As someone who loves to drive for 12 plus hours a day because well I love money a rental is the only way! even if I paid $600 a month for a new car in two years I only paid 14k on a new rig plus all the tires and oil changes and what ever else happens and then the car has 96k miles in 2 years 😳😑 $200 to $250 a week for a rental and keep my car for when rental prices are too high like holidays! I do have to work longer hours but I would rather spend 12 hours in my car then 8 hours with some ass hole boss lol 😆I am done with that life. Doordash to me = freedom

Don’t overlook the insurance aspect. When you rent, be up-front with the rental agency and tell them you need appropriate coverage. If you are using the rental car for commercial purposes, you will probably not have the same insurance coverage as a regular joe renting a car. If you are in a crash involving serious damage, injury of loss or life, you will not be properly insured and any insurance claim will be denied, and you are responsible. The insurance companies hire people to find out these things. Doordash keeps records of your deliveries. You WILL be sued. For a lot of money. A lot. At best you will be living in your sister’s basement and eating ramen noodles for the rest of your natural life.

I have bad credit and I can't get a credit card (only have a debit card) due to this. Hertz is telling me they run credit checks, so does this mean I can't rent a car or is there a way around this?

I have 2014 Ford fiesta 5 speed that I ran into the ground doing gig work. For me in my area working good you're going to do 200 to 250 miles a day. Which is fine as long as you're getting the money is not a big deal. I've only recently come on to this mileage based approach. Those of you with a similar market and having to drive more miles should look into a Mitsubishi mirage. May not be the best car but it gets good gas mileage and should be able to get it for around 10 to 12 k. I'm a x truck driver driving miles doesn't bother me but cars are not known to go for a million miles like some semi trucks can 😂.I make enough money doing gig work than I could afford $800 to $1,000 a month on a payment. Ive said it on here before but it's worth repeating every 10,000 mi is a year of Life gone from the car that's what the average person typically drives and that's how cars are made to last roughly 10 years. Luckily for me my car was not an expensive one. Still sucks to be paying on something that you can no longer drive though. The majority of people doing gig work are trading dollars for the rapid decline of the life of their car. Don't realize it until it's too late

I still believe tesle model 3 closest ideal to do fulltime gigs like this. 1 or 1yr half you can earn back the initial cost of the tesla with under km on its warranty. Cheaper insurance as well coz all of safety features of the car.

I am a paramed examiner for 10 years have been thru three cars, two of them I did not get them to last for the life of my car loan as they had extensive engine trouble around 200k . And I still owed 5000$ left on car loan!!! When the car engine went out.I love my job and wanted to find a way to continue and I think this is the answer prayer! And no stress of trying to come up with 1k- 2k $ for repairs..(I drive about 50k a year for my job)

So as per ur calculations, monthly rental car is 1k .. in 2 years , u would have paid 24k to the rental car company. Better buy a cheap hybrid for 24k , and even if u hit 100k miles in 2 years, you will still have another 100k left and if u decide to sell it , you can still get back some money to offset the purchase price. So makes sense to buy new.

BOY OH BOY. I agree this was a adventure for the both of you. And you both did a great job providing all the info needed for a educated Gig app worker. You went into much more detail then I believe I would have. So major praise from me. I do not believe most people put this much thought into it all. 1 item that benefits me, I do not buy new, and I do all my own maintenance. So I save a ton of expenses this way. The only part of that is that the Government won't let me take a tax credit for self maintenance. Instead they want me to pay a shop the crazy 125 to 175/hr for labor. I think they said give me at least 50% of the shop rate for the credit or cost of vehicle maintenance. Arrrg so the only benefit there is that I save on those costs and I get pretty close to wholesale costs on parts from outlets. Anyway I wanta say great work the both of you.

Uber use to have a rental car program called xchange leasing where they bought cars and lease them to drivers needless to say they lost a average of 9 thousand dollars a car when you figured wear and tear and depression.That was one of the first things Dara did as ceo was shut that program down lol.

