I tried to get my almost 80 yr old mother to get an EV. She never goes more than 100 miles max. She also hates getting gas and oil changes. I think it would be ideal for her.

As long as she can charge at home it would be fantastic. I would recommend a Tesla with a Lithium Iron Phosphate pack so she can leave it charged at 100% all the time when not using it.

@@cybertrk I didn’t realize the KIA didn’t have a lithium battery
@cybertrk6 ай бұрын
@@duggydo the ev9 has a lithium manganese cobalt chemistry, lithium iron phosphate is better for low range drivers who would benefit from leaving their cars plugged in and topped off to 100% all the time. With lithium manganese colbalt you want to not charge above 80% ideally (most of the time)

The EV9 and all EVs are general good on short trips, 100-150 miles, anything else, instead of going to your destination and enjoying the trip, you are just going from one charging station to another. A good example is from the Kia Hyundai Channel where one of the Kia's rep, Charlotte took an EV9 from Bradford, ON, to Lynchburg, Va. She has taking this trip many times in a Tellirude, about 11hours, just straight from point A to point B. Charlotte gave an honest review of the EV9, at the end of the trip, it took 6 hours longer in the EV9 then a ICE Telluride, part of the problem was just the charging infrastructure, some working, some don't some are too slow, a lot of time, she had to backtracked to the previous charging station because the one she arrived is broken, this is a recurring theme. She also felt that with the Tellirude, she can just get into the vehicle and enjoyed the drive, the views and stopping at whatever tourist place she wants to, with the EV9, she felt like she was just going from one charger station to the next charging station inorder to keep the EV9 charged. On the way back, it took an additional 7 plus hours because she encountered too many broken charging stations or the payment processing was down. In all, the round trip took 13 hours longer, time is precious, time is money, for me, my EV is used exclusively for in town commute, short trips, and anything longer like 500 miles to Disneyland, we take the 2014 Honda Odyssey, one tank of gas, one stop, and we're there.

There is a good British word that starts with B and ends in ks. I have an EV 6, I had the car 14 days and did a 530 miles trip in 10 hours. It took no longer than my ICE car because I charged during my break and since the EV has such a fast charge 0- 80% in 18 minutes. Incidentally 500 miles journey is around 9 -10 hours of driving, without stopping is dangerous and irresponsible. A lorry driver must stop by law and take a break. 100 - 150 miles, what nonsense

Love your video, I am 2 weeks old Ev9 owner and I have the same color lol, and I will be driving to Chicago from Louisville and will stop indy and than top off and straight to Naperville. By the way I see when you arrived Indy and showed the gauge which had 63 miles, I do see you were driving on regen lvl 2, which is not doing any good on 70 miles speed but eating out some mileage, I drive on lvl0 on express way and car simply glide on express way really very little press From my feet?

Looks an amazing car Jill. We’ve got two cars. One a little 52 kWh BEV. Have covered 6000 miles in the just over 3 months we’ve had it. Zero issues. Is the infrastructure in the UK that much better?

Good video, Jill. I like knowing that I could get to Chiraq without stopping IF I had an EV9. What do you think it would be with an F-150 Lightning or a Model Y? As a PU grad I wouldn’t mind if you acknowledged that Lafayette is Purdue country, the greatest university in the solar system (given how many people we have placed in space and in engineering).😀 Also, you drove to Fishers which is a premier suburb in the US according to Money Magazine; glad you didn’t go to Carmel where the pretentious snobs live.

You left with the vehicle indicated that you have 309 miles of range, you drove 204 under the best condition, and you probably weight no more than 100 pounds, driving at the speed limit, then arriving the vehicle showing 67 miles left, with using 3% climate and 5% electronics, that leaves about 12% unaccounted for.

The GT-Line model here that Jill drove is actually EPA rated at 270 miles, meaning her 204 mile trip with 63 miles of battery remaining is almost spot on. And with the display reading that she averaged 74mph during her trip, this is actually very impressive, since that speed is greater than the EPA's test cycle.
@jimharrison35526 ай бұрын
@@JDubbs07 If that's the case why did the vehicle indicated before the start of the trip that it had 304 miles of range?
@JDubbs076 ай бұрын
@@jimharrison3552 range estimates (ICE or EV) are usually based off your last drive cycles, suggesting that at the slower, in-town driving Jill was likely most recently doing, upwards of 300 miles was possible. Per the video, not too long after she got on the highway the vehicle recalculated.
