I’m happy to support an American contemporary company like Coach, because their prices are fair and their bags are made of the same materials in the same countries as the luxury brands. And often the bags are better quality leather!

The Hermes Bolide, LV Alma, The Row Nina, Dooney & Bourke ZipZip, St. Laurent Sac de jour, and Celine Bowling Bag-who's the dupe? Stylistically, these bags are very similar and are very popular. Who was the first to design this style? I usually see Hermes named for the original design simply because they are Hermes. But I bet if we look back in history, Hermes didn't always come out with a style first. I don't know the answer to my question, but I believe that most design houses watch what is selling and design their own versions of a particular style. Feel better soon, Jessie! For too long many of us have bent over backward to make sense of what these brands have been doing. Mostly sighting quality, design, etc. They have fully taken advantage of their consumers because of it. Now that the curtain has been pulled back, there is no way to continue to defend them

You are right that many of the general public don't know that they are carrying dupes of designer high end bags..and they don't care. Many years ago my sister who made many business trips to China, gave me a bag. I ended up hating that bag. It was clumsy, difficult to get into and I just found it totally impractical. I hated it and ended up donating it to a local op shop. Years later I realised that it was a super fake of a Birkin 30.

Carolina Herrera is a designer who is big in Latin America. Her bags are designer dupes. She doesn’t advertise them that way but one can see the speedy, The Row etc in all her bags. They are less expensive like between 1-2,000 dollars.

How it´s possible that Coach quality it´s the same or better than Louis Vuitton, Chanel or Dior? I have Louis Vuitton and Coach bags myself, and it´s the same level of quality. I've also had Chanel and Dior bags in my hands and found them to be of mediocre quality for the prices they ask for.

I don’t have a problem with dupes, I do have a big problem with replicas or fakes. As many others mentioned the big design houses copy each other all the time. They make suttle changes and put their branding on them. I don’t have any dupes currently but I’m not above buying one if I found a style I liked. I bought the tear drop earrings from Amazon and found out later they were a dupe for the botegga. I’m not in to high end costume jewelry so I was totally oblivious. I wear them a lot and not one person has asked if they were botegga or dupes. Feel better Jess.

Get well soon Jess! The more I think about it, I feel that it's just not worth it to buy another Louis Vuitton because everyone is making fakes. For now I will just use what I have until I feel ok to buy again. The designer houses have proven to be unethical by charging sky high prices and having questionable labor practices

I am now grappling more with the fact that it does cost so little to make the luxury bags but they increase the price astronomically! I think brands copying each others is fine, because at least they don't try to con someone. Like zara making a chanel-like bag but put zara brand or no brand on it, yaaas buy it. You got the style without the heavy tag. What I don't like is the feeling of lying to myself or another person to think that a bag is a specific brand while it's not, like a replica bag complete with chanel logo and dust bag etc, it feels icky. I don't even care about how chanel is not respectable etc I just don't like using something that feels to much like conning, lol. I prefer to buy a coach dupes than a replica.

I think now that I’ve just gotten back from Japan and found 4 bags (3 were A grade one was a B) and I am so very satisfied with those purchases it gave me such a feeling of happiness when I found those bags that I just don’t seem to get when I purchase new and boutique direct like I used to. I think I’ll be looking preloved and waiting for my trip next spring to Japan to see what I can find next.

Feel better, Jessie. You are real trouper for filming this video for us even though you should be resting. I’m kind of caught in the middle of the debate about dupes; I would never knowingly buy a fake or counterfeit handbags or luxury goods, but I generally don’t have a problem with dupes that are not labeled as the real thing. I have thought about getting a dupe handbag from Amazon or from a brand called Tiffany and Fred who make handbags in the style of a few Hermes silhouettes but I haven’t yet. Something is stopping me. One thing I have a problem with is buying luxury fragrance dupes. I have to buy the real ones first; I usually get samples to see if I like them and then I buy travel sizes that are easier for my wallet, lol. Maybe I do have a problem with dupe handbags overall. IDK. Great video.

oh Jessie, hope you feel better soon. I think it's so interesting that the base assumption is all this discussion is that the luxury brands are the ones coming up with new ideas/designs and they have the moral high ground in the commercial cycle. If you take a long enough view of time and have the right research tools, you can find many of the current luxury designs in past circulation decades ago eg. the bottega pouch was a moon bag popular with high school girls in the 70s. At what point are you inspired by history vs duping? It comes down t intention to deceive, imho, which is a tricky thing for a consumer to determine.

Jess hope you feel better soon, I purchased Bolide from Hermes searched for a vintage Bolide found 27" Bolide made by Lederer De Paris exact bag so did Hermes produce the zip bolide first or Lederer in my opinion all designer house use each other design pattern. There's enough money in the pot for everyone if it Luxury brand, fakes, or dupes, it should matter live your life.

I say buy what you want and what makes you happy. Personally I don’t care for dupes. I am done spending thousands of dollars on handbags at this point. I am fortunate enough to have plenty and can shop my own closet

Sounds like people are finally waking up to realize that they are getting fleeced by luxury brands. Preying on the insecurity of those foolish enough to think that spending insane amounts of money on items of artificial scarcity and value increases their social status in life. News flash it doesn’t. What it really shows is the pure ignorance in understanding what wealth really is. Most people who chase these items are literally stuck in the trap 🪤 where the addiction to seeking public validation has you endlessly breaking yourself to make purchase after purchase. These brands care nothing about you, seeing you as the peasant who will do anything for clout. So much so that you made the CEO of LVMH one of the richest people on earth. They spend pennies on every dollar you give them gladly. For what? Do you have 7 figures in investment accounts. Are you renting an apartment? How many cars do you actually own. If you lost your job how long can you survive without working? When I see people wearing luxury goods in almost all cases I think they’re broke.

I find it hard to believe anyone claiming bottega dupes prohibit them from buying bottega has ever held a bottega bag. I’ve had every bag brand and bottega is up there with Hermes based on quality and feel. Bottega dupes stand out so easily despite being logo-less. Bottega dupes don’t bother me in the least.

Hi Jess. Your most interesting videos yet. In my view, the luxury industry looks more like a religious cult than a market sector. It's kinda scary! Especially their marketing. They're clearly not just trying to sell people a bag, the value and mark up comes with all the fanfair around it.