Exactly. Each of these gig apps KNOW that they lose money BIG TIME! That is why they want US to use OUR own cars! It's one big scam. If people who sign up thought about the costs involved for driving their own cars for these companies, they wouldn't be taking under $5 orders or taking over 5 miles ONE WAY offers....
@JoseDiaz-rd9fh
@JoseDiaz-rd9fh 3 жыл бұрын
They would have been much better off giving drivers who perform a stipend to help them with maintenance or buying a new car.
@ValdestotsVoice
@ValdestotsVoice 3 жыл бұрын
True but at that point, they should have just provided a fleet of cars and just paid us $15/hr to drive and deliver their orders regardless of miles. I surveyed a lot of drivers on a private chat group and the majority stated they would sign on in a heartbeat if they provided the car, gas and insurance. But the gig apps would LOSE too much money doing that on depreciation, maintenance and gas/insurance costs. That is why they send us crappy offers over 70% of the time now. It's OUR cars and WE have to pay for our gas, insurance and maintenance costs. They are smarter than we give them credit for.

Excellent job you guys!! Thank God there's people like you out there willing to do all this research, and put it all together and give us this knowledge... It's really giving me some food for thought and a bit more direction I have wanted to rent a car for my delivery job for a long time But I'm really not sure if we have that program available in my city Doordash might have partners in every city in this country I'm not really sure but when I worked for Uber eats they had a rental car program through Enterprise and it was only a few major cities that did it So I'm going to be checking into it in my city for doordash After listening to your video and thinking about my own needs, expenses, my market and all of that I really think it would be the best option for me Because I have a 2011 Ford fiesta that I paid cash for one year ago And it's really not in the greatest shape, it's getting me there, but I don't feel it's practical to use my own vehicle much longer. And I'm almost positive I could afford the rental and make a decent profit working for doordash here in my market And I do think it's really worth it in the long run, because if you're driving your own car and it breaks down, then you're out of work instantly And if you don't have a backup plan, another car, some savings, no telling how long it will be in the shop or if you even have the money at the time You're right we do have to treat this like a business, and cover ourselves on all ends. I think renting a car is really the best option depending on the person's market But when I first got involved in gig work 6 or 8 years back for a different company, we didn't even have any of those programs in our city So I just didn't consider it as an option for a very long time until just recently And I ran across something on KZbin that said you can rent a car to work for doordash so I'm looking into it now in my city. I'm just afraid of the requirements to actually rent the car as I do not have a major credit card And I only have the Uber gobank Visa, from when I used to work for them and that is my bank. And so I'm just not sure that would be acceptable at a rental car place... So I'm going to have to do some research and see exactly what would be required of me.. But I'm crossing my fingers, because right now it is the best option for me. Thanks again for this incredible video ,very informative.

WOW! I thank you for your comment! People like you are the ones that inspire me to continue to make videos. I started out YouTubing in the beginning to "vent" or let off steam when I got frustrated with these gig apps. Then it evolved into trying to help other drivers from our experiences delivering from these gig app platforms so people can make a decent living from it WITHOUT being used and abused. Case in point, driving your personal vehicle into the ground. I am glad my rental car primer helped you gain some insight on other options for you! Just be aware that if you do choose this option, ALWAYS purchase their car insurance because most personal car insurance that people use will NOT cover you if you get into an accident while working for a gig app. Now if you work for Uber/Ubereats, you will be covered under their insurance while on an ACTIVE DELIVERY or Rideshare. Non of the other apps have that though. Again, best of luck on your journey and I hope you find a GREAT rental car at a good price (Summer Rates are usually the highest so don't get discouraged at high rates this time of year)!

@@ValdestotsVoice I totally understand, that's how many great things get started, lol.. I did exactly the same thing on Facebook, making videos basically to vent on some topics, and decided to evolve that into something else. Yeah I listened to two or three of your videos in the entirety, while dashing the other day 😊 And I was like yes this is exactly what I need, right on time. I did listen to several creators when I first got started with doordash, for tips and tricks, and there's some decent info out there but, Yours is one of the only that I've seen go to this much work, and really break down the math, and provide all of this for the public in a nutshell, that most of us just do not have the time or patience to do. It's a great service. Thanks. Many blessings as well.
