure, there is no proof of that, it’s just pure gossip that everyone keeps spouting to keep people from entering the field, you don’t know if their motivations aren’t just as strong as yours or not, just because they don’t have the same reason for doing it as you doesn’t mean their reason isn’t just as good. Now if you already have plenty of money and decide to be greedy and do it for the money then I can see how you could lose the motivation, but if you come from nothing, then money, lifestyle, family is plenty of motivation.
